This might be the first time in history I actually watched an ad twice lol. That was hilarious
No thanks. Not fan of lawyer ads. Thank God for fast forward button..
2:47 should have mounted it on the hood or roof instead, would have looked better and saved bed space.
Very disappointing to see reputable reviewers like yourselves associate with scumbag attorneys like Morgan and Morgan.
The big multi-state Plaintiff law firms tend to get worse results for their clients…
I wish they made an SUV version of this, what the Blazer should be
Yes
A Proper 2 Door! Not a Fugly Family Van/Station estate wagon w/4wd 😂 ffs.
Or bring back the k5 and s-10 blazers
100%
@elliottlee1050 yes...
Can't wait for the comparison tests. Competition breeds excellence. I love it.
Heck yea!
Just imagine how perfect this truck would be with the Silverado 1500's Duramax inline 6 diesel !! Or 6.2 V8 🙂
I'd totally pay extra for a V8
Even a 5.3 add a supercharger later
🥹that would be amazing
Some serious upgrades here I like it. The midsize market is definitely on fire right now.
I like it. Its basically all the essential armor and tire upgrades an enthusiast would do... But from the factory with a warranty. Plus those jounce shocks will really improve ride quality when youre pushing the truck very hard. Kudos to GM for putting a 35" on a factory mid-size truck. I hope Ford and Jeep take note and do the same soon.
Jeep has the extreme recon package that has 35's and Ford I think has the Sasquatch Bronco with 35's. Jeep, 4.56 gears and Bronco, I think has 4.70.
They've done that PLUS added HP
@@drewolm only in the Wrangler and Bronco though. For the Gladiator, max stock tire size is 33, although you can fit 35s with no lift on Mojave and Rubicons, and the Ranger is also maxxed at 33s
Such a cool truck. I wish they could have made the Silverado look as good as this truck does.
Silverado Bison looks badass as well !
Wish the Silverado zr2 had 35s
THE DECAL ON THE BACK TAILGATE HAD BUBBLES IN IT LOL.
Absolutely love all these new unaffordable trucks! Hoping to finally get one when the bubbles burst! 😅
Me too to the bubble seems to only keep growing and i fear when it does bust no one is going to be doing normal transactions😅 it’ll be mad max time
You can always buy a base model. If you want the highest trim, you have to pay for it. That's how it's always been and always will be.
@@Gammaaf Highest trim used to be a 40k truck, then things went crazy. If the Fed stops raising rates in January 2024, we should see a recession follow in 2025. We will see what markets crash then if they don't keep raising the cieling. War over the Taiwan straits is looming too.
Really Nice truck!
Great job Kase!
I think the Ranger Raptor will likely outperform this ZR2 given its larger engine.
Very much looking forward to TFL pitting them against each other in some head-to-head challenges this summer.
Tacoma and colorado are the good ones for off road..ranger is just a stylish sliver spoon kid
They should've given it a bump in power, especially with added weight on top of a already hefty truck. 400HP would've been awesome.
Just a tune away. 😂😂. They will match or beat the competition if they feel a need. Then there’s the aftermarket,,,
@@shitloveaduck A tune can go from 310hp to 400hp?
@@joelesparza8812 - it’s something GM would be able to offer, if they choose, to allow this motor to compete. I haven’t looked closely, but I did see one tune claim 395 hp. It was mostly hypothetical. I don’t think they need it except maybe in the ZR2 to compete with the top models. Ford is only 315 Ho and 400 lb ft of torque in the 2.7 EcoBoost they will be offering. If it performs similarly as it does in the F150, it could still be the fastest in the group. It also doesn’t exactly need more power at the main levels because the Raptor has 405 hp!!
GM have decided with the full size Silverado ZR2, not to compete with the Raptor F150 or Ram TRX in the HP wars and offer a slightly cheaper choice in the class and maybe fill a niche. They may do the same with the Colorado ZR2. Who knows??
By the way, the Ford 2.7 EcoBoost has tunes out there that take it way over 400 hp and even 500 lb ft of torque. Electronic tuning is cheap & significant power gains for not much $$$. It’s a great thing!
@@shitloveaduckfrom what I’ve seen to make it more than 400hp you need upgrades. Intake, exhaust, ect.
@@Walterrinho - that gets a little more expensive then! That’s too bad. Easy enough for the manufacturer to update later for minimal cost, but if you already own one & want/need the power, ouch.
