A great cliffhanger , but I prefer the ending of Part 3 of Horror of Fang Rock:
" Leela, I've made a terrible mistake. I thought I'd locked the enemy out. Instead, I've locked it in...with us."
Oh yes indeed, that is a corker, Gary! As is that story in general. :)
While the Philip Hinchcliffe years have some of the best cliffhangers, I think my all-time favourites would have to be from The Keeper of Traken. End of Part 2: 'Oh no, Cassia. It is only beginning!' is delivered so ominously by Melkur/Geoffrey Beevers, followed of course by the 'new body at last' story cliffhanger. What is seemingly an ordinary Doctor Who adventure, turns out to be just the start of some major events that ripple into a new series with a new Doctor. Magic!
Hey there Mark! Ah yes, great reminders there. I really like The Keeper Of Traken. :)
Yeah that’s definitely Bernard Archard’s voice, who also played Professor Marcus Scarman. In Empire Of Death, The Doctor referred to him as a looter which I thought was a bit cheap considering he was a Professor of Archaeology. Great cliffhangers though!
This really is blowing my mind! 😲😲😆😆😆😆 All this time, I assumed it was Woolf. So do we think it was literally Bernard under that evil black helmet?
@@jarnopp Yes, I've always heard that as Archard's voice - it's got the same echo as Sutekh but it's not *quite* the same resonance. I also assumed it would have been him under the robes as well. Great cliffhanger!
I think that's Bernard Archard's voice rather than GW
I'm rather blown away by this, David! He does sound very Woolfy, right? :D
@@jarnopp a bit but listening to it again I'M sure it's BA
Pyramids of Mars is one of my all time favourite Doctor Who stories. Loved the design of the mummy robots. I have a couple of them as figures. I also have a figure of the 4th 😊Doctor with the panel he takes from his tardis to stop Sutekh to trap him in the time vortex. Pyramids of Mars was the first BBC Video that I bought in the early 80s. I then bought it on dvd and hopefully we will get season 13 shortly which have Pyramids of Mars as one of the great stories.
Marvellous stuff, John! I wouldn't mind some mummy robot figures myself! Nice work. :)

The servant of Sutekh is Marcus Scarman played by Bernard Archard. I think that is his voice as well rather than Gabriel Woolf’s
Wow, really, Bernard's voice? It sounds so Woolfy! 😮 I am shocked!
@@jarnopp yeah, it’s certainly rich and scary 😬
Namin got a little hot under the collar..
Namin got a little hat, too 😆
@@jarnoppFezzes are cool.
@@catmachine0 Fezzes can evidently get very hot 🔥😆
I don’t know about anyone else, but I would love to see you commentate on more classic Who clips.
Great to hear, Mark! I really enjoyed making this video. 😊👊
Nice breakdown of a classic cliffhanger. It's quite unusual to not have the doctor or his companion as the main focus. I think there are scarier ones but this is very well "executed". Definitely better than Death to the Daleks Part 3 😂
Thanks David! And damn, yes, I had intended to make that point- that this is a killer cliff, despite the Doctor and his friends not being in immediate danger 😆
All these years later, I never once noticed the organ playing itself.
I still prefer the original SFX for the sarcophagus: I like the coloured streaks of light, as they stretch out when the sarcophagus is in use.
The new SFX does fix the original dodgy angles on the individuals inside the sarcophagus, though.
Hey there! I don't think I'd consciously noticed the self-playing organ (cough) until I made this video either. 😆
And yes, I still really like the original FX too. Each version has its benefits, I'd say. 😊👊

Great video Jason awesome cliffhanger because of the mystery of who is the figure 😀👍
Thanks muchly, Paul! :)
