The Power of Compunction

  • On October 13, 1917, the little shepherdess Lucia asked Our Lady at Fatima, “I have many things to ask of You: to heal some sick people and to convert some sinners…” The beautiful Lady responded: “Some, yes; others, no. People must amend their lives and ask pardon for their sins. [then growing still more sad, She added] They must not offend Our Lord any more for He is already too much offended.” Our Lady said some of the prayers, conversions, and healings would be denied. Why? These people were not committed to amending their lives. They did not have true contrition… Better yet, they had no compunction. In other words, Our Lord and His Mother will answer prayers, will heal…but we have to cooperate with grace to become truly Christian no matter what has happened to us, however evil, or sin we have committed in the past. St. Mary Magdalene gave herself over to evil so fully she had seven demons, yet by responding to the grace of compunction, she is now numbered among the greatest saints in heaven. Compunction can be defined simply as the piercing of the heart with habitual contrition. Those with compunction are not just sorry some of the time or sorry when they feel the damage their sins have caused themselves or others. No, it is habitual sorrow for what their sins have done to His Majesty! How they have hurt God and His Church. Those with compunction understand completely the meaning of Our Lady’s words: “People must not offend Our Lord any more for He is already too much offended.” For more please visit www.reginaprophetarum & please say 3 Hail Marys for Father

    Compunction: A strong uneasiness caused by a sense of guilt: synonym: penitence.
    A sting of conscience or a pang of doubt aroused by wrongdoing.
    Thank you Father, prayers for you.

      Dream,..……….People have different dispositions. Some people do pray in their hearts but others have the urge to share their prayer. Nothing is wrong with that as long as the person is not doing it to show off or get praise themselves.

    But Mine eye hath spared thee, because thy soul was precious in My sight; that thou mightest know My love, and mightest be thankful for My benefits; and that thou mightest give thyself altogether to true subjection and humility, and patiently bear the contempt which thou meritest. I don't know how these videos get selected per say, but I'd also like to hear one on scrupulosity. I was recently caught up in this. I wasn't going up to receive communion because I was too paranoid to go to Confession because during the Act of Contrition you promise not to commit the sin again. But aren't most of us stuck commiting the same types of sins over and over? So then aren't we lying if we aren't ready to make sure we stop? TBC, I understand now it has to do with your honest intention in that moment. But there's an example anyway. 🤦

      The Holy Eucharist is not the prize for the righteous but a medicine for those who seek healing and merciful graces from God. The most important thing for God is not the number of times we fall into the same sin but how we rise up from it. But, do not forget to go to confession first especially if we have the opportunity to do so, a contrite heart is good but confession is a sacrament and it is important to receive Holy Communion worthily. But God is not a judge but a loving & merciful Father, so if you are truly sorry & struggling to overcome the same sin, it is only God who sees your heart clearly.

    • @vigildino6518
      @vigildino6518 4 роки тому +1

      Cassy,...……….I was like you at one time and this one Carmelite priest told me during confession that he absolves all the sins I have committed in the past whether I remember them or not. That put me at ease at the time, and after many years I lost most of the scrupulosity. They say that people with OCD have this scrupulosity more than others, since it is a sort of obsession in a way.

      @@jongricafort4 Well to clarify, for me the repetitive sins are intentional habits. I formed them for selfish comfort. So like a drug addict, in a way, I almost know I'm going to re-offend. So I hope I'm not coming off as thinking it's about being superior. Just trying to be honest that I *feel* (feelings can be irrational) that habitual sinning doesn't seem to jive well with the language we use in the confessional. My brain keeps thinking either the wording is off, or I'm a terrible liar! 😅

    The power of compunction...” Our Lady said some of the prayers, conversions, and healings would be denied. Why? These people were not committed to amending their lives. They did not have true contrition… Better yet, they had no compunction."..
    How to understand and relate it in our times? A Holy Mass and rosary prayers and even fasting & praying becomes powerless to invoke the graces of God to flow, why? The graces of God flows and emanates from the Church united to the Vicar of Christ. If we are doing all the pious acts but harboring pride & disobedience to the Vicar of Christ this will surely block the flow of graces. If we ignore Peter we ignore Christ(Matthew16:19), more so attacking Peter we directly attack Jesus Himself(Acts9:4) and lastly if we utter lies to Peter we can suffer immediate death if we say it infront of the Pope(Acts5:3-ff).
    God reminded King David, "Do not touch my anointed one.."(Psalm105:15).

I also recommend you go to FranciscanFriar youtube channel and listen to Fr Ignatius. His homilies are treasure. They focus on the things we need to do to merit salvation. They are short and to the point.

      Hi Melinda! He does quite often. In this talk, he happened to use some sources from tradition and give us examples from the inspiring lives of great Christians, surrounded by and directly relevant to the scripture readings you would have heard (and seen lived out!) if this video contained the whole Mass. Did you ever wonder how the early Christians were taught for the hundreds of years before there was a Bible? "Paul says that much Christian teaching is to be found in the tradition which is handed down by word of mouth (2 Tim. 2:2). He instructs us to 'stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter' (2 Thess. 2:15)." The above quote is from a helpful little article explaining the scriptural basis for why Catholics learn from more than scripture alone at www.catholic.com/tract/scripture-and-tradition. Hope it's useful and thanks for asking! 🤗

      AnnaMaria Cardinalli ...my issue is with the traditions of men that supersede the written Word of God. When a Catholic Mass only has a couple of readings of a couple of Scripture verses & then an entire sermon that speaks nothing of the Truth of God’s Word, but only stories from extra Biblical writings, then that doesn’t teach about God or His Son. What is the point of even going to church if you’re not going to be taught God’s Word?

      Matthew Giordano...oh believe me, I have been to plenty of Catholic masses as I was raised Catholic & went to Catholic schools for 28yrs.
