Sweet, This is one of those "I thought I was the only one who had ever played this!" games, and it's nice to see it reenacted. Plus it's so damn difficult getting it to run on a modern computer that it's nice to at least get the experience vicariously.
I seem to have a bit of an addiction to your Let's Plays. Always an entertaining way to spend some spare time!
And the Sherlock song is absolutely perfect!
I've watched tons and tons of LP's by tons of LPers and I think Sven does the best job out of any of them. Professional and funny without ever being obnoxious. I was bummed out when I thought his LPing days were over. I just sent a healthy donation to Sven to give him extra incentive to continue with these, I hope other people will as well. These LP's take a lot more time and effort than you might think with the recording, editing and uploading. Very glad to see him recording again and hope these continue. :)

Yay! Sven's back! I missed you. You have enough older stuff to keep us occupied for a good long while, but it's nice you know you're still alive out there.
True story: This game is the reason why I now spell “okay” as “okay” and not OK. I decided I liked it being an actual word rather than two initials for which no one knows what they stand for.

Your roland mt-32 makes it sound like a totally different game. So much of these sierra music I never heard before.
Ah, the memories... I remember when I played this game for the first time. I found a copy of The Roberta Williams Anthology in the shelf of some local General Store - pretty big, well known stores in Spain - and I was shocked when I discovered that Laura Bow had starred another game before The Dagger of Amon Ra! So I convinced my parents to buy the Anthology in order for me to learn some English when I played. Truth be told, I really was learning new things because each time I had my English to Spanish dictionary by my side, and I used it whenever I found some unknown word.
Sierra games have some pretty flowery, grandiloquent text usually, even for Americans. I know it's the reason I was in UIL spelling(since misspelling any text prompt in the games gets you mocked usually) and am kinda a grammar nazi now haha.
Remember, this is Dark Sou- err, I mean, this is a Sierra adventure game. Everything DOES kill You.
Have you thought of doing Laura Bow II Dagger of Amon Ra? SERIOUSLY cool! Probably as good as Kings Quest 6 imho

Yes, the game came with a map and on the other side was a set of red-blue hidden fingerprints. You used a red plastic magnifying glass to see the prints. The game also came with a small spiral notebook and golf-type pencil. We made sure we didn't use that to mar it, and instead took our own notes on our own papers. :)
By Tulane University is a real place. It was founded in 1834 originally as the Medical College of Louisiana, but later expanded, and renamed Tulane University in 1884. I've never been there, though. Wikipedia. :)

I'm so glad to see you back Sven, I missed your Let's Plays of my favorite old games~ I hope you get a chance to do Quest For Glory soon, but that would probably be a huge project to take on, trying to show everything in the game.
Also, why has nobody mentioned that Laura Bow's dad is CLEARLY Mr. Rogers?

YES! The one person that pronounces Henri correctly! And gotta love the bad Clue references, and most of the characters ARE famous historical figures(Gloria Swanson, Clarence Darrow, and of course, Clara Bow IRL)

Hi, Sven! Thanks for doing The Colonel's Bequest. I loved this Sierra game even though I'm not one for mysteries, generally. Please do the Dagger of Amon Ra too, with both voice and dialogue text if possible. :)

Nice change of pace for a Sierra title. I remember some games from my childhood, like Carmen Sandiego, or Scooby-Doo: Classic Creep Capers, and such that were set up a lot like this.

timing based? Are you sure about that? If I recall correctly, time only advances when you reach the "time advance" cutscene. You are free to explore the entire rest of the mansion and grounds for as long as you like, so long as you don't go to the room with the time advance...
first off WB Sven 2nd YES i remeber this game from my childhood ...sad i never beat it ..well i cant wait to see all the eps waiting 48hrs per upload is cool i know some LPer's who take a week to upload

The year is quite wrong for it to be an inspiration, but the opening for this reminds me a at a few points of the "Second Rate" song from Return of Jafar.
One thing: not sure how different it could be, but I do know if you play it nowadays, there is a chance you could easily just bypass the Fingerprint Screen by pressing enter and not moving your mouse or anything. But wow, the music sounds so much better!!!

I only just now realized how greedy these people are, after playing this game back in the day and after watching other playthroughs of the game over the years before I started this one. I decided to do the math, and if Henri has only 2 million dollars (he says "millions" plural so that's the minimum, but he probably has more) and if it's divided among the 7 people at the table who aren't Laura, then that works out to over $285k each...in 1925 dollars, which is the equivalent of over FIVE MILLION dollars today! If I stood to inherit that much money, *I* wouldn't be upset about not getting even more, like these people are...

I've never tried this before, but what happens if one types (in the game, when Rudy is his usual, fun-loving self and is having cake and coffee in the dining room) "'fuck Rudy"' ? I LOVE this game anyway, i probably should mention, but i cannot play it only watch it on UA-cam because my version is not compatible with my Personal Computer. Thanks if someone wants to try this for me....
I think if you type "fuck" says something like "Please Laura, Behave yourself!" or something like that :P