Thanks for the information. I will have to do some research now. I’m not necessarily buying one, but it’s great to garner knowledge.
Hope you have a great day!
They say all this stuff about power and skid plates and how it's a great truck. Seen all brands that say the same and once it puts its tires on the navajo reservation, trucks weep because we really put trucks to the real test. Haul 300 plus gallons of water 20 plus miles. Muddy dirt roads for 30 miles back to the house, snow..my father inlaw new 2023 chevy 3500 brakes started locking up after 5,000 miles while hauling water and went into limp mode..all these just delay the problems to come with vehicles..test it like what most people that live out in the country will put these trucks thru..
Looks great gotta see it out in the trails to give an honest opinion how this truck stacks up against competitors.
I still wish Chevy would've kept the diesel engine option for these mid-size trucks... beyond that, though, I'm going to keep watching to see how this first year of the Bison plays out before deciding whether to trade in my diesel 2020 Bison...
Ultimately... The only reason would have been some fuel economy benefit. But with the price of diesel these days and DEF... The savings there would be minimal at best. And the new gas engine actually makes more torque (let alone tons more HP). I don't think the 3.0L Duramax would fit for a few reasons either (I6 and mated only to the longer 10-speed). The Gladiator will no longer have a diesel option either come next year. Diesel in the mid-size segment is dead.
@@PeakDeclinediesel is dead in midsize and halfton. GM is just buying their time with the 3.0.
If they could have stuffed the big 3.0 duramax in there and a rear bumper spare tire mount or roof rack tire mount…..this would be a game changer.
They definitely need 1 or 2 more engine choices….hard to believe they went from as many as they had to 1.
@@semiauto3148 Technically it is 2. The base turbo 4 is a cheap variant that doesn't all of the high strength internals. I can't believe they didn't bump this up though, with the extra 300lbs it's gonna be so slow for a baja truck. Should of put in their 3.5L Twin-turbo or even better the supercharged 6.2.
I bet the bison has cruise control
Lol , burn.
This still funny to y’all? Corny to me. Y’all complain about truck prices all day long but when manufacturers aren’t loading them up with a bunch of standard features to keep the price down y’all make fun of that as well? Lol. 🤡
😂 Poor Andre
@@G-Rated considering this 40k plus truck and doesn't include cruise is crazy.. This is 2023 not 1973..
@@moosc Boy, if your only argument is “the truck is $40k” then you can just SHUT UP. That doesn’t mean a thing. The average car sold today is even more than that. It can be $40k Colorado without cruise control, not everyone uses or wishes to pay for CC and that’s exactly why the option wasn’t checked by Andre. What part of that can’t you comprehend? Just because it’s new doesn’t mean every feature known to man should be included, not if you care about pricing.
I think it’s hilarious y’all say crap like “it’s a $40k 2023 YM truck, everything should be standard” but in the very next breathe will write a short story about how all new products are “overpriced” and too expensive.
It just needs the LZO diesel engine to be prefect!
I LOVE IT!!!! GREAT VIDEO GREAT PRODUCT!!! GREAT DAILY DRIVER. GREAT VIDEO AND THANKS FOR SHARING.
Really enjoy TFL content, which is good because it is as close to a new Colorado ZR2 as you will ever get. Here we are half way through 2023 and Chevrolet can't figure out how to produce ZR2s that actually arrive at dealerships. Now, TFL is showing us the 2024 Bison. I didn't know you guys did comedy bits too!
My local dealership got one zr2. One!!! SMH they say orders are closed until end of 2023.
I ordered an edition 1 AT4X and the one knock I had is I wished it would’ve been able to handle 35s with no rubbing so Iv been watching and waiting for the bison and aev editions to release and I gotta say, I love these but I don’t think it’s worth dumping the edition 1 for one of these but a huge fan of where the market is heading…minus the price but everything is looking great
I’m now in LOVE with this Bison ZR2! 9:46
I went with the Trail Boss in Nitro Yellow ! All the truck I need. Same engine and great for realistic off roading and towing
2024 midsize truck shootout will be dynamite!!!
Hoping they bring back a S10/compact truck too
Is the wider track width from longer control arms or just wheel spacers?
Sport bar or bed cap. LOL Yah, because that will increase the room with that spare mounted in there. Be honest, if you need that big of a tire, you are not going to be needing a "bed cap" as much as maybe a roll over bar. Being a GM product, might want a tool box with spare parts on board. A satellite tracker so the tow truck can find you. 🤣
You could say that about almost every truck
I drive a 17 year old hummer h3 built on this platform. At 430,000km now and going strong still. I even tow a small trailer here and there.
love those bumpstops
Great job on the vid
Curious on highway MPG as you guys were seeing 22 mpg with the Trail Boss.
