My fiance's last vehicles transmission went out. I told her we would go and look at an automall and pick between Mazda, kia, Chevy, Jeep, and Nissan. We tested a few different 5 passenger SUV's including 1 or 2 compact SUV's. We ultimately liked the Mazda CX-5 for similar reasons. For me Mazda sold me on how that vehicle drove. I find it a super fun drive especially when it comes to twisty roads. The car feels like an extension of your body. Which is kind of their moto. For her it was how elegant and nice the interior felt. We tried Kia's that felt a little stiff and didn't feel like they were really warm to the touch. Mazda has some things that not everyone will love (infotainment primarily), but we both found the CX-5 to truly feel like something special. I personally love my 2023 Subaru Forester, but the next time I am in the market, I might just check out a CX-50.
Good video. The Mazda CX-5 is at the top of my list for a new SUV. I am deciding if it's worth the extra $5k to jump from the Carbon Edition to the CX-5 Turbo model for the turbo, ventilated seats, wireless charging and heads up display.
It absolutely is worth it. The Turbo engine is amazing. It is super smooth. The ventilated seats and heads up display are crucial to overall experience. Warmer weather like California you'll be thankful for those cooled seats. Heads-up display gives you everything you need even navigation info if you're using Mazda system. I'm still breaking in my Turbo trim but I'm blown away. What has surprised me the most is how useful and smooth Mazda radar cruise control is. When I'm stuck in traffic or even if I'm too tired to drive I just steer and let the car do it's thing. It works amazingly well as long as you're focused on road and have your foot ready to break. It is a great stress reliever.
I've always liked the CX5, but now a days it does look just a tad bit dated. I say give it a huge refresh for 2024 and give all of its competitors a run for their money.
We had ours for 2 and1/2 years, very happy. The Turbo engine is worth the extra money. Ride is a bit on the stiff side with 19'' wheels but my wife is ok with it.
Even though the interior looks a bit aged, it is yet indeed a beautiful and very reliable car. May be a hybrid version of this CX5 will rock this Mazda against the fierce SUV competitors.
CX5 exterior design is time , but the interior design needs a major redesign with more power bigger screens and digital cluster and a panoramic glass roof. The rear wiper got to good when the redesign the CX5 for 2025
The Kona N (2.0L) gets 276 hp with regular, plus extra with premium. ( This mazda has 2.5L engine, less m.p.g) better warranties, about same price . still, any Mazda, Toyota, Kia, or Hyundai are far ahead of the little 3 and honda junk.🤯💯💥
Mazda is copying BMW old infotainment systems for years now sooooooo why don’t they copying the new iDrive 8 infotainment system at least they will have something new in their vehicles

The rear seat back does recline.
Pretty nice for a company that started out as a cork manufacturer.
Lauren, do these new Mazdas still have the "zoom-zoom" that Mazda is famous for?

That 227 HP is with regular gas ⛽. It's 250 with premium gas ⛽.
True
@@CarCoachReports and 320 ft/lbs of torque instead of 310
The Mazda CX-5 is the perfect blend of style and performance.

Not in 2024. Another very small update.
So given the choice would you choose this or the BMW X1? Because I think you seemed to like driving the Beemer better
That white rhodium pearlescent paint is beautiful..... love the interior too. Was it reasonably quiet in the cabin???

I would honestly spend a bit more and go for a Rav4.
