Nice but now with the in house chronometer movement you are gonna pay close to $1000 for a service and that price will only keep increasing over the years . That’s a lot of money in the lifetime of the watch , without counting of course the purchase price . For myself , I’m better off getting a Luminox and a Seiko diver , and putting the extra money into a pension fund or into dividend shares that accumulate over time . These Swiss premium, “ luxury” watches have gotten way too expensive for what you get .

I'm a omega seamaster 300M owner, although, mine is from 2009, and I'm still in love with the watch, being a older guy, I have to ask why do so many UA-camrs feel that they have to spin the bezel so much, of course if you're going to use it as a fidget spinner, then the tiny parts in the bezel are going to wear down, creating backlash and loose play, my 09 is still like it was when it was new....if you feel the need to fidget with something, buy a spinner 😅😅🤦🤦
I got the 75th anniversary edition on rubber with the added clasp vs. the standard buckle, and I really love it. I am a big fan of Omega, with this being my 4th one. But you are right, this color and LE pushed me over the edge to get it. And within the first 24 hours, I had several comments on it. I was in Vegas, and store employees at AP and Patek and IWC all asked about it.
Actual divers use dive computers and have being doing so for the past 25+ years. All "dive watches" are toys and only worn for decoration these days. They're jewelry with moving parts so men can pretend these things aren't just jewelry.
Interesting that you mentioned the bezel being a little loose when new. Mine was a little overly tight when new. Mine is a 2024 so I’m curious if it’s an issue that was fixed, OR if it’s kind of a luck of the draw issue.
I own a vintage SMP with electric blue dial and just acquired my 124060, both have their purpose but the Omega has my heart because it was my first luxury watch gift and has been to every beach 🏝️ on the planet!!!
I just picked up this one in Las Vegas Omega boutique at the Wynn. I’m still in the honeymoon phase and constantly get compliments. It’s just different enough to stand out compared to the standard models. This is my largest watch at 42mm, but it still wears solid and not too oversized on my 6.5in wrist size!
Great review. My wife surprised me Xmas morning with this SMP300 summer blue on bracelet, I already have the smp300 white dial and love it. I’ve a sea dweller 4000 34 yrs old and Tudor Submariner 34 yr old all recently serviced. I love them but, I’m definitely an omega man keep up the great content

The case is too big. No taper on the bracelet. Bezel sounds and feels like a $100 watch. Not Rolex level, but a better value for sure. Not a fan of these anniversary edition colorways, either. I'm exhausted with fume dials. I really wanted to get a Seamaster over my now acquired BB54, but it's just too big. Tried one on at the AD. Hopefully Tudor and other brands inspire Omega to release a midsize seamaster. Hell, even a 40mm option would be great. The PO exists at 39, but too thick.
I love a great Bezel myself. But i do dive for work. You really dont know the Bezel action until you are at some sort of depth. Im old-school, and i still dive with a watch as well as a computer. A loose Bezel on the surface can be perfect at depth. And vice versa. Anyway, I love this watch. Great video

On my way up the watch mountain I admired my friends Omega seamaster. Once I bought my gmt master and sea dweller, i never looked back. I admire their history, but believe they are too busy in design.
Check out the Guanqin submariner homage. It’s 50 bucks right now and is an awesome watch…plus it says “since 8500” on the dial…which is just fantastically funny.
This Diver 300m summer bleu 75e is really beautifull and I gonna buy it. 7000e is not cheap Sir! The 8800 mvt is more precise than my date just 41. And I think this Omega is à good value.. take care of it..❤
I really respected my Father-in-law. Very understated. When he wasn't in scrubs in the operating room he wore simple Brooks Brothers. Drove a pickup truck. in the 60s when Omega and Rolex were both around $300, he bought an Omega. It was always quality over prestige. After fifty years, when he thought the Omega got too expensive to maintain, he bought a Timex. After he died recently I mentioned this to my wife. What did she do, bought me an Omega. Not only that, she found a mint 007 40th. I don't even dive, nor do 99.9% of those with a seamaster.
The Planet Ocean is still my favorite over the Diver 300, enen though it is a beautiful watch. However, I have never been a fan of the Helium Escape external screw. Can't Omega elimate this? Does Rolex have the patent on this design? That valve is the only part that is stopping me from buying this watch. I don't like it.
Not on the market for either, but to my eyes the regular Rolex Sub is by far the classier, more timeless design. So what if you can get 2 Omegas , or 3 Tudors, or 5 Longines etc.. Simply looks wise - Baltic Aquascaphe is cooler than both ;)
went down the mall and tried the seamaster on then tried on the breitling superocean 46 mm A17378E71C1A1 and much preferred to the omega , i think the omega rubber strap is kinda shiny and feels a bit cheap and no deployment clasp at that price ? the rubber strap on my oris aquis is better than omega .. in the end bought the breitling , not in the mall though , in the uk the omega seameaster is £5600 on metal strap and the super ocean is £4300 , managed to find an as new 4 month old 46 mm super ocean for £2800 thats on the metal strap and guess what , when i got it is a brand new with all paperwork and the first owner had extended the warranty from 2 years to 4 , and guess what else was in the box ? the breitling blue rubber strap with deployment clasp .... i like not having the date on the watch as never use them anyway ... should hold its money at that price and in time maybe increase ...
I mean I get it. Pound for pound the Omega is good deal on paper... But it is not a Submariner, it does not have the brutalist design that is preserved from the days of the Cold War, it is too shiny, it has AR coating on top of the crystal (abysmal and annoying) and the bracelet and clasp are.. ok-ish. Hence why I own the no date Sub and not the SMP. Yes, Rolex are autists and their AD's can suck it, but I got the only model I love, so I could care less.
The new OSMP300 is a stunner, the blue is bang a on beauty, beast of a movement and a home run in the dive watch category. I’ve owned 2265.80 with the electric ⚡️ blue wave 🌊 dial over 20 years and it is a workhorse!