Is the rear-view mirror, digital? If not, would need to relocate spare to something like a pre-runner mount.
It is digital
The location of the spare is almost a deal breaker for me. I can imagine times when that would be really annoying. That said I like it MIIIIIIIIILES more than the Tacoma and as much as the raptor
Same especially with a bed already that short; I'd be getting a swing out carrier for that bumper or swapping it out for one that would work with one.
Glad to see Nathan is still around, even if it's for an ad read.
I absolutely love the truck. Hopefully they will be able to keep it around 60k which would be about 10k more than a ZR2. I was hoping they put the 4.10 gears in it. I think they’re getting away with it because the new Goodyear territorial Mt tires are only six ply tires. They’re only 52 pounds which is very light for a 35 inch tire.
I doubt it. The Silverado version base price is $87,000 - $93,000. I’d imagine this will be at least 70k.
Kase your a beast bro so incredible keep it going
Higher lift and bigger tires will sap some speed on any truck..overall, its a nicely setup truck.
Anyone know when these will be delivered to the dealers? All of the 2022 ZR2’s are sold out in my area and they only have the 2023 WT or a smidgen of Z71’s.
Love it. Can’t wait to offend the half ton Bison’s when I pull up with factory 35’s in a midsize truck 😂
Finally!!! A mid size truck with 35s along with steel bumpers both back AND FRONT from the factory! Chevy takes the checkered flag with this long overdue setup. We still haven't heard from Jeep yet on the Gladiator. Will it get the 4xE with the "X" package for 2024?
Great options. Are they actually going to build them? You can't even buy the regular ZR2 today. Is there a timeline on availability?
I pick up my zr2 tomorrow. Order 6 months ago.
What's the gear ratio is it still running the 4:32 in the rear or did they up graded to 4:10 ?
Good job pointing out the cast iron lower front control arms. Seems like the larger Silverado ZR2 should have them, but don't. Also, you shouldn't have to buy the expensive off road versions of these trucks, if you want an interior that isn't ALL black.
It’s got great styling for sure, and capability is subjective depending on what you’re actually using it for. The biggest question is reliability.
Brother! The whistles on the S's are blowing my eardrums out
Love this truck … how much & when will they hit dealerships are my only questions.
52k fully loaded at dealership
Is the rear sliding window still manual? I hate that. May as well not have a sliding rear window if you can't open it unless you park the car and climb into the back seat.
Pretty sweet, wish they still had the baby Duramax option. Bummed they couldn't get the spare under the bed like a Gladiator, which can fit a 35 spare stock and a 37 spare with just a minor mod. You're already talking a small bed, although for bombing down rough terrain having the spare over/in front of the axle is optimal.
All the mid-size options are getting competitive, too bad none of them are "including" some range with decent economy and a bit bigger tank.
Not sure it won't still fit underneath. The bed mounted spare was an option on the previous Bison, but it wasn't necessary.
Having a flat while offroad in the rocks or buried up in mud can become a nightmare if you have to get the spare from under the truck, not to mention if you are actually offroading, the spare can get damaged under there.
Toyota found its compilation! Really looking forward to the new Tacoma and the Colorado!
ZR2, ZR2 Bison, or the Trail Boss (any option) can you do the Odyessy Pop up tent with Light Sports Bar with Thule Grip handle for Overlanding? Work in progress of career change to save for a "mortgage" on wheels.
it's already the best choice of the 3 you've mentioned. change the gearing and there will be no comparison.
I ordered a standard ZR2 and I'm hoping I can just bolt on the AEV bumpers. Does anyone know if thats possible? Its really the only difference that interests me
Yes, AEV will sell the bumpers as an aftermarket upgrade
Great looking truck. Looks like a very capable off-roader for what people will realistically do. Hard for me to say as a Toyota fan, Chevy did a great job.
Will it take place that at some point they use a diesel engine in the Colorado ZR2, such as the Duramax 3.0 😮
Chances are the 35" spare will fit under the truck, AEV is just showcasing the bed mount.
Does the Top Dog Colorado come with cruise control?
Nicely done Chevy!
