    Got the Wahoo Tickr (the older model) and it works well enough. Like most HR monitors, there's some lag before you get an accurate read if you do surges but there's no such thing as truly real-time readings. I'd say if you're a beginner/intermediate runner just go for the Tickr, it's a bang for the buck.

      Hi Giovanbattista, they do all tend to take some time to settle, particularly if you head out a hard intensity. And we'd agree on the TICKR for a budget option.

      Yeah, we're big fans. It's marginally less comfy than the Wahoo TICKR Fit and the Scosche for our money but it's a very solid option for everything else it offers.

    I had a pretty basic Bluetooth and ANT+ chest strap which worked great but for chesty women there can be discomfort with the HRM pressing against your upper rib cage, plus irritation with strap and your bra.
    I had to stop wearing it long term as it would leave me with cuts and scratches, and I ended up with the Polar OH1+. The battery life isn’t great - about 4-5 hours - I wear it on my upper arm, it connects straight away, all of my apps and watches pick it up with no problem, and most times I don’t even notice it’s there. I haven’t tried it for swimming nor used it to record an activity, but so far, so good.
    Polar customer services are also good (one of the reasons I picked it over the Scosche Rhythm+). In pre-lockdown I had a problem with it and had to send it back, and they were able to resolve it quite quickly along with provide me with some instructions.

      Hi Noll (Kieran here), big confession, as four men testing the chest straps we were acutely aware that comfort for us isn't the same as comfort for women. So it's really good to get feedback like this. And we do intend to add women to our Run Tester roll call in the future so we can give the best advice across the board.
      Glad you're enjoying the OH1. It's a neat little bit of kit and we were quite surprised how well it tracked the chest strap in our tests.
      All the best with you running.

      The Run Testers even if it’s four guys, I enjoy it because it’s UK review content and there’s not enough of it out there. I do however wish there were more people like me (which encompasses a whole minefield 😀) doing reviews but guess we all have to walk before we can run (pun intended).
      Keep up the good work, I’m enjoying the channel. It saves me looking up multiple sources for what you guys provide in one place. The running plus tech geekiness works for me 😁

    Chest strap is best most accurate I wish they would make a GPS strap because like optical heart rate having GPS on a swinging arm is not accurate. A GPS necklace where it sits on the back of your neck would be great and transmit it to your watch for accurate GPS

I use an apple watch now, but I don't think it's very accurate. I can't constantly check an app while running so I want to know if any of them have a feature that will let me know "hey you've cracked X bpm, time to cool off" with a vibration/sound. Please let me know if you have any recommendation for that! Thank you

    Love the in depth review! I was thinking of purchasing the OH1, however I have tattoos on both arms up to my wrists (its actually why I need to purchase an HR monitor because my Apple Watch won't detect me). Can it be worn on the leg or is it arms only? Thank you

    • @TheRunTesters
      @TheRunTesters  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, Polar recommends you wear it on your arm though it does have the option to tell the Polar Flow app that you're wearing it somewhere 'other'. Though we've only tested it worn on the temple while swimming. The band isn't that big either so you'd probably be looking at calf on the leg rather than thigh and the further you move away from the heart, the lower the accuracy essentially. So might not be optimum.

    What would you recommend who is a casual runner/biker/walker who just wants more accurate stats (hr mostly)? Maybe middle-of-the-road pricing? Or do I even need one? Sporting the Fenix 6 Pro. Unsure of OHR from what I’ve read.
    Also have an AW6, which is supposed to have a better OHR, but tried off using 3 programs to recreate the Fenix.
    Thanks!

    • @TheRunTesters
      @TheRunTesters  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, if you want accurate stats the chest straps are the way to go. But whether you need on depends on how you apply the stats. If you just want a general view on roughly which zones you ran in then the OHR on the Fenix might suffice, though the performance can be variable. If you need better precision then a strap is the way to go. Which of the straps largely depends on how much budget you've got to spend, connectivity you need and how many other bells and whistles like running dynamics you might want thrown in. Hope that helps.

      Hi Dean, (Kieran here), I've been using the HRM-Pro for a couple of months now and it's solid. Very comfortable, good connectivity, Haven't yet done a side-by-side accuracy comparison but looking at how it responds during runs, it feels reliable so far. Really annoying to change the battery though.

    Dear Run Testers, can you help? I am looking for a very accurate wrist-based heart rate tracker. Would you be kind enough to make a recommendation, please? I have watched lots of videos - probably too many now...and because I am not an experienced runner I am finding it very difficult to make an informed choice. Heart rate accuracy is the most important feature at this stage as I am trying to get back to a good fitness level following an accident in June 2020. Thank you in advance...

      Do you mean boxing training generally or something you'd need to wear in the ring while sparring? Chest straps cope best with the sort of fast movement workouts where the arm motion can interfere with arm straps.

      Hi Shawn, to get the actual real time BPM you need to pair it, ideally to a watch but can also work with phone apps. Treadmills too.

    I have just bought a honor band 5, it seems to me that I have to be completely still so that the device can read my heart rate . How can I use it when running🤔.

      There's no easy answer to this one. For the price, this has some shortcomings and that's just a trade off. We'd probably have recommended an alternative product.

    Can anyone tell me with these hr monitors if you can can see your heart rate on the route you took. Like if you can see what your heart rate was on a specific point on the map after a workout. Hope that made sense. Thanks.

      Hi Battrans, in most cases that'll depend on which app/platform you link it to as to whether you get the heart rate heat zone style maps, rather than the HR monitor itself.

    Hi there, I am not a runner but and I'm having heart problems and need to be monitoring my heart rate while exercising. If I'm using a chest strap does that mean I have to have some type of watch monitoring as well in order to tell me my heart rate? I definitely am not going to hold my phone on me. Is there anything smaller or more old school that isn't a smartwatch. Genuinely all I need it to do is give me some type of audio alert when I am over my target heart rate. Because of my heart problems I need to have good accuracy and I'm thinking of the Polar model as you suggested. If you have a minute to respond it would be most appreciated! Thank you!

    • @TheRunTesters
      @TheRunTesters  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, thanks for the question. If you want to see your HR in real time you'll need a watch or a phone, yes. Some HR straps do record and sync later if seeing the rate as you run isn't important.It might be possible to set use a Scosche Rhythm 24, set your heart rate zones accordingly so that when you hit the high you need to be alerted to, the LEDs flash a certain colour e.g. red. Could be a work around. But in all honesty, it sounds like a cheaper watch and a H10 sycned might be your ideal solution. That way you can set audio alerts etc. It wouldn't have to be an expensive watch.

      The Run Testers Thank you so much for this information. I did decide to go with the Polar H10 that you recommended, and I ended up calling Polar and they told me that I can get vibrational alerts, which is great because I am often listening to music or podcasts while I exercise outdoors. The A370 and the 430 both do this with the Polar Flow app. Set your minimum and maximum heart rates and then forget it. When you are out with your heart monitor and the watch on it will give you vibration alerts if you are over or under your heart rate. Just thought I would share what I learned since I'm sure that there are others out there with heart problems. I would love to jog, but right now I have to stick to walking. I admire you runners. I'm sure you have good hearts!

    is there HRV stress measurement on all of them?

    • @TheRunTesters
      @TheRunTesters  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Alexey, this depends more on what you link them to. So the app, watch etc. Polar H10 has a daily orthostatic test that is essentially looking at HRV, for example.

      The Run Testers , after 5 month of use HRM strap stop working.
      I did change the battery, still not work. It seems it’s design issue.
      Also the strap smells bad, not able to wash it fully.
