I enjoy the dive into various features and functions. Many times when you understand so much more about a thing, it makes the appreciation for it that much more as well.
Yeah.. the Bluetooth thing sucks. Casio rips your data and location every six hours. Including device id etc. So dumb. The radio thing still rules. This is just ridiculous.
To check when the last atomic time calibration or bluetooth calibration happened, see 6:40. Thank you for this! For some reason this isn't in the manual. I've been searching for a while.
I've has recently bought a Casio GW-B5600 with inverted display and this video help me to know when was the last multiband 6 sync. I'm using and android app that simulated the British DCF77 radio. Next I'll try to improve the British or the German reception. BTW your reviews help me to decide which model to buy. Thank you very much, Greg, your help was very important for my decision and easy to understand even when enghish is not my mother's language. (I enjoy your Spanish video, it was flawless)
It does NOT synchronize with ATOMIC time through the app - it gets the PHONE's time, which gets the time from the CARRIER, and this is usually a good way off. In fact, to regain syncing with ATOMIC time, you have to UNPAIR the watch using a a procedure you can find somewhere on the internet - and ONLY THEN it will sync with atomic time again. The app is a phone battery drainer, and not even the battery readout makes it worth keeping it. Once the battery has been charged to the max, you don't need to care about the battery state anymore as long as you keep the watch in good light at least some hours a day. None of my Citizen Eco-Drive watches have a battery state indicator, they'll only warn if the battery would get too low - which has never happened to me once in a couple of years. For the six reminders one can have per year, the smartphone calendar will be a WAY better way, without any silly limitations. Once one has chosen his favourite five time zones, that will rarely ever change - so the app is really of no use at all. I have unpaired my Casio and deleted the app - the bluetooth functionality is the biggest nonsense I ever fell for. The BC-1 watch is a nice watch still - only the BT is complete junk.
Thank u my friend. I can finally get the gw5000 in peace now. So ur sure the bluetooth is useless? I mean what if u go somewhere that doesnt have one of the 6 towers?
To me bluetooth is very useful since my country doesn't receive any of 6 stations. And if I can't find my phone, I just easily press D button for 5 sec, if within reach, my phone will ring very loud. Also if go to neighbouring country with different time zone, it will automatically update the time or just press D to get local time from your phone
Hi Greg. Enjoy your channel. Question: Have you ever changed out the rechargeable battery in a module 3459/3461 ? I have a GW-B5600 and a GMW-B5000 and it seems they won't charge past 50%. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for all the resources you provide.
11:27 What are the rightward triangle between the colon dots and the decimal point after the minutes for? I don’t remember them being used anywhere in the interface…
Is it really needed? Apparently it can last 10 months on full charge. I doubt anyone will be keeping this watch in the dark for more than a few months unless they forgot about it.
@Ivan J Happy 2020. It's almost 3am in Sydney, Australia. I just like to believe that my newly purchased G-Shock for Christmas will stay powered on without worry for the battery. As long as I'm outside; enjoying cycling, archery and the sun it should be great for decades. My model is the GWB5600AR-1 and it's bloody great.
I noticed that the atomic time and Bluetooth sync is off a fraction of a second it don't really matter however i did notice lol great video thank you for them !!!
Once paired, it won't sync by radio anymore unless it's unpaired again. Which isn't described in the manual, you have to find it on the internet. The BT app is a battery drainer, thus I unpaired it again.
hi.. i have a GW-B5600, similar to the one that you are showing on this video... however i have an issue.. when you press both on the left side and bottom right to activate the lcd check mode, once it's there, and you press the top right button, it will show IDC in the display box(i do know know what this means) and when you press again top right, it will show bluetooth icon and EXE in the display box, either u press again top right button or wait after awhile, mine will show NG. i have seen alot of video showing OK, but mine shows NG.... may i know what does it means, also does yours shows NG or OK? would be of great help.... thank you.
