I've looked through 30 or 40 viz trying to find one that give me a clear view of where the petcock is located in yours is the first one that does that. Thank you so much! And as an added bonus, you can get a clear view of how to access the lower radiator hose. Awesome vid.

I like how you use the water pump pliers. It took me several minutes to wiggle my pliers into position before I could loosen the clamp. My 99 Chevy Malibu 3.1 L LS M type engine has a transmission line at the bottom of the radiator that blocks access to the hose clamp. I tried regular pliers because my hose clamp pliers had no clearance. Same thing happened to me a flood poured down on me as soon as the clamp was loose. I watched your video about replacing the intake manifold gaskets many times over the last six months as I worked on this project. Got to say my favorite go-to tool is a 3 foot crowbar. Crowbar popped the lower radiator hose right off, with hose on nipple above as a fulcrum. With the new hose I put the clamp facing up. Unfortunately I couldn't seem to get the clamp close enough to get over the Bulge on the radiator nipple with my hose clamp pliers. Along the passenger side of the radiator runs another transmission tube to the top of the radiator. What a nuisance. Offset hose clamp pliers + normal pliers had to be repositioned several times to wiggle clamp forward, Body frame to the left, tubing to the right.
Another issue the low coolant light flashed no matter what I did to fill up the radiator. Finally I took the upper hose off and stuck a garden hose down it to flush out the cooling system. The water flowed out the Overflow Reservoir. I put upper hose back on, no more low coolant light warning. UA-camr Original Mechanic stuck a funnel in the 3/8 tubing going to the top of the radiator the highest point by over 4 inches. I plan to drive the car for a couple hundred miles before I drain a gallon of water out to add antifreeze. It's been a real nuisance how this cooling system will blow out 3 gallons of antifreeze all at once if it's overfilled. It's like there's some siphon action going on. Michael I liked your comment about automatic air bleed since the bleeder screw on top the water pump bypass pipe bleeds coolant not air.

Some of my new hose connections leaked especially the smaller diameter 3/8" hoses. I used Permatex water pump and thermostat housing RTV silicone gasket maker 22071: water pump bypass pipes and hoses, thermostat to heater core pipe behind o-ring, 2 Passenger side radiator to overflow Reservoir nipples.
I like the flat band spring hose clamps better than the screw clamp. On my Jeep 4.7 L V8, lower radiator hose to thermostat housing leaked a dribble which equals 1/2 gallon of antifreeze every 50 miles. The only fix was to use silicone sealant and reposition the screw clamp many times till I got a perpendicular grip. Slightly off perpendicular, screw clamp leaks horribly. That's the great thing about flat band spring hose clamps they position themselves. Also they don't cut a new hose in half.

@mrsarcastis13 Newer cars are designed to bleed automatically, Drive the vehicle and check the tank often for the first 100 miles or so. At 128K, if it has the original hoses then replacing the hoses is good preventative maintenance. Check your hoses every 25K and Replace at 100K even if they don't look bad.

I wouldn't have been able to do it without your video but it wasn't as easy as you made it look. worked through a thunderstorm but I got it. I don't think there is any grease left under the car, l got it all on me Purple power degreaser works wonders.

2:10 why is the fluid redish?
Can this be done WITHOUT undoing the tensor and belt? My tensor is OLD, I cannot afford to break it. PLEASE Reply! Thanks!
My 2001 Grand Prix GT 3800 series 2 is not supercharged.

Do you know a shortcut to draining the cooling system to do the heater core on a 1999 Grand prix GT?
Can't I just pinch off the hoses from the outside?

We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this particular repair with a supercharger equipped vehicle. You might be able to use most of the same tools. Some of the steps may be different though. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

What about bleeding air out of the system? My regal has 128k and the hoses feel a little soft. When do you think I should change them?

Pro tip: the ears broke off my 05 Impala pepcock as well. A 19mm 12pt socket will get it off super easy. DON’T TIGHTEN IT BACK WITH A RETCHET THOUGH... fingers only. 😀

how to remove transmission lines from radiator on 1999 BUICK REGAL LS ( no supercharge ) do i need special tools or just a wrench ??

Don't forget to bleed the cooling system. You'll overheat if you don't. The bleeder is on the thermostat housing.

If the fluid is old, you may want to drain it out of the radiator and flush the system while you're at it. You could just pull the petcock on the bottom of the radiator. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
