Just bought my first Omega (upgrade from my TAG Auquracer). Bought the seaweed green Seamaster 300. The difference in quality over the TAG is amazing, yet price wise not a million miles different. TAG was always loosing time. Two weeks in and this Omega hasn’t lost a second. Had to move to bigger house to be able to accommodate the wonderfully huge wooden box it comes in 😊
I can easily say that aquaracer 200 is running time perfect, never had complain. But people like us , our eyes always will be on seamaster 300 , and one day we will get it 😊. To be honest i will use my aquarecer 200 with blue faded screen for everyday. Seamaster 300 is better than rolex for be, i would wear it in every special unforgettable days. Enjoy you watch dear friend ❤
The box is yet another thing that Omega does better than Rolex. The green faux leather doesn't really exude quality. But i guess it's their thing now so why change 🤷♂️
Interesting new video, but I prefer the sleaker "300" toolwatch version, awaiting the " Seamaster Only " reference guide focusing on all the Seamaster toolwatches ! We fear that the HeV Helium valve toothpaste cap at 10 o'clock must hit & hurt the forearm bone near the left wrist ?! Large 42 mm & huge 45 mm watches for James Bond, while Britsh author Ian Fleming wrote about a subtle 36 mm Explorer 1016 gentleman's wrist watch. Then again "De Gustibus Non Est Disputandum" .
My dad just gave me his seamaster 300. He brought it in 2003. He has just retired from work and moved from UK to Spain and gave it to me as a leaving present. I’ve never seen what all the fuss was about, but I wore it today and now I get it and have fallen in love with it. Great review
After many years of deliberation I bought the model (steel bracelet, black face) you reviewed here, and I'm totally happy. What a beautiful, iconic piece of craftmanship. Wearing it right now.
Did not realise I was in a minority, but I absolutely adore the Seamaster bracelet. In fact, I can't think of a better looking bracelet, and I always prefer bracelets to straps. The new Milanese bracelet is nice too, but not as original - that's why I like it, but don't love it.
My first luxury watch was the blue version of this watch. Since then, I’ve gotten the white face, black face, and the No Time to Die versions. You could say I am definitely a fan.
@@alexanderbell4976 if I had to pick one, I’d say the white. Something about that white dial with the black bezel. I feel like I can wear it with anything with the neutral color.
I have 3 seamasters 300m, which in total cost me more than a submariner, which i would never buy. The black seamaster KILLS the submariner anytime in beauty. And i just bought the seaweed. Its dangerous for me to drive while wearing it, cos i swear, i cant stop looking at it. Omega hit the jackpot !❤ great video man, immediate sub
The Seamaster 300 Pro just moved to the top grail spot on my list. I’ve been a fan a long time, but your review solidified it! Great review. Thank you 🙏🏻
I actually just tried one on for the first time recently. It has now jumped to the top of my grail list. And yes I love the bracelet. Traditional oyster style is a bit boring. I’ve always liked something busier like a jubilee or beads of rice. This bracelet gives some bling, is a tad busy and is original.
as someone with not much interest in luxury watches I know I'll never buy, I must say this was a really interesting video on the history of this watch and the movement. gained newfound appreciation for the seamaster
First time I heard about George Daniels. This channel is so good, what a welcome change from all the mainstream channels saying so much and yet so little about Omega!
to think i was considering trading mine. This video reminded me why I loved it in the first place. To add to your insight on the bracelet, I don't believe it's the style that people don't like but rather the overall weight. At least that is why I did not like it. Aesthetically I think it is stunning. To resolve the weight issue, I put a Forstner oyster-style bracelet specifically designed for the SMP300 and it completely changed the wrist wearing experience for the better. Thanks for sharing.
I think Omega just has to stick to their designs aesthetically and they’ll be fine, during the quartz crisis they switched up their designs so much that it hurt their sales. People want watches that stand the test of time in the movement and the look. Omega definitely has the movement, and I believe they’re headed to having the look. The Speedmaster obviously already does but their diver watches are just now getting there. The diver 300m has stayed the same for 30 years or so, the planet ocean gives a nod to the past Seamaster’s, and obviously the Seamaster 300 does as well. And if they can just slim down the case with that co-axial escapement inside!
This review appeared in my "notifications" and here I am. Very good production of a clearly presented review. Also interesting for the "extra" tidbits of information. As far as the 300? I love the ceramic dial on these, and the detailing of the face/hands. That 10 O'Clock "wart" kills it for me though! Thanks for the well put together presentation.
I think the reason they keep the minute hand green so that it matches the green dot at the top of the bezel so that it's easily distinguishable if you're setting your bezel for a certain amount of minutes. Easier to see how close the green minute hand is to the green dot when you're diving?
Wonderful, articulate, honest review, beautifully photographed and narrated.. I love the fact that the watch you own has the scratches that demonsrtate daily wear and actual use.
That was one of the best reviews ever. Definitely leaning towards adding a black dial Omega Sea master to my collection. It is really starting to grow on me👍
A superb review of a beautiful watch and I particularly liked the historical aspect. I sold on my first quartz Seamaster about 10 years ago. However, I've recently purchased the green on a rubber strap Seamaster 300M. It's accurate to 1 second a day and comfortable on the wrist. Great for an automatic movement. This one's a keeper. Please keep up the interesting content.