These things are not mentioned at all in the user manual so I can only guess. I tried pressing the buttons the same way you did and it showed NG on mine. Then I connected to my phone with Bluetooth and tried again. Of course, the Bluetooth disconnected at that point. When I reached the NG display I played with a few buttons and I can’t remember what I did except that, eventually, it did show OK for a little while. I tried to do it again and I kept getting NG. I think that as long as your watch is doing all of its normal functions then you don’t need to worry about these unexplained functions.
@@GoodTimekeeper the thing is that, it keep reset itself to 12:00:00 and including the date and setting (when it's working, g shock app shows that battery is about 80% full).. not sure why its behaving that way.. i even bought a replacement battery (the correct one) and looking into google, i found very little info about this.. and this is the first gshock i have which is having issue.. i own 3 other g shock, which are all fine.. gosh~ headache... and it's no longer under warranty...
I just bought the same model as in the video and this is my 1st ever G-Shock. I did the same as you did, it appeared numbers such as 2404 9 or 2476 9 with FREQ in upper right box. Then I pressed B button to EXE(cute) then after a while NG appeared. What I understand NG is very Japanese for No Go/doesn't work/fail. After NG, if you press C button, it will show numbers I mentioned. I think this is the test which frequency unique to device to receive certain frequency from atomic transmitter. I don't know for sure, I'm just guessing. Anyway, from that point it's a bit scary because I couldn't go back to normal face, I thought I just broke my newly bought watch, but then I tried to press A and C at the same time for few seconds, the face came to normal again and my watch works normally
I've had a Bluetooth model for a couple weeks and the battery has always shown half battery. No matter how much it's in the sun I never increases. Any ideas?
I have a spot in the back yard where I can put a watch on a lawn chair and it’s safe to leave it there for a while. Then the watch can get full, unfiltered sun for a few hours. That always seems to snap the watches to full charges pretty quickly.
I have a DBE30-1. I had the same problem . After changing the rechargeable battery it is back to normal. Never let the power to get too low which degrades the battery.
Yes, when I changed the app setting to use my location ONLY while using the app and I wasn’t leaving the app running in the background then the watch started using Multi band 6 again.
@@odouroushouseant Cool great info in there, although I would like to add one thing to those instructions... and that is that you don't need to uninstall and then reinstall the app. All that needs to be done is to clear the Data Storage to return the app back to zero, like it's there but it hasn't been used yet. From the phone's Home Screen: Settings Apps G-SHOCK Force Stop Storage Clear Data No need to Clear Cache because clearing the Data takes care of the Cache as well, and returns the app back to the way it was before it was ever opened, which has the benefit of not having to go into the Play Store, finding the app and downloading it again. I guess if they want to save a little time, and you're really dead set on uninstalling/reinstalling, then after clearing the App Data, you could just go down to App Details in Store, click that banner, uninstall it from within the store, then reinstall it from the same page. But just make sure to Force Stop and Clear the Data before uninstalling it. That will remove any residual traces of the app and it give you a true 100% clean reinstall just like it never happened before.
Hi Sir. I try the slr test. I cover the watch and comes 8888 but after nothing (even if exposed to artificial light)... Always 8888. Is it maybe broken or its ok? Thanks
No, it's fine. It's just a one time quick check just to let you know that the function is doing what it's supposed to be doing. If you back out, then check the setting again, the display won't do anything until you cover the screen again, then it should show "8888" after you cover the screen again.

One question, receiving from BT is the same accuracy than Radio?
Does the GW B5600 SG7 have the same features as this one. Like the reminders and location features with the bluetooth app.
Once paired, it won't sync by radio anymore unless it's unpaired again. Which isn't described in the manual, you have to find it on the internet.

Ok, every one has an smart phone. But shouldn´t CASIO pack al the funktionality also readable on the watch itself? Doesn´t understand this.
I'm very grateful for this video.

Not all Gshock are perfect..
All of the radio synced watches are syncronized, you can tell the Bluetooth watch synced over Bluetooth because it isn't.