On a truck like this payload is much more relevant to the user then towing capacity and haven’t been able to get that number on all 3 of the new trucks, also curb weight of all three trucks, my guess is the bison is about the same weight as both of the other trucks but with the 35s
Looks cool asf, for some reason the back look like a ranger and front like a Tacoma in a way 😝
Nice design !!!
Here is baby bison raptor! Awesome
GM consistently misses the mark by not offering engine upgrades for higher packages. The ZR2 and Bison should have a higher horsepower engine or variant.
34.4" I would call that a 34" tire not a 35" tire.
The entire industry does this. And even when you buy tires specifically marketed as "35 inch" you'll see variance below that all the time.
@@PeakDecline yep they round up, just like when I say I'm 5'8" even though with no socks, shoes, or hair I'm actually 5'7.5" tall
Yes, like 8” really means 6”
@@user-bl4ez3sh5g ZACKLY!🤣👌
Go to a manufacturer and see what the actual size of a 35" tire is listed as. Come back and take your stupid stamp. You obviously haven't been around off road tires much.
Nice! But they can keep the turbo 4 banger
This is the new king of off-roading (in my opinion) from comparing the competition. 9:46
Will the DSSV’s go out too quickly on this one also?
nice .....now Nissan needs a extreme off road ute
I’d love to know if GM has produced one regular ZR2 or AT4X for a customer yet. My ZR2 order has had 3 different Target Production Weeks. It’s now projected for 6/12. If August rolls around I’d be an idiot to buy a truck that immediately would be a model year old. And of course, no one knows anything.
I run a Chevy dealership and my short early order is also held up. As far as I'm seeing none have had a Vin number assigned to them yet as of June 1.
Mine has a VIN number and was built May 10 according to my dealer. But is still sitting in Missouri waiting to get on a train. I’m getting a bit frustrated.
Turns out my dealer was wrong. It still has not been built. And I needed a vehicle so I bought a Trail Boss. I would have much rather had the ZR2, but who knows when I would get it.
You mentioned the interior wasnt bad, but in other videos ive seen, the door cards seem really flimsy and cheap. What do you think?
How come i cant find any aev parts for my 2023 colorado..
No!!! TFL, say it ain’t so! Morgan & Morgan got to you too?! Is there nothing sacred from the ambulance chasing king?!
Idk...I still prefer the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter over this Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison.
Will be a lot of fun getting that spare tire in and out of the bed should you ever need it…
Aww, man I already put in my ZR2 order.
Having owned the previous generation the only difference is AEV re-geared the truck with 4.10s wonder why they didnt this time around.
I really love that GM is cranking out PR efforts on next year model trucks when they cant even fulfill current existing orders for the 2023 ZR2.
Ive never really been a GM fan. I feel like this Bison and maybe the ZR2 just dominated the midsize scene. Dodge dominates a off road segment with the Power Wagon, Ford has a chunk with the Raptor, Toyota owned the midsize category. Not anymore. I thing GM just took it.
I like it
I wish it had a diesel option, because I really like this truck! .... I'm not confident about the reliability of a turbo 4 engine, in a heavy truck
This turbo 4 was designed and built with the same philosophies as a Turbodiesel 4 cylinder.
@@shitloveaduck That doesn't make sense. Philosophy doesn't make reliable mechanical platforms. 4 cylinders in truck/SUVs (mid-size and up), just can't be efficient. The engines are overworked.
So far only Toyota has attempted a solution, by adding hybrid power in higher end 2024 Tacoma models. That will relieve strain from the gas engine
@@lunamaria1048 - you believe what you want. How does the same philosophy work for turbo diesels? You need to do some more research on the history of how manufacturers USED TO just add turbos to existing engines. That’s a big factor in the continuing stigma of turbocharged gasoline engines. The 2.7 EcoBoost is a prime example. There are examples out there with well over 500,000 kms on them right now, but people like yourself said they could never be reliable. Change is good,,, embrace it. Toyota only did the hybrid for 2 models that will get minor sales. The rest are depending on a ordinary 4 cylinder turbocharged engine.
Have a great day.
@@shitloveaduck Beliefs are for religion. I sprayed facts. We have used larger engines in trucks, because they are more reliable and efficient to move the weight, for nearly a century. Petrol engine turbos are meant to make cars faster. Using an under powered 4 cylinder engine in heavy vehicles can not be made efficient. Adding turbos to make them work harder to move the added weight of a truck is even worse, period.
4 cylinders are designed for light FWD cars. Not heavy body-on-frame trucks with RWD biased and 4WD.
