1. Big fan of the video style. Very informal and it doesn't feel constrained. 2. The set is . . . cool. Looks fantastic, but the skills are strange. I get that it's supposed to be the unflinching purity of earth, but it's still kind of meh. 3. I have the same Akai and those things are dope for the price.
I personally kinda enjoy it just because it's the only set in the game that rewards you for wearing 5/5 pieces. Don't get me wrong, I love mixed set potential and breakpoints at 2+4 or 3 are really flexible for that but I think it's nice that there's a set out there that says "you can wear all of me, and I look amazing. Also my skills are okayish and I've got enough slots that you can gem in most of what you're missing". As far as utility skills go, being able to turn every mantle into knockoff rocksteady is pretty damn utilitarian. The way I see it, shara's set is the ultimate "comfy braindead mode" set. Slap on your handicraft charm or razor sharp charm, gem in a little more handicraft if you need to for your weapon, gem in some attack skills, get yourself a weapon with health aug, slap on your "rocksteady", and just go to town. Sometimes you just need to grind the everloving fuck out of something and with this you can turn off most of your brain while you do it. The set comes with recovery up 2/3 so even with the nerf to health aug you'll be healing up pretty efficiently just from keeping up the pressure. It's not perfect, and your mileage may vary on deco hungry weapons or weapons that REALLY don't work well with health augs like bow or spread bowguns, but for everything else it can be nice.
You're an artist, stick with inspiration and what makes you feel good, the results will always be good as long as you're enjoying yourself. The set looks so good but I only used the belt for the health boost, while I was working on getting brute tigrex's chest; I wish it was layered... like honestly this game needs transmog. I still cling to the idea that they'd rework KT and make her a cosmetics monster, IDK what stops them from doing that :l
Good news. In the new Dev diary, they explicitly said that for now they'll make the base armors layered armors. They even showed some clips in the Dev diary.
I like the airy, comfortable feel of these videos. The music really ties it all together, and could make longer videos easier to sit through. This is an excellent, informal video that feels relaxed, but helpful at the same time. I'd love to see more like it in the future.
I like this less formal style and the addition of the music my only feed back is that the music could be mixed a little lower as you were kind of competeing for space with it a bit at points
Really liked the guitar at 3:50. Had a very murky and ethereal texture previously and as you approach the end of the video you bring out this line which peaks out from the clouds. Love the way you manage those things in your music.

I like Shara's set, allows one to be aggrisive and with the right blight res mantle you can invalidate certain bothersome monsters. Like you showed with lunastra. Is it dps? Nah, I wouldn't say that.
People need to stray away from meta sets, it’s going to kill their drive to play the game. I would know, I grinded all of gold rathians weapons the second I hit MR 70 and now I’m bored as no other weapons are appealing to me now. I made deepest night even though it’s not good, I like the look of it and lemme tell you looking at that piss yellow longsword got real old. Refresh yourself, no one is going to shit on you for not wearing the “meta” set. Sharas set is INSANELY fun to solo with. Seriously, rocksteady on every mantle will give you so much versatility. I use the assassins hood mantle for extra movement speed with dual blades and it is INSANE

