Where it is used as part of a styling design all that is needed is a massive shift in aesthetic perception.
"I'm not having that creepy looking chair in my lounge"
Also a shift in cost, finish and high production output of additive manufacturing parts.

Good stuff. I think the bigger problem than the organic shape design is the cost of printing and the cost of strong printable materials.

Good point... Just to open up the cost aspect with energy required/time consumption too in addition to machining/material costs... Overall cost/efficiency over time can bring the cost down of the printed materials though... as with mass/volume production and technological advancements will also bring down time/energy consumptions too... There will be a time printing stuff will be both much cheaper on time/energy and material costs...

These designs immediately reminded me of the Maserati Birdcage race car. This was a fifties race car space frame where instead of big box section main frame parts the car frame was built of of hundreds of little hollow steel tubes about the size of a pencil welded to form a 3D matrix. In those days of course they were all made by hand. This wonderful car was the lightest - but not the cheapest - race car in the world.

I am a mechanical engineering student and I have a product design project using Gen AI and I need information about the algorithms, model and libraries that I can use in this jste project to start my first step in the project and thank you very much

I can see the benefits of Generative Design improving the designs of the orthopedic implants I design. What software do you recommend to generate such geometries?

I can see Generative Design being used in suspension components for cars. I can also see a kind of frictionless driveline with Graphene being used for electromagnetism.

Hi, thanks for the video. Do you know if generative design could be used for natural frequency optimization?

  • @dusty4896
    @dusty4896 3 роки тому

We need a AI that can simulate and test the designs of the generated AI and get rid of parts that are not up to certain standards so that the AI generator can recreate it, therefore countering the evolution issues and overall making the AI more creative and efficient.

why design a nice chair, when your computer can design an ugly one?

Let say we want to go to Mars or jus looking for efficiency in cargo ships . Weight can save you money, resources in production and exploitations. This kind of design give so many practical and economical benefits. And beauty is subjective :)

Neh, you can cover the structure with your design, the idea behind generative design is to get the same strength for a structure with way less materials, making the product lighter and cheaper.

Works ok as long as you have ALL THE LOAD CASES COVERED

    • @xXPsych0DadXx

There is always a weakest link. You can only cover in calculations most cases. Imagine constructing a bike that can take a side load ( hit ) - that would change shape of it dramatically. But is it necessary ?

I'm not impressed by experiments with fusions GD. All said and done the parts were the same weight and basically the same strength. Further GD locks you down a design road of more GD. The organic nature of GD makes it difficult to adopt conventional parts into a GD system. If your structure is not right angles how do you mount stuff? How would you even make a parts ecosystem in something as flued as GD? The ability to reuse common parts in a family product line would be very complicated.

This video is so wrong! Yes nature is very good in designing stuff, everyone would be having so much time to do optimization.
First, human design simple table only if that is human desire (I suggest you type "table design" in google next time). Second human consider many factors when designing something even as simple as table. So human will design quality, beautiful, stylish, ergonomic table that is fast, easy and affordable to make. A.I. will design table 30% lighter than some overengineered (to make A.I. look good) counterpart, with compromised ergonomics, aesthetics, quality that will look like it was design by Flinstones and will be expensive and time consuming to make because it can be made using only one technology. So human won't even look at weight because 1: table main purpose is to provide stable surface 2: he can estimate the weight even though it's not necessary. But A.I main objective is weight optimization. Congratulations A.I. you are an idiot.
Btw it's a rather bold statement to say "I designed it", when computer did for you. Don't you feel obsolete yet?
