Luke, I encourage you to do some more research into Billy Porter's fashion choices. While he does blur the lines of heteronormative fashion and play with gender expression he also dresses like this to comment on the way masculine attire is favored and idealized in society. Porter points to the stigma around men wearing feminine clothing and argues that it comes from a place of misogyny. Women are not currently criticized for wearing traditionally masculine clothing because it is idealized and expected whereas it is deemed as straying from the ideal for a man to wear traditionally feminine clothing. Society generally gets uncomfortable and offended when men reject their masculinity which is viewed as the ideal state. Billy dresses like he does to stand in solidarity with women and express the idea that femininity is no less ideal masculinity.
Maybe he just likes to dress that way, but thanks for the women studies thesis

I like these reviews too because when I first started watching them I'd see something like Nicole Kidman's dress and be like wow!!! looks so good!! and then Luke would be like DISGUSTING seen it a million times!! And I wouldn't really agree. But now that I've watched so many of them I realize what he means. He's not saying that Nicole Kidman looks bad. She looks great! I LOVE Ana de Armas whole outfit, I love the silhouette, It’s classy and elegant but at the same time modern. The hair and the make up were perfect for her complexion and on the top of that the Tiffany jewelry, man, she looks so good.
Gwyneth’s dress would be cool in like navy or black but this brown just makes me think of vomit or decor from the 70s
I was thinking that too. A different color would have been stunning. The brown for that textile is so off putting.
I love the 70's color palette and I wish she would have leaned into it a bit more. Farrah hair, grass-green platforms, amber/tiger's eye jewels. Some of haute couture's best moments come from the 70s. Go big or go home, but don't half-ass it.
Iris Van Herpen is the only interesting designer out there, sooooooooooo, yeah 'weird' ... sure. I guess people would think she's weird in a sea of vanilla.

The fashion of these award shows has really gone down within the past couple of years. I understand taking risks but a lot of this is just ill designed.
I think so too, but for the opposite reasons. I feel like designers take too little risks nowadays. Back in the day, hell even only 20 years ago, you could easily pick out designers from the crowds. They used to have such unique styles. Now everything seems to be blending together, and Armani / Dior / Chanel / everything else just...looks the same. And it's starting to become boring.
