Compact, expandable, fun!
What is your fave old VJ gear?

Im most impressed that the feedback naturally drifts up
thanks for the rundown. very mobile rig with the ipads, had no idea you coild get analog vid out of the old ones. have a panasonic mx70 and a few other toys and am still figuring it all out.
Super inspiring setup thanks for the walkthrough. Just scored a V-4 and I'm looking forward to incorporate some of your ideas into my own stuff :)
The up and down buttons change the selected effect when you aren't in the menu! :^)
Oh really!!! That is super helpful info!!!! Thanks!!!!
Oh!! I just checked! Thats amazing! How did i miss that! Hahahah!
I only figured it out a couple days ago and it was an accident hahah! Glad to pass this info along
i cant find this app on the app store.. is there any way to download an old build of it?
This is incredible , thank you !!
Thanks for the video! A tip for fellow V4 owners - you're not actually limited to manipulating only the recently selected effect - you can toggle between two active effects by using the up/down arrows next to the menu button. I also have a question: can you specify what exact cables/converters you need to connect iPad to V4 input?
Hello, there was a comment just after the vid from someone letting me know about that, but I also appreciate you letting me know. I don't know why I didn't know that, hahaha,
Im using an IPAD2 and an IPAD2 av calbe

They are a hit hit and miss, but hopefully this helps
@@catfullofghosts4478 Thanks. I have an iPad pro so this cable won't do it. Will have to dig deeper. Cheers!
@@SDuplic needs to be an Ipad2 if u want analog video out, if u have an Ipadpro you will need to go through a few adapters to get analog video
Such a dope rig!
I'd love to see the ins and outs of those feedback and delay controllers! Great set
sure, not much to say, but ill make a picture of it some time.
awesome, learned a lot, thx
Great vid! I'm thinking of building something similar, do you happen to know the approx dimensions of the case?
Whats the model of that video delay? And would it result in a thickening of "stripes" when adding a color invert effect to the channel with the feedback on it?
a little, but not as much as you would think. don't think it has a model I think it is a DIY thing
Epic!!!! How do i get in contact with you? I'm a militant V4 user since 05 and need to pick your brains...
insta probably, look in the comments on a classic gear video.
@@catfullofghosts4478 copy that... will drop you a dm ...
Can I ask how that glass delay box affects the feedback? I got my hands on one but couldn’t get it to pass video
hmmm, that's odd, i might be broken, video should pass directly through a delay box. the longer the delay from the out put to the input in your delay path the further apart each delayed image that gets added to what you see on the screen. the length of the delay can change the quality of the feedback in a pretty subtle way, like how quickly it blows out to white
Great run down. I've never thought about incorporating an app into it all. Does the ipad's camera connector (or whatever it's called) output to a video cable?
Ipad 2’s could out put composite video in pal or ntsc if you have the right cable, the cables are pretty cheap. The only thing is the app on the ipad has to be programmed to output video. So sadly i dont think you can just capture anything.
@@catfullofghosts4478 how do you feel about the current state of the app? It looks like it hasn’t been updated in years and some guy on the ‘net (an authority, I’m sure) was pissed about the FX not being implemented. I’m thinking of this app for my IPad Pro with Lightning I/o. I’m thinking of bringing it together with the Erogenous Tones Structure via an Edirol V4. If you were iOS app hunting today, would choose a different app? Is there anything else out there that grabs your attention?
@@KentBuchla I havnt really looked at many other apps, I really only have these 2 old IPAD 2s and Im not sure how many VJ apps there is that run on such old hardware.
The app is buggy at times, but pretty cheap .
DO you know any other good VJ aps with analogue out?
@@catfullofghosts4478 Thank you. It is odd that I was not notified of a reply. I’m glad that I popped in to check. I’ve been out of the video world for a couple of decades as I’ve focused on Áudio. I’m getting back into it and a friend of mine is offering an iPad 2 for $50. It made me think of this video. I’ve already got a much larger iPad Pro. It isn’t so portable though; rather large. I’m getting an Erogenous Tones Structure from a friend, have a V4, and am considering a cheap iPad as a 2nd generator of sorts. Structure will keep me busy for a long while though.
@@KentBuchlahello, did you have any success using a more modern ipad? i have one from a few years ago and im interested in integrating it however i can.
i would love to see a flowchart! i eat that stuff up
also, now that colorcodeVD is kaput, what do you use these days?
Also very interested in this. Looking at iPad for sampling and curious if you’re still using colorcode or something else?
how do you get the aspect ratio on the ipads to be perfect output for analog? i have had issues with squishing and stretching between hdmi/ digital output converting to analog. please advise.
good question, a lot of my footage is 4:3 to start off with, but otherwise i just acept that there will be cropping. Im pretty sure in the settings for Colourcode VJ you can set crop/lettertbox for your video output
@@catfullofghosts4478 thanks!!
Hey man great vid! what camcorder are you using?
Panasonic NV DS60 super great, cheap little camcorder
@@catfullofghosts4478 Cheers! just got a sony mini dv camcorder. gonna see what i can do with it :)
@@grosfromage5852which one? the handycam, VX or DSR?
Amazing!! What's the video delay device called and did you make the internal/external box yourself?
Its just called a video delay line, they were used for synchronizing video images from cameras with long cable runs.
The box has been cleaned up and is on Kickstarter now actually!

@@catfullofghosts4478 Awesome! Just backed the project. Thanks for the info
Hello can you help me