Good vid as always man, love the music! One thing that wasn't mentioned was that the AC collab mantle lasts a full 6 minutes, so keeping the buff while your useful mantles are down is definitely possible
That effect only happens if you use the mantle before combat, if you use it after you get the monsters attention it has no effect but you get to use the set bonus, it's great
What a coincidence just yesterday night I decided to play around with the 4 and 5 pc bonus of the set. Arrived at pretty much the same conclusions as you ^^ I like hunting with it ... smooth sailing even if the hunts take slightly longer :)
The music is beautiful and as a new fan I enjoy this format. Only criticism is to turn down the background music a bit, your deep voice kind of blends with the synth pretty hard lol Otherwise great video. Love Sharas weapons, meh on the armor, as beautiful as it is.
talking of "is X monster set worth it?" people that ask, I have a large For Honor clan and a good amount of us play MHW, with a lot of newer players to the series that haven't made it to endgame yet. I've always vouched for the BV Val set the very second you can farm him. good defense and set bonus is fantastic if you or your palico runs a shield/shield gadget. I use it above a majority of other sets for general use and can confirm that while >not being hit is most effective, free instarecovery while you aren't being aggroed, letting you continue fighting where you'd otherwise have to waste time running> sheathing> healing> etc. is far too good to pass up. plus it's my favorite pokepalico meme build set (rally tier 5, get HBG w shield, literally sit afk in a corner facing monster while palico kills for you.) best relatively late game set for general use imho w how versatile it is.
Full Shara is pretty damn pimp for HH. Been using it with ruiner nergi horn and when Coalescence procs, you get really nice damage. Not to mention it has plenty of room to get your full crit eye, tenderizer, and c.boost. It's like playing your music ad-free
Henry my man.... you did not mention the best Mantle for the ishvalda set bonus and I have noticed no one is talking about it...the Ishvalda set goes perfect with the Assassin's Creed Hood Mantle...the Mantle last for 6 minutes and the recharge is 3 mins without tool specialist. You equip the Mantle when the monster has already aggro on you and you'll have the buffs for 6 minutes 😁😁😁 If the monster has not noticed you and you attack it breaks...it's not an exploit or anything like that; this is how it was since MHW, I know because I used it for the small boost in damage for my Pierce HBG. PLEASE TRY IT OUT...MORE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS AWESOME MANTLE AND SET BONUS WORKING TOGETHER.

