Dwight is an amazing performer. His concerts are fantastic. Sling blade is one of my favorite movies and there’s not a wasted line in the whole film. All my friends and I know every word. Only a few movies can I say that.
Exactly right, and I'll add one more thing--he made country hip without watering it down or making it into pop music, and by sticking to the traditions and values of historical country music. He did it while earning the plaudits of the great figures in country music, without dumbing it down into pop country or 'bro' country.

I found out in some interview that Dwight is a voracious reader. You can be really talented but not particularly intelligent but Dwight is both - super talented and highly intelligent. And also quite humble, just an all around goid guy.

Conan is also a pretty good guitarist himself but he just acts to silly on his show at times but he does bring on some great musical acts but needs to let them talk a little more and not interrupt them so much. Late Night With Conan O'Brien is a good show for offering singer/songwriters and bands a good platform to showcase there music as with the great Dwight Yoakam..

Wow, When i saw the short movie "Some Folks Call it a Sling Blade" i wanted to be in it too . Auditioned in Little Rock and got a part as crayon man in mental hospital, long haired guy at end of the table, in opening scene. The short is great, Molly Ringwald is in it. I love Dwight, he is the ONLY country singer i have actually liked since the 60s. but you see, a big part of being a pop star is sex appeal. and a big part of Dwights image is those tight pants and that Cowboy hat, it all makes those country girls scream for him. the problem for Dwight is he is badly balding so when he is acting and playing a sleaze character like in Swing Blade he will show that. but when he is trying to promote his music that Cowboy hat is a big part of his image and it hides his balding so he needs to keep it on. i am honestly kind of surprised Conan does not understand that and harasses him so much here about wearing the hat.

Conan should never have guests on his show. He ignores them and makes every minute about him and his loud voice and bad attempts at making jokes. I have no clue how he has kept a job or an audience.
