Started listening to Dwight late in life. I used to be a pure rock guy with a little country but the older I get the more country I become. Listening to Dwight is like coming back home.
Keep it up. Soon you'll be listening to Buck Owens, and then Webb Pierce, Ray Price, Faron Young, Ernest Tubb, and Stonewall Jackson. I listened to rock and roll all my life (big Stones fan) but nothing beats classic country from about '55 to '68.
I think Dwight is in his own genre. He's rockabilly, hard-driving rock, some mariachi, and country. His movie career and producing skills make his records and videos their own special enhancement to his art. He's created a character. I read a compilation of his lyrics 30 years ago. Only two positive songs, and they were gospel standards. Every other song was sad, or an alcohol-soaked loser. He couldn't be in Nashville and write for other artists like that, but he can for the artist that is Dwight Yoakum. He's up there with Steve Earle and Bruce Springsteen as the musical poets of our age.
We saw the Mavericks at the Ryman back before Christmas! It was excellent!!! Fixing to see Dwight up at harrahs next month !!!! Big wheels rollin’! Having a DAMN BIG TIME!!
Dwight really knows how to work that sound!! He's a unique country singer and player. It would be nice to see the new generation of country singers and player's take it back to what country music should be. However, that's my opinion and does my opinions matter, probably not but I don't give a shit!!
Always been a fan of Dwight ever since I somehow saw him being interviewed by Oprah a long time ago. Since I don't watch Oprah, I guess it was on the YouthTube or something. Anyway, it turned out that he is not the average redneck country singer, but something of an intellectual who could probably hold his own in any conversation whether it had something to do with music or not. I had never heard the song in this video, it was great, and the Gretsch 6022 added exactly the right support. I have one and will be practicing the licks. Thanks for posting this.
You should see DY on Whoopi Goldbergs late show! It was awesome! But it was long before Whoopi was on the View and went "woke"! It's worth checking out! Love Dwight! I think it was around 1992. Just Dwight and his guitar and a piano player!
I thought I owned a copy of everything Dwight recorded, but I don’t know this tune. It’s great !!! And yes that’s Eddie Perez on guitar. If I was Dwight I wouldn’t have Eddie in the band ever again. Eddie stole the show every time. He does not do that with Raul but is still a major component of the Mavericks to this day. Three bright stars. Hope we have many more years of Eddie, Dwight, and Raul. I’m next replaying this vid.
It's off of the album "Blame the Vain." GREAT album!! I saw this tour, too. He had Keith Gattis on guitar. And, I just found out Keith died in April. So sad.

@@mycroft57 Thanks, I bought every album up untill Dwight Sings Buck (2007), the gap to 3 Pears (2012) was too long and by then You Tube arrived.
