The Ronettes were Veronica Bennett (aka Ronnie Spector), her sister Estelle and cousin Nedra Talley.
"Be my baby" is one of the best songs ever recorded. It was released in Aug 1963 (Philles Records 116) and reached #2 on the Billboard pop U.S. charts.

Wouldn’t you like to go back to 1965! I’m 71 and remember those days so well. Music was so much better then. No internet, no social media, no mobile phones, people spoke to one another on the phone- not a scabby message machine or chat box. You actually saw Policeman on the streets and there was respect for them and school teachers. The NHS never had queues. You could always see a doctor or dentist. There was always work around. Weather was always predictable and lovely. I could go on, but people will say I’m just going on! People of my generation will know what I mean though. What’s gone wrong?

The feeling of that era was unique and very special. There was an air of excitement and optimism all around. I am 77 years young and I remember the day this record was released into the record shops. Close your eyes and play it again loudly and go back in time! ❤
That's what I try to tell people, Gordan. There was optimism, there was hope, and the world seemed to be going in the right direction. Maybe we just thought that way and it wasn't different at all, I don't know. World certainly seems to be going downhill at the moment and has been since Reagan.

Grew up with this music, 77 now and still love it.
I also loved this song in '64 and still do today. I'm 77 too but every time I listen to it I'm 18 again. To you young people, treasure your youth, life goes by too quickly.
The challenge back in them days was to perform live, and sound just like your record. They did that.
They were so good. And looked so pretty & classy.

When I watched this on TV in 1965 I was only 13 years old and living in Santa Monica, CA. Half way through the song I had my first crush, I fell in love with Ronnie right then watching and listening to her sing. I still feel the same way today and I will be 72 in September. The 1967 I had my first girl friend and her name was Veronica and nickname Ronnie. I probably listened to this song at least 100 times when I was in Vietnam. Music was way better back then, the songs meant something or were about something back then. I still listen to 60s music on my Pioneer stereo I bought in 1972 in Yokosuka Japan. I wish I had been able to see Ronnie Spector live but never had the chance. Broke my heart when she passed away in January of 2022. Those sure were the good ol' days.

In 1965 I fell in love with the Ronettes, but mostly Ronnie. I went by the record store and there a.45 cover was pasted on the window...I went home and told all my friends "You have to see this cute Italian girl from a new group called the Ronettes !!!.... I'm 75 and I still get teased by my friends.

This predates the era that would have allowed me to enjoy this type of music as it was being released by a little over 10 years. I wish I had been there then, but watching it on UA-cam is the next best thing. It's very rare for me to have a taste for anything new that is being released in these modern times.

truth be told -- there were no sister or cousin when the recording was made ... it was Veronica herself on lead and backup voices ... later the backup singers were added because of performances were done mostly live back in those days ....