Do some research on engines... Petrol engines and diesel are distinct.
@@lunamaria1048 - I own 34 vehicles. I have owned over 200 trucks. The most efficacy useful after 45 years were the F150 SuperCab 4x4 with the 2.7 . These were ranch trucks and worked HARD. They were 10% approx more efficient than the same trucks with the 5.0. Since they were run almost exclusively off-road the torque curve of the 2.7 made it a much more useful powertrain. The efficiency came from the early torque in the curve meaning they weren’t revved like the peaky 5.0.
I have 45 years of hard evidence. Trucks with 300,000 miles on them. Body’s so beat to shit that they were only ever used on the ranch, all 8800 acres, 25,000 feedlot cattle and around 1500 head of range cows. There was little idle time.
Quote all you want. I do know engines. I tear them down and rebuild them. Some stock, some for pure unadulterated horsepower. I drive them as often as I can, invite family & friends over for a cruise weekend!! Pulls set of keys out of the bag and that’s your ride for the weekend. I have a 56 F100 with a 2.3 EcoBoost tuned to about 500 lb ft of torque. That truck hauls, but on the cruises is consistently the most fuel efficient truck. There’s a couple of Mustang GT500s (current) and corvette’s that get much better mpg on the highway. Aerodynamics being the factor.
Now go on and spout what you think to someone who doesn’t know vehicles and the history of them, from the 20s, 1920s and on. My vehicle range from 1938 to 2004 for the ones I call classics. Then there’s the 4 much newer cars. The classics are mostly trucks.
Have a good day. Anything else you say is not interesting anymore. You have quotes.
Can someone explain the exhaust pipe on this ?
I don't get it.......i'm sure rocks will.
Imma need hondata to tune those turbos to catch that raptor!! Lol 🏎💨
I wish they would just start delivering the ZR2 s ordered in Feb
Should have just allowed the 6.6 v8 gas motor as an option to be more closely aligned to its competitors in terms of horsepower. Probably wouldn't fit though.
I know im alone on how skinny that rear frame section looks. My Gladiator is easily an inch thicker vertically. Could explain why the Baja truck isnt on view lol.
Ohhh baby. LS swap with 37s and 4inch BDS lift next year for SEMA!!!!😊😊😊
Why not get a rear receiver tire holder?
Gm is doing great things with the midsize segment. Now it’s time for Chevy to make a full-size truck that actually competes with the Ford F150 Raptor and Ram 1500 TRX…
I like the name!
Spare tire could be put on a roof rack….giving full bed use again.
Then it won’t go in the garage. AEV needs to make a swing out tailgate mount for an option
@@mikemissouri5152 yes if only that aev bumper had a swing out tire mount built into it! Maybe thats a future money maker option for them.
when will you gues take the colorado zr2 and the bison off road and reallly test their capability?
my Zr2 should be here in 2 weeks....I wish they would have parked it on level ground and not tweaked out.
I wish they would have had a diesel option like last year.
This looks much more off road capable than the new Tacoma. Excited to see all the new mid sizes hit a difficult trail.
Looks can be deceiving.
@@romairoblackstock5100 So far what I've been seeing for the ZR2 its not deceiving at all, just gotta wait on the bison
34.4 is not 35. If rounding is to be done; it should be rounded down to 34
Did they reinforce the frame? At one of the big off-road race (Baja or KOH), the frame collapsed. Even if they did, Ranger Raptor seems more advanced with better rear suspension.
The driver hit a jump to hard. I'm surprised they didn't go with rear multi-link too, but according the specs the ZR2 trumps both the RR and TRD Pro in clearance.
I bet my ZR2 will become a 2024. Build date keeps getting pushed back since May
Yea mine was May 5 and now July 15… I’m hearing some others have moved to August alread
I was going say they keep showing a new trip while everyone is waiting for the ZR2, the time it at the dealer lot the Tacoma would be out lol
@@dnlsnyder yup. I decided screw it. I don’t off road really much at all and ended up finding a loaded Denali instead.
Why is the tail pipe hanging so low?
That’s what she said
I’d love to see this with a manual transmission! Only Toyota Tacoma and Jeep gladiator left with that option
So is the desert boss gone now that this is available?
Chevy has surpassed Ford IMO. I wish their quality maintained pace with their design.
Say bye to the exhaust on your first trail run with descent boulders.
😆 i waited a year from 2020 to 2021 to get the stamped "Chevrolet " on the tailgate 😅