I looked at the set bonus for this armor and determined I should at least make it for a Hunting Horn build. Wearing it means I don't have to give a damn about almost anything the monster is doing while I doot if I gem in Tool Specialist and properly switch out my mantles (you can totally be mantled for 100% of the time if you play your cards right). Quite comfy.
I use it for IG, glider mantle with temp mantle. The glaive does paralysis and thanks tool specialists i have a mantle on for the whole fight. Reminds me of the generation ultimate set i built which is why i love playing it
I posted this earlier in one of TheGameconomist's streams, but here are some tips for making use of Shara Ishvalda's set and the Coalescence skill. You only need one level of Tool Specialist to reduce the cooldown of -proof mantles enough to continually cycle through them. Since the mantles are always active, feel free to add WEX and other damage boosting skills to them. The glider mantle may not bring damage mitigation to the table, but it allows you to deal mounting damage by clutching the monster and leaping off. Coalescence is nothing to sneeze at and comes with the set, so build it all the way out. Two levels of Blight Resistance limit the danger of activating ailments, though embracing Resuscitate can buff your defensive abilities even further. Since it adds elemental damage but Shara gear excludes Critical Element, Coalescence here works best with elemental weapons that favor raw, like Nergigante's or Velkhana's. Status bonuses don't tend to actually proc more unless you go all in, so save that 15% status boost for Gold Rathian cosplays. While damage is usually the bar we measure builds by, I do think defensive and utility skills are often underrated. Nothing ruins a hunt more than other hunters carting, and who enjoys fighting Vaal Hazak or Kushala Daora without neutering their gimmicks? Still, I appreciate all the work you put in your videos!
There is probably something to be said for the fact that with Mantles on this gives you just about everything defensive you could need with room to spare. The opportunity cost for the skills is so much lower than normal that it seems very reasonable to run this as a comfy set that doesn't completely hamstring your damage in the name of utility.
I find that, for Iceborne, a mix between defensive and offensive skills is pretty valuable. I know I could just git gud, but the defensive bonuses are so easy to pair with offensive this time around, that there's no downside to going both. I have a few sets that boast divine protection 5, health boost and still get crit eye, weakness exploit, critical boost, etc. The Gold Rath armor is just too good to not pair alongside other armors. These sets are great because you can easily clear monsters in 7-10 minutes, while having a comfortable, stress-free fight. Perhaps once armors are completely augmented for defense it's not necessary, however, for fighting tempered elder dragons in the guiding lands, I do feel a good mix between defense and offense is best.
This might be really nice for lances online with all the longsword users and what not. Using the challenger mantle (whatever one draws aggro) with this can allow you to fully function as the team's tank.
I paired it with the Hazek head and arms as well as the defense charm and turned it into a super health and defense set. That with a health augment on my insect glaive keeps me from ever dying, and I still have space to gem in some nice skills.
The set is not worth crafting for people who think about that kind of thing, but for maniacs like me who like to make insane, off-the-wall builds, it's absolutely worth it. However, can't deny that the skills aren't very efficient at all (Health and Crit Boost are nice, but I'm really not sure what stuff like Partbreaker or Coalescense are doing on the set. I guess Partbreaker is thematic but I don't see where Coalescense comes in) and Gaia's Veil is interesting but not practical. IMO they should've either given the set more traditional skills like some WEX on it, OR leaned even further into Gaia's Veil for something insane. For example, *what I would've done with True Gaia's Veil is that in addition to having all those mantle bonuses, while you are wearing a mantle, you have EVERY skill Secret in the game active at once, so you can get Divine Blessing V, Free Meal 3, Agitator 7, whatever you want.* Maybe even add +1 deco slot (of whatever related size) to all upgraded Mantles. I think a bonus like that would fit with Iceborne's new mechanics and be fun as all hell to make a build around.
As a lance player, I pack the rock steady mantle.....this seems like it's perfect for a lance player. B set with the proper decorations would be super OP
I'm running full Shara with full handicraft, crit boost, wex and crit eye. It's not full on dps but the set bonus more than makes up for it for a scrub like me. I'm also bored of running masters touch. It's awesome and you don't feel like you're hobbling your build if you don't want to wear the stupid op garuga legs. Nice vid style tho!
I'm probably going to use the set because I usually don't bother making meta gear or using the best skills, so any set is worth it for me seeing as I only use full sets
One of the issues i have with World is that full sets never seem to be worth it. With the right decorations and some creativity you can easily make a mixed set that out performs almost any full set even with those bonuses
Just as an aside you can rock the assassins creed mantle and the the set bonus for 2x the uptime of even the glider mantle and it recharges fast so run a dual maintenance jewel on glider and its basically infinite uptime you lose out on a utility for uptime but one extra skill for 8 lvl 3 slots and 8 lvl 2 slots seems value enough for me
The waist is solid, but I've already come across some solid lvl 4 cross vitality decos. So its doesnt even matter anymore. The set bonus for the the armor is a cool gimmick..However I hate how they give a beautiful looking set the ability that revolves around using mantles as much as u can. The hell do I want to cover that up for?
Theres a video explaining his set bonus. Basically it's because he's a based of a figure in a religion ( I forgot which one) and in the myth she is a woman who needs to shead layers off till she's weak (similar to his boss fight). So putting on a layer of clothing makes her or yourself more powerful. (Sorry for the horrible explanation)
It's a good set for turtling. I ran a health regen deviljho lance and glider mantle(faster cooldown, good for clutching)/immunity mantle. I'm quite surprised I can tank all death blows with this set 😳
New update might have layered Armour as an option... New biomes r also guaranteed in the update in guiding lands but no guarantees on the layered Armour yet... Hope they put the option in.

Kind of a personal question but what is your work/life balance like? to be able to grind a decent amount of monster hunter and play multiple instruments is pretty cool. Just asking cause I was thinking about picking up an instrument myself

The AC one disappears when you make an attack, plus you can only bring 2 mantles, including the Assasssin Hood.

I think the final boss set MHXX/MHGU was a perfect set for a final boss, especially since it's the final boss of the last game in the old style.

