    All these variations are great, but I LOVE the fish one!! I appreciate the tip on making the wave strips too...that was a game changer for me. It's so simple that you want to pop your head with the heal of your palm because you didn't think of doing that before (like in those V-8 commercials, you know, where they slap themselves upside the forehead saying, "I could have had a V-8" - I know, it's an older commercial). That's what I love about these videos - you almost ALWAYS come away learning something new or at least remembering something you had forgotten about!!

    Hi love your layouts❤️how do you hand stich it looks like it was machined stitched. So glad I found you.

    • @allisondavis4sg944
      @allisondavis4sg944  3 роки тому

      Thank you, Susan!
      To hand stitch I start by using a pencil and ruler, if needed, to draw my design on my layout. Then I put my layout on a foam board (a cork board works too) and use a paper piercer to pierce holes about 1/8 to 1/4" apart along the pencil line. I use a needle with three strands of embroidery floss, anchored to the backside of the layout with a piece of tape, and stitched through the holes using a back stitch.
      I have a short video that goes into a lot of detail showing my process of hand-stitching. It's my favorite technique to use!

    So I heard you say you just use photos that are already printed for these layouts but you have such a wide variety of sizes that seem to fit perfectly, like the one larger photos in the fish layout and then the two very small photos in the 3rd layout. Do you print a variety of sizes when you print things up? The biggest problem I have with trying to get the photos to work is I often have to crop my preprinted photos because I want a certain look on my layout and I print standard prints. If I do that I lose some of the photo and sometimes that just doesn't work.

    • @allisondavis4sg944
      @allisondavis4sg944  4 роки тому +1

      For most of the layouts I am working with photos that I have printed already. I'll usually do a bulk order of prints at one time so that I always have photos that I can just grab and get straight to creating with. I print in variety of sizes mostly because I like to mix it up. I have some go-to sizes that I enjoy most - 3 x 5", 3 x 4", 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 (wallet-size for one-pgae layouts) and squares photos. So when I am editing my photo in preparation for a bulk print, I'll look at a set of photos and determine right there what size I think would be best or most fun to play with depending on the type of photo.
      They seem to fit perfectly, because I've adjusted the sketch to make them fit "perfectly." Layout #1 was a set of five photos that I had printed all in 3 x 5" so four of them fit perfectly to the sketch, the fifth didn't and I had to adjust things on the sketch to make it work. Layout #2 was a set of photos that I had printed in 3 x 3" size. They were all photos that I had taken as a square on my phone so I decided that I would print them as 3 x 3" photos since there were so many of them. Layout #3 was a set of six photos that I actually printed in two different sizes just in case. Once as 4 x 6" prints and then I had six 2 x 2" photos printed on a 4 x 6" print. I did two because I thought that it might be cute to create a one-page layout with just the 2 x 2" photos. Layout #4 - is the only one that I custom printed to fit the idea I had to play around with the sketch. I really like the idea of including an enlargement on the layout. I used the smaller size prints because I had so many and wanted to include them all. Layout #5 was another pre-printed set. I only had three photos of that moment so I printed them in a smaller size with a plan to use them on a one-page layout.
      I hope that helps explain a little! :)

    Love your sketch with the stripes and star. i just finished working on one like that for my great granddaughters first day of school. Is there a place where i can post it to you. Also i would love to post on my local scrapbook site. Could I have your permission to post if i put your name and site on there to give you the credit for it. Thanks Pat

      @allisondavis4sg944  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you, Pat! You can definitely post your layout on your local site. I'm currently in the works of putting together a Facebook group for the Sketch Support sketches with layout galleries for each sketch. So everyone who has created a layout with the sketches can share their layouts with everyone. It's not up and running just yet, but it will be very soon! I'll announce it in my next Sketch Support video, episode 8.

    I was wondering why you used those plump strips of pink & salmon in your waves. I think it was a bit much for me.
