  • The intercooler blocked the hole where the old safety catch went into. Had to come up with a new safety catch so I used one off of a newer car and made it work. #c10, #squarebody, #stoutcustom

Just last Saturday the hood of my 79 square square opened and on the freeway I felt the real terror 😅

Not a fun experience. I had it happen in a friends truck when we were on the way to school years ago. Pretty scary, lol

Hey, how are ya my friend? It’s been awhile for sure. I got interested again in my build and started going at again. I think my phone knows the sound of sanding primer and filler. You popped into my UA-cam suggested videos again. You’ve grown subscribers. Way to go! I’m going back to where I left off and binge watch the channel. After giving it up for awhile and coming back, it’s not as difficult for some reason. I’ve learned getting the panel flat as possibly before even opening the filler, is a game changer. Who’d a thunk? Anyway, just wanted to bump it down and give you a friendly four fingers and a thumb wave. Peace!

It certainly helps to take a break from it once in a while. If not it becomes a job. Good to hear from you and keep at it!

That re-engineering at it's best. Question; What holds the cables housing in the filler panel? It looks like it was drilled and tapped at an angle unless you got something underneath.
Either way, it works. Great job!

Thanks Dean. I had an aftermarket throttle cable assembly. It had a threaded end that was about an inch long with a nut on top. I found another nut that would thread on, ground it at a 45ish angle for the bottom then drilled out some type of threaded ferrule I found for the top, ground it at a 45ish angle as well. Drilled a hole in the core support and sandwiched it in between the two 45 pieces. Worked well.

@@StoutCustom Job well done Jim! It look proper and works. That's what you need. I understand that second safety catch, but never heard of anyone who benefited from having one.
I need to make a similar setup for my 67.
Congrats on the move as I my case, it was making the wife happy and I lost my huge garage, 3/4 underground, concrete block, reinforced with steel as my lot ran downhill into the street below. I could walk to work & noticed across the street, they were taking dirt to fill the empty lot. I provided an extra dump truck & beer. 11' deep, 28' wide, 34' long. And stayed cool in the summer. Still no cracks in the driveway with loads of "Hot Concrete" refused by state highway inspectors. I miss it.
      Take care.
