Nice content as always. I'm thinking about getting the Polar H10 or the Garmin HRM-Pro. Question. How accurate is the Garmin Run Dynamics to a Stryd Footpod? I already have a Stryd do you think the extra data would be superfluous?
Hi Bernard, glad you enjoyed it. Being honest, we've not tested the Stryd vs the HRM Pro on the accuracy of the running metrics. In all honesty it'd be quite a tough one to adjudicate on things like accuracy of the vertical oscillation etc. But if you've already got Stryd, that's covering all the major form metrics you really need. And many experts we've spoken to over the years have told us the foot is a better place to track many of these metrics that the chest. Hope that helps.
I'm using Polar Verity Sense (VS) and OH1+ for various purposes and I'm quite happy with the results. Still, that's ~9/10 performance as VS has some HR spikes from time to time either while running (during warmup slow run phase) or doing XC skiing / roller skiing. I've had Garmin HRM-PRO (and HRM-RUM as well) and it (both Garmin straps) actually had more HR spikes and glitches than VS for some odd reason (electrodes were wet, with water / gel / saliva ;) strap was nice and snug, batteries fresh etc.) both during runs and XC ski activities. And that's why I switched to VS. Now, I'm thinking about Polar's H10 strap to improve XC ski/roller ski readings from 9/10 with VS to 95/100 :) The questions is - will H10 suffer less from spike glitches than Garmin's straps? (I'm using Garmin Enduro now but that's not relevant I guess)
i had h10, the only chest strap hr monitor i had. i'm so disappointed it made me hesitant to try other hr monitor. there were times during easy runs it showed 180bpm and 80bpm during hard runs. new battery, also tried running topless to avoid interference but same result.
Nice review. Thanks u so much I had a Polar H10 chest trap, but Can it pair with the Garmin Instict Solar ? I'm going to buy a sport watch to pair with instead of using my phone
Hi, great video. I’m looking for a HR monitor chest strap as my Coros pace 2 is unreliable with measuring. I’m quite unsure which to go to as I’ve heard the garmin ones are only best for garmin watches.?
Between the Garmin HRM-Pro and Wahoo TickrX, which would you recommend for running dynamics and using it with a Wahoo Kickr Bike with Zwift? I was leaning towards the TickrX given the price and it seems to do the same as the Garmin device, but my only hold back is that all my sport devices are in the Garmin ecosystem. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Good day. Do you know when the new Polar H11 will come out? 2. And what do you think the new H11 or the new Wahoo will be able to control oxygen saturation? 3. If you have a lot of hair on your chest, will the Polar H10 still be able to measure your heart rate? -.,
Hi there , I am confused kindly suggest me best and accurate heart rate strap, I got Android phone(Vivo nex) .. only want to connect to it for continuous and accurate HR during Gym workout (specially weight training). Max budget 200 usd.
Hey, which which CHEST strap WORKS and lasts for 2 years or more? Had two "Tri" Garmins fail: one at 3 months and the other at a "day" past it's year warranty. I'm and OLD MAN...and NOT an uber ahtlete...it didn't get "used to death". Others I've tried transmit out to about HALF an arms length...so if your receiver is on your bike, and your strap on your chest...nope...not gonna work.
Is cadence lock still an issue with arm-based monitors? Also any preference for wearing locations, upper arm vs lower arm? Intuitively the upper arm seems to have less relative motion. Thanks,
Would any of them connect to iPad Air 4? I do insanity workouts on my iPad would it show my heart rate on the screen or that just connects to a smart phone?
I will do that way, just try to load app of any of this sensors to your iPad. And if it has connectivity window in app, I think it will pair with your iPad, since iPad and iPhones has compatibles OS in terms of functionality. Or I recommend visit official website of any of this sensors to check if it supports iPad connecitvity
I'm looking for one to monitor my pots when at work as well as at uni classes. From your tests in your opinion will they track my spikes in heart rate accurately? From sitting to standing my HR goes up about 30 to 40 bpm, ie. 80 when sitting to 120 standing almost instantaneously.
Hi Melissa, in all honest, we're not sure we'd recommend any of these here for all-day use really. Though if we had to choose one, it'd probably be the Polar OH1+, just based on the trade off of comfort and accuracy for all day wear.
I have POTS to ! I have a Galaxy Active 2 watch. It is accurate for me with POTS monitoring 24/7 for sitting, standing, and slight walking. They are not accurate for us walking or exercising. They don't rad right and give me crazy low numbers, I use a Chest Strap for when I take walks or ride my bike when I can. I have a cheap one called CooSpoo and it works great. Problem is I'm looking for a better one. The one I have works great when it decides to "connect". I'm aggravated because the CooSpoo takes me 15 minutes to get connected and working.
I had a polar arm strap, but found no difference between what my Fenix 6 was saying. I went it back besides it just another thing to have to keep up with
Yeah it’s fair to say the accuracy of the optical arm straps isn’t necessarily a step up on the watch optical. Where it’s worn can help (bicep sometimes better than wrist for some workouts). But it’s mainly about comfort and convenience with the arm straps. And for anyone who might not have a watch etc. For top accuracy we’d always go with a chest strap.
With this we felt that it's more about your device and the apps themselves allowing inbound HR . But we should probably have mentioned which straps support BT LE which is the most commonly compatible broadcast type. We'll add that to our next update.
@@TheRunTesters Thanks. Well, at least I don't know which are compatible and which are not. I have a Garmin strap that is not compatible and another "nobrand" from Decathlon that does connect but I don't know if new straps from Garmin, Polar, big brands are compatible to other platforms than their own.
I love my POLAR H10 except for the fact that the thing STINKS and it's not the smell of body odor but the black rubber/plastic. Soaking in bleach helps until you use it again at which time the smell is back. Too bad this is such an old video, It's hard to find good quality reviews
which ones are machine washable? hand washing doesn't remove the smell and makes them horrible to use. Once they start to stink, it just get's worse and worse
The wahoo tickr x running metrics are rubbish. They very unreliable. You have to run over 8km/h for it to work. If you go below it stops recording those metrics.
Hi guys - I don’t know if anyone responds to questions on old videos, but here goes! I don’t currently have a watch that can connect with a heart rate monitor. What is the cheapest chest strap and watch combo you could recommend? (only really to monitor the heart rate)

Pretty sure the foot pod overrides a strap's dynamics data because that's part of how it calculates power.

Yes it can be on some products. Chest strap is our top recommendation but upper arm can be good too, particularly if you're already wearing a watch.
Where is the list where you rank them? I only see a list with a bunch of different units but no actually chart/list, listing them from 1 to 10 :/
