Still salty over Oblivion being one of the coolest looking Keyblades and then having doodoo stats compared to Divine Rose, which you can get right after
A story of my KH experience: I was at the near end of the first game, when I got to the cutscene where sora gets the Gummi piece to access the final world and Kairi wishes you luck and gives you her lucky charm and after the cutscene ends you get the oathkeeper and then it hit me, I should have the oathkeeper equipped for the rest of the game not just for its stats but also because of what it represents, the oathkeepers Keychain is in the shape of the same charm Kairi gave to sora before he left to stop anseme, I wanted to beat the game with the oathkeeper because I thought of it as a blessing from Kairi and I even think the Keychain as a sweetheart grip
I actually did go with a magic build in an action RPG and it was really fun. By the time I got to fairy harp, I had goofy with MP haste and MP gift which basically made it impossible for me to run out unless I was alone. I could spam Arc Arcanum as much as I wanted, and with spellbinder I had like 9 MP bars.
I think later variants of oathkeeper look better but it is my favorite. Not even for the ship. It has a nice color palette, looks sleek but not to sterilized. Got the heart and damn the spiked edge looks amazing. Also the charms cool, would look even better if it had the bbs charm designs.
@Noob7Zilla You sure because, they are some slight little changes between versions. Mainly at the helm with a slight color change. Kh1 is more grey winged. While later versions add a bit more turquoise.
Lionheart is a great sleek design, real "less is more" (especially in comparison to later keyblades that go way overboard on the amount of junk thrown on them)
Well, they have good magic, but they are not that powerful. I use Divine Rose. If I remember right, this is second powerful keyblade after Ultima Weapon
I honestly had to backtrack almost at the end for ladyluck. I thought wonderland didn’t have a keyblade at first and only found out when I saw a picture of it and realised I’d missed something
Me when Oathkeeper caption comes up: Yes but also it is seriously the best-looking keychain, (because that's technically what they are) not named ultima weapon 😎
In KH1 I just swapped to the next Keyblade I unlocked. Never felt like they mattered all too much in a drastic way. A few I like more than the others in design. I like the kingdom Key the most

I do prefer Oathkeeper, but not for the shipping reasons, but because I liked the design at stat boosts. Also, Magic is OP in KH and anybody who says otherwise hasn't actually tried to make a magic build.
Except in 1 where your equipment has to accommodate your lack of defense and you learn a lot of the best moves at the end of the game. But otherwise yess Magic Builds. Source: played some of the games out of order and am currently getting my backside handed to me in the colosseum in 1. But the Divine Rose is my saving grace.
Magnega into Thundaga clears pretty much any non boss screen. In KHII. It's pretty much salvation lite. I wasn't a huge fan of magic in KH1 just because most have a relatively small area of effect and I tended to equip accessories to boost AP or Attack over MP and I think, IIRC, magic power is scaled to your max MP.
Divine Rose is one of my favorites because I have fond memories of playing through beauty and the beasts world in the games I played as a kid. Also I like the flower keyblades a lot because flowers becoming weapons is amazing.
Crabclaw is the magic user's Olympia for that Dark Riku Fight. Personal experience, yes. I wont say it's my favorite, but it has its uses. And I like the card motif of Lady Luck, but that's about it.
My favorite Keyblades in this game are Oathkeeper, Sleeping Lion(dude, it has a Lion head and you can imagine it spits out the fire balls as you use the fire spell, what’s not to love?), Spellbinder(don’t you dare underestimate how important magic is for Keyblade wielders, Aeroga, Curaga, and Stopga are my favorite spells), and Diamond Dust!(I don’t say deep freeze, But I do love it’s significant boost to magic~)
Metal Chocobo - first time playing, never looked behind me for Oblivion, never met Belle on return to Castle Oblivion, and went straight to world's end forgetting about Hades cup
Oathkeeper is still my favorite non-Disney Keyblade from KH1. Not for the ship, I like the design and that it has the kanji for “light” as the key teeth. My gf also got me a cosplay prop of it for our first Christmas years ago.
Glad to see there are other people in the comments who understand just how crazy a magic build is. After the first time reaching Hollow Bastion, I vowed never to go without again.
