Hey please like this so Adam can see, Adam bro most important mod I recommend is an oil pump, i cracked mine and tore the gears up, they’re not good and it’s very common especially when you start trying to get more power. I have an atomic performance one on my Barra and it works amazing I recommend getting in contact with him. He’s been around this motors since anyone new anything about them, he’ll be able to tell you exactly what you need. Whatever you do don’t just buy new gears that’s not the issue it’s the way the housing is ported

Or just swap the whole chassis harness. Obviously it would cost alot but then theres definetely not going to be any weird codes due to slight changes in resistance where the harness has been spliced and stuff. I work on new fords and that's a common issue when cars come to us from body shops.

Good start. If you plan on building the engine there’s zero point starting with a turbo engine . All of our built engines started life as standard fg na engines and have run consistently 160+ mph in a 3300 lb car .

Better just to save everybodys time and just do as what is already planned. The car is already getting saved I think. New parts is on it's way for everything. Ive owned 3 seperate Barra motors, worked on them all myself and with my brother. The one thing we learnt, and will never forget, is to go and get an aftermarket oil pump. The standard pump you guys show in this video, you pointed out its exact flaw. Its way too loose and all 3 have blown out on us after maybe 1000km of hard driving, they are fine if the motor is stock but as soon as you chuck a turbo in there it wears out super quick and creates more problems down the line. Please make sure you get a pump we dont need another GT350 fire video
24:41 super interesting question, i know im late but the water pumps are usually the first thing to go due the the fact that they spin at absurd speeds and in Australia we have a principal of "if your doing the timing may as well do the pump" same example for clutches and rear mains, always change them!

Got a Barra outside in the garage... it's in a garden variety FG falcon but it's still a good smooth engine. I'll watch and see how you fellas get on with yours. I reckon you should check out a fellow UA-camr here in Oz . Benny's Custom Works , he has a Toyota Cresta with a Barra swap that runs 8.30's in the quarter and has been reliable enough to complete Drag Week with it in the U.S. From memory he was 3rd in class overall. He'd be your man to fire Barra questions at. Good luck lads . Maybe a fire suppression system might help out. Best news out of all of this is your lady friend didn't get hurt in the fire. Cheers!
Silver top Barra motors are not meant for boost, you need the green top (lpg) or a red/blue top from a xr6 turbo/f6 they are the ones that come with stronger piston rods that won’t bend easily, little info so you know

Benny's Custom Works , he has a Toyota Cresta with a Barra swap that runs 8.30's in the quarter and has been reliable enough to complete Drag Week with it in the U.S. From memory he was 3rd in class overall. He'd be your man to fire Barra questions at. Good luck lads . Maybe a fire suppression system might help out.

Silver top Barra motors are not meant for boost, you need the green top (lpg) or a red/blue top from a xr6 turbo/f6 they are the ones that come with stronger piston rods that won’t bend easily, little info so you know
