Rihanna’s Guo Pei moment is THE look of the decade. Like nothing else even comes close, and with the direction things are going, I’m sure nothing will top it for awhile lmao.
For me Gaga is the ONE. I don even like gaga but even I have to admit most of the red carpet looks that blew most people out of the water were Gaga's though yes guo pei riri moment was great but to me, it was just a train nothing more.

I think the meaning behind FKA twigs’s dress is about the fear and censorship of maybe nude art or even people. And by putting nakedness of this dress front and center, it could show how the body is not sexualized, it is simply beautiful as a form.

You forgot to mention that the Lady gaga look from 2016 was a complete bowie tribute (the hair, the dress, the camp) since he had died shortly before. That is what makes the look iconic to me.
I didn't know but I totally see that. Luke NEVER picks up on colouring, which is so important in fashion, shame. Because that colour scheme was so perfectly chosen and he didn't mention it at all.

same, in my opinion there are some things that just look pretty, not everything has to be revolutinary or exciting, and the lack of those atributes doesn't nesecarily have to make a dress boring, rather pretty in a more simplistic and timeless, albiet "basic way"

Luke, I usually agree with you and see your pov, but the 2015 Beyonce dress was a piece of art. Between the jewels, netting, bodysuit, the cut, the flow and the fit Beyonce looked gorgeous. The dress framed her body spectacularly, any woman would want to look that good. She was a jewel that night. A great dress is also about how much it elevates and showcases the woman wearing it. That dress did it's job perfectly.

One of my favorite books is on Marie Antoinette and how her choices in fashion can be seen through a political lens (Queen of Fashion: What Marie Antoinette Wore to the Revolution by Caroline Weber) . Fashion has always been political and always will be. I'm so glad you mentioned that! I love fashion particularly historical fashion and I think it has do much to say about the times when a garment was made . Fashion speaks volumes it's not just a pretty gown .
