I have this Khaki field in white. It’s my Mon - Fri watch as I do manual work as an electrician. I’ve no complaints. For the price (approx £400) when I acquired it, it’s a great watch.
Ironically the cheapest watch I have, but the most wrist time.
For me a few things are clear: the expedition model have a screw down crown, 10 AT water resist and looks better on my wrist. Do I prefer the Expedition for my outdoor activities and adventures? YES!!
I’m picking up the Khaki Field Expedition in white 37, and I couldn’t be more excited. Such a good-looking watch. While I would use the compass bezel, even if you wouldn't, cmon it just looks so good.
One of the best tool/field watches of all time, IMO... Especially, the 37mm...
I just purchased an Expedition black not knowing anything about it. I came here after the fact just to learn some specs. Sapphire Water resistance movement ext
Just got myself the expedition in black on a bracelet and i'm in love with it. Such a nice, well fitting watch. Feels great on the wrist and looks amazing in 37mm.
How does it wear for 37mm ? I keep thinking might be too small for a watch with bezel. I have the 38mm auto and 38mm mechanical I love
@@daveLin104 I have a smaller size wrist so I enjoy smaller watches more. But in general It fits really well and would even fit wrist larger then mine even better. I like old school small watches so I am bias. It doesn't feel tiny at all and the dial doesnt look cramped for space or anything. Honestly unless you are huge I would rather the 37 then the 41.
Thanks to your video I just picked up a white 41mm and the dealer threw on a Hamilton green nato strap! Love the combo, your videos were an inspiration to grab this combo. Coincidentally, when offering me the watch he also offered to swap it with a bracelet, so I believe I have the only pictures of the white on bracelet which I posted on Reddit. Very happy with the watch!
Great video as always! However one minor mistake at the beginning just thought I would correct so people don't get mixed up. I recently purchased the white dial on the website and according to Hamilton it's a 41 mm not a 42mm as Harrison stated at the beginning. Probably just an accidental mix up.. Great content overall!
I own the PVD khaki field mechanical and I love that watch.
I'm currently wearing my Doxa sub 300 professional that I bought from your Leeds branch earlier this week. I love that watch and I'm preferring it to my Rolex Submariner!
I wear my Hamilton Fueld, manual, on a Cuff strap. I like small simple watches on a cuff.
I like your videos. For me the Khaki Field Expedition in white wins out of these 2. I always noticed your jewellery in your videos, pretty nice. Would you reveal where you got these rings from? Greeting from Germany.
I'm gonna choose Auto one, not that Hammie Mech is not classic but I'm too lazy to put in on working often
edit: but I do agree on manual/automatic transmission
In my opinion the Khaki Field Mechanical is the best looking of these two. I don't want anything polished on my field watch and I don't want a see through case back. I like the historical accurate and military look of the Khaki Field Mechanical and I find the Expedition too dressy for my taste.
I saw some photos of a guy who polished the Khaki Field's case and it came out great. If both watches had shiny cases I would find the Khaki more attractive
I have a mechanical and a regular automatic. I prefer their dial designs, hands and fonts to the Expedition. The only thing I prefer about the Expedition is the slightly smaller size.
where can I buy the strap at 3:07?
Tissot version of what you are wearing. PRX powermatic 80 40mm with glacier dial
I got the field mechanical in white as a repair watch for a 120 bucks I hope I get it running
I had the black PVD Mechanical and currently own the Expedition 37. The long lugs on the Mechanical just look odd to me, so I sold it.
I haven't used my dive watch for diving....but I time things with it all the time. Literally used it to keep track of a dutch baby I had in the oven last night. Compass bezel is very cool....but so much less useful
Why would the compass bezel not have the same time tracking capability as a rotating a dive bezel?