I paired it with the Hazek head and arms as well as the defense charm and turned it into a super health and defense set. That with a health augment on my insect glaive keeps me from ever dying, and I still have space to gem in some nice skills.

Coalescence is an amazing skill is always up, and with all the status effect and blights its worth the boost and it last for 90 seconds at a time
The set is not worth crafting for people who think about that kind of thing, but for maniacs like me who like to make insane, off-the-wall builds, it's absolutely worth it.
However, can't deny that the skills aren't very efficient at all (Health and Crit Boost are nice, but I'm really not sure what stuff like Partbreaker or Coalescense are doing on the set. I guess Partbreaker is thematic but I don't see where Coalescense comes in) and Gaia's Veil is interesting but not practical.
IMO they should've either given the set more traditional skills like some WEX on it, OR leaned even further into Gaia's Veil for something insane. For example, *what I would've done with True Gaia's Veil is that in addition to having all those mantle bonuses, while you are wearing a mantle, you have EVERY skill Secret in the game active at once, so you can get Divine Blessing V, Free Meal 3, Agitator 7, whatever you want.* Maybe even add +1 deco slot (of whatever related size) to all upgraded Mantles.
I think a bonus like that would fit with Iceborne's new mechanics and be fun as all hell to make a build around.

As a lance player, I pack the rock steady mantle.....this seems like it's perfect for a lance player. B set with the proper decorations would be super OP
I'm running full Shara with full handicraft, crit boost, wex and crit eye. It's not full on dps but the set bonus more than makes up for it for a scrub like me. I'm also bored of running masters touch. It's awesome and you don't feel like you're hobbling your build if you don't want to wear the stupid op garuga legs. Nice vid style tho!

I'm probably going to use the set because I usually don't bother making meta gear or using the best skills, so any set is worth it for me seeing as I only use full sets

One of the issues i have with World is that full sets never seem to be worth it. With the right decorations and some creativity you can easily make a mixed set that out performs almost any full set even with those bonuses
Just as an aside you can rock the assassins creed mantle and the the set bonus for 2x the uptime of even the glider mantle and it recharges fast so run a dual maintenance jewel on glider and its basically infinite uptime you lose out on a utility for uptime but one extra skill for 8 lvl 3 slots and 8 lvl 2 slots seems value enough for me

I run the set with glider and immunity mantle.
Both are useful mantles, and with tool specialist lv3 active you can have 100% uptime on the set bonus.

The alpha armor lets me look like a Final Fantasy summon. I'm not gonna give up the god-like fashion of the shara set just for some meager DPS!
But it's not meager though, the right set will have you doing 1.5x or more, the damage that the shara set will have you doing. It's a shame

The waist is solid, but I've already come across some solid lvl 4 cross vitality decos. So its doesnt even matter anymore.
The set bonus for the the armor is a cool gimmick..However I hate how they give a beautiful looking set the ability that revolves around using mantles as much as u can. The hell do I want to cover that up for?
Theres a video explaining his set bonus. Basically it's because he's a based of a figure in a religion ( I forgot which one) and in the myth she is a woman who needs to shead layers off till she's weak (similar to his boss fight). So putting on a layer of clothing makes her or yourself more powerful. (Sorry for the horrible explanation)

It's a good set for turtling. I ran a health regen deviljho lance and glider mantle(faster cooldown, good for clutching)/immunity mantle. I'm quite surprised I can tank all death blows with this set 😳
Layered armor pls Capcom. It's EASILY one of my favorite sets ever.
New update might have layered Armour as an option... New biomes r also guaranteed in the update in guiding lands but no guarantees on the layered Armour yet... Hope they put the option in.
@@3rdworldgwaming467 I wouldn't mind it if you unlock layered armors by exchanging rare materials like mantles or tenderplates or rare guiding lands materials or whatever for a ticket to work towards getting the layered set.

Kind of a personal question but what is your work/life balance like? to be able to grind a decent amount of monster hunter and play multiple instruments is pretty cool.