It's by far less comfortable than a Submariner. Watch is fine, but it's about time they redesign the bracelet, it needs taper and some chamfers at least on the underside. Plus a smaller clasp. Luckily Rolex already provides this since 2009.
Very good comparison review thank you Randy. I am fortunate enough to have a white dial 300m but every time Omega bring out another colourway or variant I would generally like to own it. I also agree that the strap changing offers the opportunity to reinvent or freshen up the look. Omega have NATO options as well, I would however just highlight the cost of the mesh which is off the scale at £750. I have a GMT which rarely gets worn as the value has increased considerably and stupidly since I bought it so I'm kinda frightend to wear it, not an issue with the Omega. I think either will serve you well depending on which camp you fall into but I don't see the Rolex being worth double the Omega in my humble opinion.

Tudor is the watch a smart consumer buys when they want to daily a Rolex. Omega has the James Bond providence which is big with yhe boomer generation. But how many Speedmasters can they make and recreate? Theyre putting them on swatches now. Do you see Rolex ever pulling that stunt? You dont have to be a forum junky either to start putting together the pieces about their reliability and service costs, they all will tell you just pay AD price because you will need the warranty.

Omega was effectively reinvigorated by a jcbiver who started the frankenbrand, threw swatch money at everything and everyone until something sticks. Rolex did none of that shit, they have consistently built their brand based on quality and status. The only time omega truly had a leg up was on their milled clasps- rolex responded with the glide lock. The best in the industry past 14 years.

There is no comparison to a Deep Sea James Cameron. Rolex is -2/+2 seconds per day vs Omega -4 / +6 seconds per day. The crown screw down on the Omega is not as refined as well as the the bezel click. Rolex smokes an Omega 300M
You have it the wrong way around. Omega is 0 /+5 sec a day (METAS) and Rolex is -4 /+6 sec a day (COSC). Rolex then claims -2/+2 sec a day ( Superlative). The problem with superlative is 1. It's not independently verified 2. It's not transparent on what happens during the test. And 3. What they do tell us is it's tested on a watch winder. The watch winder is an issue because a watches accuracy over 24 hrs is to give the variance over 24 hrs of mainspring depletion because the mainspring cannot deliver torque with any consistency. So COSC and METAS tests are done to ensure the automatic rotor does not replenish mainspring power. Superlative test is done to ensure the rotor DOES replenish mainspring power.

The mesh strap in my opinion. Is lighter and better to wear that heavy obstructing one in summer especially.

Agee, I have an Omega 300m and I can get GS snowflake or an aquaterra still cheaper than a sub.

Different taste, I wont change one Sub for 10 horrible Seamasters! That absurd hands and general design of the Seamaster, it looks like a toy, that ridiculous valve at 10 that nobody needs, and the finishing on the Rolex is spectacular and timeless.

omega just feels cheaply made in comparison to rolex and they always end up running less accurately than my rolexes. You get what you pay for

Omega was effectively reinvigorated by a jcbiver who started the frankenbrand, threw swatch money at everything and everyone until something sticks.
Rolex did none of that shit, they have consistently built their brand based on quality and status. The only time omega truly had a leg up was on their milled clasps- rolex responded with the glide lock. The best in the industry past 14 years.

I'm still saving for my omega, i keep getting close but something happens where i have to spend some. This time it was 2 new tyres, two front shocks and the M.O.T. so that was a quick £500 from my watch savings. I will get there soon. Cheers Randy.

There is no comparison to a Deep Sea James Cameron. Rolex is -2/+2 seconds per day vs Omega -4 / +6 seconds per day. The crown screw down on the Omega is not as refined as well as the the bezel click. Rolex smokes an Omega 300M
You have it the wrong way around. Omega is 0 /+5 sec a day (METAS) and Rolex is -4 /+6 sec a day (COSC). Rolex then claims -2/+2 sec a day ( Superlative). The problem with superlative is 1. It's not independently verified 2. It's not transparent on what happens during the test. And 3. What they do tell us is it's tested on a watch winder.
The watch winder is an issue because a watches accuracy over 24 hrs is to give the variance over 24 hrs of mainspring depletion because the mainspring cannot deliver torque with any consistency. So COSC and METAS tests are done to ensure the automatic rotor does not replenish mainspring power. Superlative test is done to ensure the rotor DOES replenish mainspring power.
