Hello! We're Maria and Olivia. We're currently living in Athens, Greece after deciding to follow our dreams and start a new journey together traveling within Europe (and hopefully beyond soon) and filming our adventures. We love what we are doing so far, we're learning so much about the world, ourselves, and each other every day and we hope you enjoy our content and have a smile or laugh along with us! 😊
The traditional Swedish liquorice is black and very salty, I hope you try that as well :)
No, it's not. Liquorice is not salty. Ammonium chloride is (quite literally it's ammonia salt). Don't fall for the idiocy of the Americans who think there is such a thing as 'salty licorice'. Yes, you can mix liquorice or (licorice) with salmiac (ammonium chloride) but they are not the same. At all.
Liquorice is sweet.
@@Xerdoz and yet I buy salty liquorice often here in Sweden. As do people in Finland and Iceland, funny how that goes.
@@Xerdoz Where are you from if i might ask? In sweden we eat salty liqourice, as does the finns, danes, norwegians, icelandics and the dutch , like it or not. It's a fact. "idiotic americans" have literally nothing to do with it, in fact, americans also only eat sweet liqourice. Salty liqourice is, as you say, liqourice with salmiac added, that doesn't make it any less real. That's like saying there's no such thing as coffee, only water. 😂
Yes that they eat was not lacorice it was hallon- or jordgubbstång.
@@Xerdoz As others have said, Saltyliquorice is common in the Nordic countries and is essentially Liquorice mixed with Ammonium chloride which is a kind of salt making the name quite fitting. It's not from America, far from it as the normal Sweet Liquorice is what is common there making Americans often quite shocked when they get to taste some of the really salty ones. You can find lots of videos of Americans tasting Nordic candy and making funny faces when they get to the salty ones.
the best!!!👌.. wherever you are, it always gives different stories, .. Thank you !!🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 ..
Thank you Andreache 😘😘😘😘
@@MariaOliviaTravel you both the best.. !! 😘😘😘 ..
The size of that burger 🥰🥰🥰 I love loads of food nom nom nom, the buildings and architecture look fantastic it really does look beautiful there.
Great video ladies, you sure do get around some amazing countries. Enjoy yourselves xx
Right?! Really good size 😋 and probably one of the best priced places in the center of Stockholm 👌 thank you as always for your kind words. We are glad you enjoyed the video ❤️
You are welcome to visit Venice of the North
Fun to see your visit to my hometown! A couple of notes I hope you enjoy:
This year, while most of Europe had a heatwave we had one of the coldest and raniest summers in many years! The beginning of June was warm and then we had a unusually cold summer! 🌞
The name liquorice that I see others have commented on. What you call liquorice are just our soft fruit candy. Liquorice to us is black liquorice, and that comes from the liquorice root, and many of the black liquorice here also flavoured with anise. Salty black liquorice, or salmiac liquorice, have flavor from ammonium chloride. And it's all the different kinds of black liquorice Sweden, and the other Nordic countries, are famous for. It's a must try of you are here!
I personally always try to stay away from black liquorice with anise in it, as in not a fan of that flavor, but I'm basically addicted to black liquorice made from the liquorice root, and salty liquorice/salmiac! 🙂
Thanks for sharing.
Welcome back and to Bohuslän
If it's one museum you should visit in Stockholm, go to Livrustkammaren in the Royal Palace. It's the best!
Behind the orchestra in the castle courtyard (Western vaultet) I stood as a guard 14--18 July 1982 when Swedens crown pricnces turned 5 years old. // Jerry from Sweden.
Wow that’s so cool! 😍
What a great tour ladies I bet the burgers taste better than fast food restaurant burgers 🍔
Thank you Xman! You're up so early! And yes, waaaay better! 😋
btw M&O: "Nobel" is pronounced like "no bell". And yes, you should have expected to want to spend more than 1 day in a brand new city. Oh well.
"Stock" can also mean stakes that were part of a defense structure around the city.
That’s a good point 😊 Thank you
No Stockholm is called it because Gamla Stan(stadsholmen) needs to be logged up to not be a muddy watery place.
Nice footage, but for reference, it is illegal to fly drones over the old town and some other parts of Stockholm, so if anyone else does this, you might get a fine, just so you know
My wife works in that orchestra that is horse ridden. Yes. So. She rides the kings horses and play in an orchestra for a living. :).
I filmed the changing of the guards from top of the church tower just next to where you were standing. Halfway up the tower there's a conserved weapon smithy/ blacksmithy from the days of Danish intrusion. They provided the Swedes with an underground source of weaponry.
