The Asia Cup Final in 2008 was a closely contested match between Sri Lanka and India. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first at the National Stadium in Karachi, Pakistan.
Ajantha Mendis put up a remarkable performance in the Asia Cup Final of 2008 between Sri Lanka and India. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a total of 273 in their allotted 50 overs.
When India came out to chase, they were confident of chasing down the target, However, Ajantha Mendis had other plans.Mendis, a relatively unknown spinner at the time, completely bamboozled the Indian batsmen with his unorthodox spin bowling. He picked up wickets at regular intervals and completely turned the match in Sri Lanka's favor.
Mendis finished with figures of 6/13 in his 8 overs, which included the wickets of Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina , Virender Sehwag , Rohit Sharma , Irfan Pathan and RP Singh.
India was eventually bowled out for just 173 runs, with Sri Lanka winning the match by a comfortable margin of 100 runs. Mendis was awarded the Player of the Match for his stunning performance with the ball. His spell remains one of the best bowling performances in the history of the Asia Cup.

I used to imitate him when i was in school n bagged some memorable wickets of my life. It was damn hard that i took months to master the technique of spinning both ways. The satisfaction was beyond words when the ball spin for the first time.

Actually ajanta mendis introduced carrom ball first time in cricket.
All Indian players were playing for off spin but he got out them by his mystery carrom ball.
Indian couldn't understand that what he was bowling off spin or leg spin.
After some time indian understand that he don't ball much off spin. He mostly ball straight and carrom balls.

He also featured in test match against India and was creating troubles.
