Can you please tell me what the black thin cable at 2:42 is for? I accidentally broke the port on the motherboard when I was trying to disconnect it, so the cable came off along with the port...

Bro, this is seriously one of the best teardown videos I've ever seen! Could only be made by someone who is frustrated with other teardown videos which lack detail, lack camera focus on on small components, and have way too much talking.
Currently trying to find a replacement earpiece for my Xperia 1 II, and having a very difficult time. Any good advice?
Try finding a broken phone for sale. Since they don’t sell a crazy amount of phones, parts are hard to come by.

At 4m:53s there is a foam adhesive that sticks the daughter board to the frame - any idea what part number it is and what it is called please as I guess it is meant to help with water/dust resistance. Many thanks in advance.

Hi, my frame is broken once i get to the step of removing everything, what else do i need to do? its causing my volume buttons to break and my SIM isnt reading because of how bent the frame is.

I was wondering this too and they didn't use the gleu strips for the battery.

Very nice made. Actually, I wanted to change the frame on a 1II because it has some nasty scratches. But after I've seen the video, I'd rather leave it. The repair of smartphones is becoming increasingly difficult. Too bad that such an expensive device is so service unfriendly.
Actually it isn't that hard. Just get a ifixit kit and a heater. Don't forget to get a new adhesive too.
With a steady hand and little care anyone can do it. Don't be discouraged, you learn a ton.

If you look closely at the right speaker, you'll see that it's actually bottom firing and not front firing.
But there are no speaker holes at the bottom, so it gets redirected to the front inside the main frame?

So I have this phone. Happy with it except for one thing. When I tab my finger on the back of the phone, bottom side, I can hear some sort of rattle. A cheap hollow plastic kind of rattle. Do more people experience this? And I'm not talking about the camera rattle, which is normal. Just to be clear.
I've got the same, presumably the vibrator when it is not being powered. It is kinda unsettling to hear it every time you place it on a table or tap it lightly. Not sure if it is intentional or not. Hope Sony fixes small things like these with future phones. Also try doing the vibration test in the settings app under support -> xperia tests. I can hear a slight clicking noise not sure if this is also normal.
@@clunkyjonas you've got the purple one? I do. Honestly I think it's unacceptable. It feels super cheap. It bothers me every time I lay it on the table.
