- Radiator installation can be a pain for those having to replace or upgrade.
Always make sure to contain anti-freeze spills and keep from spilling or pooling on the ground because animals can get to it and die from ingestion. - Навчання та стиль
You did a great job of showing how to, Excelnt footage and excellent, Teaching... You guys did great.... Thank You.....
That wiring bundle enclosed in that long piece of plastic can easily be moved toward the engine after you undo the fan connector and the low coolant level connector. No need to pull the wiring out of it. Just pull out the two plastic pins holding it in and push the whole thing completely against the engine and take two tie straps to keep it there. You then can easily pull out the fans and the radiator. For me, the biggest pain in the ass on this job is pushing the transmission lines into the new jiffy tite connectors on the new radiator. You must leave the radiator loose so you can move it around a bit to get those lines to click in. If they don't go in perfectly straight they won't go in. Also, it helps to lube them up a bit with tranny fluid. Also, there is a plastic panel underneath the car that is easily removed by taking out the five 10 mm screws. Taking off this panel gives access underneath that makes this job way easier.
Don't forget the last step, you have to bleed the coolant system, or will you overheat the engine. The bleeder is on top of the T stat and should be open when adding coolant. fail to do this could result in engine damage.
F Gome You are correct and hopefully everyone who views this video sees your comment since I failed to mention it on the video. I will have to remake this video next time I got to replace a radiator. Thanks !
I have owned at least 20 cars with the 3.8 including the grand national
+F Gome yeah me 2,,,Buick, Pontiac, Chevy, ect...
What kind of damage the engine would have?
I know this is old. But if not bled correctly can the engine be damaged by just letting warm up? I was having trouble getting air pocket out after water pump change and didnt know about a bleeder.
great video was very helpful when I replaced my 2000 Chevy impala rad today
Good, informative video. Helped me out a lot with my Venture radiator replacement. Thanks for sharing.
thanks, helped a lot, seen other videos that sucked, this much more helpful
What do we do with the transmission lines? Clamp them off so air does get in them or is that not necessary?
What about the ac cooler behind the radiator how it come off
About how long would you say this takes?
Any videos of flushing coolant ? When I look through radiator cap its looks oily not to sure but its dirty
I have an 06 series 3. How to separate the aluminum radiator from the black radiator part behind it? No bolts. No clips that I can see.
where is the ac lines
will this work for a 1994
HOW TO REMOVE THE TRANS LINES IF THEY JUST PULL OUT DO YOU HAFT TO LOSEN THE BOLT OR WHAT NEVER SEEN ONE LIKE THAT.FIXING TO REPLACE MINE THIS WEEK..THE TRANS LINES IS WHAT I HATE. THE REST IS EASY
Did you remove the lower rock guard or was it not required??? Thanks!
Not required
You don’t have to remove the ‘dog bones’, just unbolt them from the of the radiator mount and rotate them onto the top of the engine
ALSO THE MOTOR MOUNTS ARE HELL TO PUT ON ALSO AS THEY LOSE THEIR SHAPE AND HAFT TO BE FIXED WITH A C CLAMP TO LINE UP EASY..
Simple but not that easy. You got it done
Simple in theory. But any mechanic knows there are always problems.
@@CabernetKev exactly, my issue started with bad fans, upon removing the fans (which had to be cut of the plastic because the top screw was frozen), upon looking at the bottom, I noticed rusted trans lines and the bottom of the radiator rusted. So its all coming out this weekend. Had the radiator replaced on a recall at 105k, and got less than 90k on the replacement. Life in the rust belt.
Note: There are two thicknesses of radiators for the Grand Prix, the supercharged GTP gets the thick radiator.
You can put the thicker one on the non gtp too
Why you ain't show how to put the mounts back on.
Thanks my mechanic wants $450.00 I can get a radiator for a $100.00 from Rock Auto. But $350.00 in labor sounds nuts.
$45 on Ebay.
omcdude64 what for a used rad fuck that lol
@@kyonte9044 NEW!
Yep. Just bought a new one on Ebay for $62 shipped and with a lifetime warranty.
The good thing about getting a radiator from a parts store is there's no return policy hassles if the part is damaged, you can take it back and get a new one.
Dude... the tranny lines are quick disconnects.
Not exactly. The retaining pins have to be removed to pull the lines.
The lines are quick connects - just push em in