It was really cool to see this time capsule that unfortunately isn't open to the public...
Should have tried funky chicken food truck in sthlm - they 4 real have the best burgers in the world!
100%
If you need to try best burger in stockholm or in the world, you can try, funky chicken track food
One thing you missed out on is that the white squares on the house facades each represent a victim of the Stockholm bloodbath
Oh that is really interesting! Thank you for sharing 😊
@@MariaOliviaTravel no problem. We learned about it in school and even went on a guided tour of the place
Gamla Stan is the nicest part of Stockholm. Tha changing of the guards is a little strange, also partially because of the choice of music (I had a German folk song in it).
The burgers look great. Hope they also have vegan versions available.
The nature in Northern Sweden is breathtaking.
I think they did have a vegan version 😁 and they probably use the same sauce they use on the regular burger which I think it’s why the burger is so good.
Stigbergets fot is ranked 3rd in Stockholm by burgerdudes.
Funky chicken foodtruck and burgers and pastrami (BAP) are said to have the best burgers in stockholm/Sweden.
burgers and pastrami have good burgers in stockholm
Ah yes, Barrels Burger and Beer. First time I went, it was hands down the single best burger I've ever had.
Wait a minute...568 SEK for a burger and some sides?! That is a ripoff!
568kr??? María & Olivia 0- 1 Sweden 😂
What is it with amercians and caffeine? You are aware Swedish is in like top 5 in the world, maybe top 3 in drinking coffee. Real coffee that is, is even difficult get decaff here, bcz nobody drinks it.
Do u really think 51 dollars is a good price for 2 burgers? =S
Swedish burgers are the best 👍
Dont know if its a fun fact but ill call it that either way (: During the time that alfred nobel lived sweden was called sweden norway and thus included norway, i guess you could techancilly call him norwegen. The peace price is given in norway but i dont know if thats because he spent time there or because he had family from norway...
I went to school just next to his factory, great place to play as a kid. Looked like a overgrown ww2 battlefield and deep caves in the mountains.
Dont remeber anything about a norway connection in his family, but maybe :)
Well, Alfred Nobel didn't invent the peace price.
He invented al the prices exept the economic price. // Jerry from Sweden.
@@jerrykonstigh1352Priset grundades enligt hans testamente. Det är ju ingen uppfinning möjligtvis en innovation.
Buckle up, you gone be in for a treat. Best burgers in Stockholm, definitely not there. God Save America for the best burgers in the world.
I am from Thailand , Do you like Thailand ? Welcome to Bangkok Thailand
We haven’t been to Thailand but we definitely really really want to. We are hoping to come this spring 😁
Been there, loved it. (Bankok an Pattaya) Asia is fantastic.
Like in Sigtuna, a mellinnia later we still have armed gangs :)
Foreign gangs
@@JustanotherScandinaviansailor we have both today. Jsut as then foreign and domestic gangs. Nothing changes. We never learn 🤨
When hot wings video?
Are you really Greek? You sound American?
I'll never understand why people visit another country to eat what they eat at home? What's the f..king point?
The answer is very simple 😊: because they feel like eating that specific thing in that moment? Lol 🤷🏻♀️ if you’re referring to the burger..We ate plenty of traditional food while in Sweden but we also wanted to try a really damn good burger which is not very easy to find where we currently live..which is not the US despite our accent. I hope that takes away some of your confusion 😜
I guess hamburger is a traditional swedish food as well. We dont eat meat balls and falu sausage all the time ;)
@@erikstenviken2652 Well, I would say that it would not be far from the truth to say that to make traditional swedish food you take some foreign food and improve it. :)
That is really not the best Burgers, i think can list 10 burgers that is better. but ill give you 3 now.
1. Nacka strand (food truck)
2. Hägerstens hamburgarkök
3. bap (i havent tasted that yet but i heard its good)
Only the 3rd best burger in Sweden…
Stockholm has the best burgers??? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Not by a longshot they have
Well according to the group burger dudes Swedens best burgers are located in Stockholm. 😅
@@fuvvanfuvopo1705 So they say but its not correct because they only do the bigger towns and have no clue about rest of the country. 😜
@@DrMcKay66Tell me where you think is the best Burger, idd like to try that. And also sweden is known for their smashed burgers but obviously taste is individual. Sweden have won a lot of prices so commersially sweden have the best burgers.
@@stanleysaba106 guess you need to try reindeer and moose burger up north. Beats the most out there 😎
@@DrMcKay66 I can imagine 🍔
So where did you eat the best burger then?
