    I think I missed my vocation to be a teaching sister. I didn't learn the Catholic Faith, although baptized in infancy. No fault of my own. I converted at age 45 after a long search for Truth. I quit dating at age 30 upon realizing I was very unlikely to find a suitable mate, and I just wasn't really interested that much. I find myself at age 59, working 60+ hours per week, living paycheck to paycheck, no family, no clear mission in life, just existing. Most depressing is the realization that as of September 30 of this year, every wedding I've ever been to or a part of, has ended in divorce. At this point, my goal is to pray the Rosary every day, get to Mass as often as I'm able, and stay in a state of grace.

      You could still be a sister. You have to look REALLY hard, as Idid, for traditional orders that take older women. I missed my vocation as the church just fell apart in the early 70s, just before I was 21, and all the nuns changed or left. The bewildering changes kept me from conversion until I was 54. For 15 years after that I looked for vocation. I found one place, a real order with all the right approvals, etc. I lasted six weeks. It was too late, I'm too old. I'm 71 now, it's over. But maybe 11 years ago I could hve done it. I So I too, say the rosary and attend mass and even say the office occasionally in a traditional setting. Life really is a vale of tears. I'm so grateful for my faith.

      falldown6getup7 I know of only one legitimate traditional order that accepts older women. It's in France and a prerequisite is being able to speak French, get there on you own dime. If it doesn't work out, you're on your own. It's a contemplative order, not in accord with my temperament. I'm sure they are all Holy sisters, but being enclosed is definitely not for me.

      I think that one of the fall-outs of the age and because of the disarray in the Church is the issue of so many who have not been able to follow a more set course either as a religious or married with this type of protocols and knowledge as laid out by Fr.
      The lack of Catholic Culture and lack of proper guidance by clergy has led to countless people walking around unchained from their proper vocation and state in life. This in the extreme has led to loss of souls even and at minimum has made the path to holiness and virtue much much harder than had it been withing a proper vocation or state.
      There is hope in the Cross of course, in the sacraments and devotions like the Rosary. We can only offer our sufferings and struggles to God through Mary and pray for strength and help.
      God Bless

      Being single is not a vocation. It's not a sacrament, you were probably called to religious life or marriage. And it's never too late to do either!

    I still see it perfectly fine and even prudent to date before your completely ready to get married. Even if you're not quite yet ready it's still useful to use that time to get to know people in that particular way to find out who it might be. You should be able to determine that even before you're completely ready, granted your at least doing what you can to be on track to eventually be ready.

    • @TheKevin9000

      +Unclenate1000 He said this doesn't mean you don't get to know people of the opposite sex. But you don't "date" before you're ready. There are plenty of acceptable settings where you can be friends without it being a date.

    The inability to provide for a woman does not necessarily make someone any less of a man, especially in an economy built on sand.

      Yes, it is befitting for women to seek men who are industrious and responsible, yet those traits are important for men to seek in women, too.

      There are hardly any circumstances in a modern 1st world country where you can’t provide for your wife... Aside from being significantly physically or mentally disabled. Providing for your family doesn’t mean catering to every want and desire. If the basics are hard to provide then you live in the wrong state. (Unless your not American) Hope the best for you.

      @@michaelwalker7042 Some women are industrious and that's not necessarily bad, but it seems better that men should seek a tempered, prudent and modest woman. God has not tasked women with industriousness.
      Also, hardships arise despite masculinity, but a truly masculine man will love a woman as flesh of his flesh and bone of his bone. In a state of destitution, he will likely cause her harm if pursues her. A masculine man will put her first by denying himself and doing what is arduous. If she sees him withstand this for her to the end, it's pretty much irresistible. May God bless you!

      @@dymphnatherese2595 I'd like to believe that, but in this day and age and from what I've seen of life, chances are she will just off and marry someone richer in the meantime rather than grow financially with him... but I should clarify that what I mean by industriousness is not career ambition so much as willingness to perform tasks in general, as motherhood/childrearing/maintaining a home requires just as much fortitude (if not more) than a work-a-day career as such.

    • @dymphnatherese2595
      @dymphnatherese2595 4 роки тому +7

      @@michaelwalker7042 it sounds like ultimately you're referring to "a woman of sufficient virtue." Fr. Chad Ripperger has addressed this in a video on motherhood. She's hard to find in the modern day. According to Scripture, she always has been. If you are called to marriage and have not yet found her, I pray God be your match maker. Keep hope, my friend. If God wants you with a Proverbs 31 woman and there truly are none, He can make one for you. Jesus, we trust in You.

    "When a man falls his soul becomes course, but when a woman falls her soul become devilish . . . Adam was perfect but he was taken out by Eve." I sincerely doubt that portion of this otherwise excellent preaching is accurate. What about those of us who were seduced by our fathers and sexually ruined by them as tiny girls? Was it not the devlish souls of MEN that took us out? Come on. Pull your socks up Sensus Fidelium

    • @Tombuchaill
      @Tombuchaill 4 роки тому +5

      The way I interpreted his comment about women being devilish is that because they have the moral leadership role, when they fall the morals of the society fall with them. 'Devilish' is an unfortunate use of words but apt I suppose as the Devil is present in the moral breakdown of societies. I do think some men can see aberrant women as the root cause of all the problems in society, and can conveniently forget about their own contributions sometimes. My parents were Catholic and were at each other throats all the time, they both had faults though as far as qualities of a Christian marriage are concerned. I didn't want to get married though as I didn't want to be fighting everynight with a man, it seemed to be a waste of energy.