Wrist check, wearing a Seiko King Turtle (no water in sight). I have that polar dial mechanical mine is super accurate but I don't wear it too much. Maybe getting the bracelet would help, I don't often wear nato straps.
i add another Khaki Field in this fight.... the Murph version.... it's a winner for me ^^
PS Both looking good also ^^
PS 2 My wrist check today is the Mido Ocean Star Decompression Worldtimer ;)
just ordered the mechanical. You didnt mention price difference. Thats what got me eventually......
I wouldn't want to be without my Khaki Field Mechanical. I like the look of the Expedition - Hamilton designs are amazing, but I've already got a Seiko Tortoise with an external compass bezel and a blue dial, and the Expedition is very reminiscent of that - love the arrow on the hour hand.
All good thoughts Harrison as always. Ignoring the price I think the Expedition has the edge, it's more refined in almost every way but as you mention it's a little more form over function compared to the mechanical that was designed as a tool watch. Given the price difference I'd pick the mechanical though but then I'm a tad biased as I have one. Maybe a different comparison could be with the Khaki Titanium that is closer to the price of the Expedition as it's also automatic and a less tool watch case finish. Many thanks for sharing.
Appreciate that, thank you!
Dyslexics, untie! I'm not dyslexic, but I am autistic and am sending you respect for living the open life.
the bezel is just silly, a countdown or 1-12 hour bezel would be much more useful. I'd rather wear a diver's watch or a classic mechanical field watch.
Hamilton’s CEO said the Expedition is more refined and thoughtout in its design and econometry, whereas the mechanical is more utilitarian and production was rushed to support the war efforts hence the lugs are longer as it’s easier to produce. Hamilton supplied over 1 million watches to the USA army during the war.
Rushing to production equals stupidly long lugs? Lmao umm no, that makes no sense
I have the expedition 41mm
I hear a little noise of the calibre if i move the watch very slowly.. a TIC.
Is it normal??
So, take the Khaki mechanical, shave a millimeter of each lug, give it a blue face and sell it for about $500. If I go below 50 meters of water, the last thing I'm gonna care about is the water resistance. That said, I love that Expedition!
I was gonna buy an expedition until I saw the numerals wasn’t lumed. They missed a trick here.
Why not both? 🤷♂️
Let’s do this 🍿
🔥🔥
The Hamilton Khaki field mechanical is so much more of a purpose built watch than the expedition. Sandblasted case, 24hour markings, drilled lugs, closed caseback, awesome nato. It was literally a 1:1 from the original used in military. Feel like Hamilton got lazy with the expedition and just took a normal 3 hander and slaped a compass bezel on it that most people wont use. I actually use the 24 hour military time markings as I work in a hospital
10bar screw down crown, screw in caseback, 37mm watch diameter , black dial etc... These are real military specs...
Apart from the increased water resistance, the Expedition to me is a complete 'meh' - useless compass bezel, less distinctive case and dial, with unsuitably 'modern' font. I've had the KFM for a year now (bought just before they raised the prices) and I am extremely happy with it. I'd also love a Pilot Pioneer if only it had a sapphire glass.
And if one looks for a field watch with dress appeal I'd suggest the latest Serica 6190 Field Chrono (pure class lookswise), rather than the Hamilton Expedition.
The new one looks awesome, except I wish the hands were white instead of cream
So there really isn't a winner 😂
wow also has a printed dial and useless compass for modern people in 2023 and all that amazing package cost only 1000 euros!
@@BrianDPrice1 I love them too, i just think the price for this watch is too much
Khaki Field mechanical!!!💪👍👏❤️❤️❤️
Not a good field watch with everything polished #ScratchMonster
Both are mechanical
Yes. But, mechanical is in the name of the one without the rotor.
@@zplapplap Manual wind in my book.
Sorry but Expedition is much much much better... 🙈
The khaki mechanical eats the expedition’s lunch every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Not true, unfortunately 🙈 expedition is a much much better watch, in every way...
at half the price and youre still satiated...
No one is expecting you to change your name so you can probably stop saying "as always" after you tell us it.
