    Great work, Karl. What brand are the heads and what is the part number on the intake gaskets?

    • @EllweinEngines
      @EllweinEngines  6 місяців тому

      The heads for this are GM LT1 ported by Lloyd Elliott (LE2) The intake gasket is the FelPro 1284

    Does the hub have to be a press fit? Can't you just hone it out so its a slip fit? We did a sbc a while back and we honed the balancer out so we could make adjustments or if need be remove and replace something at a later date?

    • @EllweinEngines
      @EllweinEngines  6 місяців тому +2

      Good question. This ATI hub has a spec of press fit 0.002. I do have to hone many of these because they arrive tight at about 0.008" too tight for these Eagle Crankshafts. This one was right on at 0.002" from TorqHead (that is not usual though).

    @Karl, can you provide a part number for the Compstar rods selected for this build? Thanks!

    Did you degree the camshaft? Do you thinks its absolutely needed for an LT1 cam swap? I just put mine in and lined up the dots and sent it and so far its good.

    • @EllweinEngines
      @EllweinEngines  2 місяці тому

      Yes I did degree this cam. But it is not absolutely needed. dot to dot is all you need to do.

    What do you charge to build an engine? I have a 4 bolt lt1.

      Drop me a text or email and I'll tell you the labor charge for full assembly. 410-474-5579 or Karl@EllweinEngines.com

    So you ever see oil pressure drop at wot? My 383 carries 60 psi driving and 40 ish hot idle. But on holley i see it drop down to 30 at wot. Stock oil pan

    • @EllweinEngines
      @EllweinEngines  6 місяців тому +7

      Yes. Not on my car or engines. I see it a lot on other peoples cars. The windage tray is the cause. ... the lack of a windage tray. Most people (and some builders) don't put the stock windage tray back on for a stroker because they cannot take the time to fit them up. Without a windage tray the oil becomes 1/2 air and 1/2 oil. That is why the oil pressure goes to 40psig...it's air and oil mix.

    • @mikes.1882
      @mikes.1882 6 місяців тому +3

      Yes, oil gets scattered about the block and the sump can't keep up with the pump demand. Generally the cause of rod bearing and main bearing failure.
      This is rampant in big block dodge motors and a 5 gt sump.

    • @CLEEPER1
      @CLEEPER1 6 місяців тому +1

      @mikes.1882 is there a better oil pan that has a windage tray built in? Also can you put a crank scraper on these lt1?

    • @EllweinEngines
      @EllweinEngines  6 місяців тому +4

      @@CLEEPER1 Yes, crank scraper can be added. I've never fitted one up though. I have not seen a pan that has a good enough windage tray built in. None. No matter what the brand or manufacture says...the pan windage trays suck. The windage tray has to be close to the crank and certainly it has to block the crank from the oil pump pickup (sump) area. In order to allow a pump pickup to fit into an oil pan there cannot be a pan screen in that spot. So an independent main stud mounted screen is required in that sump area.

      @@EllweinEngines ,,,,,,,great explanation.........How can I get these studs and tray for my LT 1,,,,,never dropped my pan,,,,,[ Z-28 camaro 1996] ??? ,,,,,also why a cam with minute overlap ,, I would think at least somewhere between 15 degrees and 23 degrees , ???? ,,, I like the lift and duration at .050"......thinkin of using this cam over the LT-4 cam ????......also TPIS has a few proven performance grinds .....????.
