Gabby--what a GREAT model--a real natural. Her high energy and sparkling personality absolutely leap right out of the photos. THAT, ladies, is how it's done.
You are an absolute joy to listen to... Great tutorials, concise and very easy to follow. This is the standard/benchmark of how youtube tutorials should be done. Thank you kindly for sharing your many years of brilliant experience with us.
I have watched so many photography videos concerning lighting position and everything else and all I have to say is this is by far the best understood video on the internet.
This is brilliant. One light, a big softbox and a reflector board. Grab a few stands and you'd have everything. I guess 8 gear heads wanted a lens review or something. Great job Tony.
Absolutely brilliant in every regard. Wow. What a photographer and teacher... and model. Capturing still images off this video for future reference is like visiting a gold mine with a giant sack.
This was the first video I saw of yours and I remember thinking wow!! Now 18 months later I think wow!! I love the way you teach, you give us the the what and why and makes me feel I can do it.
I love this tutorial. I agree with the last comment made that it's the best one light tutorial. The photographer in the video really knows his stuff.. Would love to pick his brain
Tony your videos helped me a lot when I was starting to try lighting. Thank you so much. BTW I am gonna look for some of those gorgeous soft boxes. There must be some somewhere 🔥
I watched this long time ago, and recently watched again, and I learnt so much more this time. Amazing how much I didn't understand the 1st time. Thank you sir!
3:24: "If I shoot at f11 (like the meter says), it's going to be too bright!" - Thank you for teaching this (1 stop down!), I was always wondering why my rim lights don't look that good. 23:35: How to light a group with *one* softbox. Simply by feathering... This really opened my eyes. So easy! Thanks again!
Thank you for an outstanding video. I have been studying lighting. Its great to know that I can get a softbox. I have been using umbrellas and the results are varied.
Well described. The only thing that I´ve been missing was a vertical information on the pictures that described the setup. So for myself I made some notes like "bottom edge of soft box on height of models belly button".
Excellent video. I have one question i like to ask. This is with setup #3. the clamshell lighting setup (my all time favorite lighting setup.) When it comes to metering. Is it best to meter the light before i put the reflector in, or can i meter the light with the light, and reflector both together? Thank you in advance for your answer.
Hi Sir What size of soft-box will you recommend for someone who is planning to work with a single light and a reflector. Your thoughts will be much appreciated. Great tutorial video, gained form it. God bless you.
Hi Tony. Can you tell me if there are any affordable/budget friendly alternatives for the light head, the soft box and the reflector used in this tutorial?
Hi Tony, great video, Thanks, I learned a lot. I no nothing about artificial light, but I want to learn and start to do some portraiture. Since never use light, my question might look stupid, but does the light meter triggers the camera? I want to buy one light meter and I see that you press a button and the camera fires or is just the strobe, how it works? Does a light Neo2 with a softbox (probably 60x60 for portability) would do the job, or is not big enough?
Gabby--what a GREAT model--a real natural. Her high energy and sparkling personality absolutely leap right out of the photos. THAT, ladies, is how it's done.
That last one is the knockout for me: lighting five people with one light and having the same exposure on them all. Fabulous!
on of the fewest tutorials I had the patience to watch entirely at normal speed. great video, thanks.
All you need to for one light setup. You can watch tons of videos on this topic but this video was simply well put together by Tony.