Picked up this watch in blue a week ago, I like the bracelet and the HEV doesn’t bother me, the accuracy is 0.3 seconds per day, I really like this watch, it’s worth the $$$.

Great video love the history and background about the brand and the movement. Love your work just wish you released videos with greater frequency. No doubt a great watch but for me personally it's just too busy. Between the wavy dial, those hands the helium escape valve and the scalloped bezel it's just too much. Less is more IMO. I really wish that Omega would release a retro version of the SM 300 with the sword hands like you showed in this video. In my opinion that's the best looking SM300 ever released. I agree with you about everything you said regarding the Rolex.
Hey. Great video but that not the divers extension. Drivers extension is actually just behind the micro adjustments. Can you push down on the top of the bracelet near the buckle and it extends out about 3/4 of an inch
Awesome review ! I love the omega seamaster 300 and i am planning to take it as soon as possible. I love it in blue dial but as well as in black. I can’t decide. But i am sure that any of the colours will make me very happy. Especially that will be my first omega watch and i love watches generally. I would love a Rolex as well but let’s be honest .. is hard to buy one at retail and i think as VALUE for the money … omega easy wins ! Is a masterpiece and the quality is the same as a submariner ! Thank you for your amazing video ❤
I agree with you completely about Lum & hands… I just purchased a Seamaster Worldtimer and the lack of night legibility / distinction of hands really annoys me
Nice review. The Seamaster looks excellent on a NATO too. 300M is great value and hard to beat in the Diver market. However, I have a Sea Dweller, which gets more wrist time. If you want a Rolex. Get a Rolex.
Nothing wrong with Rolex as long as you’re buying it for the right reasons (and are careful where you wear it). Out of curiosity, what do you think of the new Sea-Dweller DeepSea Challenge? Amazing, or too much?
@@WondersofWatchdom It's impressive, but it is a bit much... more of a statement piece. Dwarfs the Sea-Dweller. It makes it look like a 36mm Datejust next to it. Congrats on this awesome timepiece! Fab vid, with all your observations and the interesting background information. Don't know if you really can impress people by wearing a watch anymore (probably wishful thinking - unwanted attention is documented, though), but your reviews certainly are impressive work. Thanks!
Glad you liked the video! In my experience, people are still impressed by luxury watches even though they may pretend not to be. But Rolex are a bit unique in that respect. When I did the Invicta Pro Diver review (looks like a vintage Submariner) and the Pagani GMT review (looks like a Rolex GMT) I got tons of passive-aggressive comments like, “Someday maybe you’ll be able to buy a real Rolex Submariner” or “This watch is for people who can’t afford a Rolex.” Also comments like, “I bought this but someday I’ll own the real one.” It’s a bizarre, distinctly Rolex thing where people have an intense desire to own a submariner someday, both hate and admire others for being able to own one now, and dislike people who they think are taking “shortcuts” to owning one. They assumed I was buying the watch to “pretend” it’s a Rolex rather than just being a nice-looking reliable watch at a great price.
Thanks for the video. It was really good. With all the due respect, I will point out one mistake. You call the watch Omega Seamaster 300. The watch is an Omega Seamaster 300M. The Seamaster 300 is a completely different watch.
The beautiful 2018 Omega seamaster 300 is the best watch I ever purchased. Your paying big money for the name Rolex, but when it comes to quality and sheer engineering, this watch is amazing.
A very excellent quality review. As a fellow Canadian, I find your narration is very clear with the right tempo to make for a relaxing experience.. eh? 🤣. I will subscribe to your channel. By the way, you have an outstanding watch with the same actual accuracy of the Seiko Spring Drive!
I have two Seamasters. One has gold bezel & the gold trim in five-piece band. Both are quartz & enjoy the carefree worry of wondering if it stopped or not. Very nice video.
The reason I got into watches is because of the Omega Seamaster as seen in the Bond films (and yes I'm a big Bond fan). Only reason why I won't purchase the Omega Seamaster is not only because of price but because the 42mm case diameter is too big for my skinny wrist 😅
Seiko has a boring lume but kinda clear, the only one whom I saw utilising minute hand with different lume colour from the other places on the watch aside Omega is Citizen
The movement is fantastic, better than a Rolex. Good review and a nice watch. Personally, I've never liked the style of that model, but I am odd, because I haven't liked the Submariner since they added the Mercedes hand either 😁
Impressive 👍 When I put my perfectly preserved 1968 Seamaster on a timegrapher I understand why quartz got that scary. That wave pattern reminds me of the ESQ watches, it shouldn't but it still does.
Loved this video - thank you! Picking up a No Time To Die in Las Vegas this coming Saturday for my 40th Birthday and can’t wait to have/wear it so I appreciated the history of this video! Now….do you like to say O’MEG’A or O’MEEEEEG’A??? Curious!
@@WondersofWatchdom picked up the watch on NYE and wow is all I can say!! The Omega at Bellagio made the whole experience so much fun and I'm blow away by the watch!!
Connery chose to wear a Rolex in the first James film (in addition to a Gruen) because Fleming himself wore one and adored it as a high quality tool watch. If you look at a closeup of all the early Rolexes in Bond films, including Roger Moore’s submariner in The Man with the Golden Gun, they all have one thing in common - they’re completely beaten up and the crystals have multiple scratches. Love it! Sadly, in recent years the submariner has become the quintessential snob troll watch, purchased by people who would never dare use it as a tool watch. I’ve never seen that Sean Connery quote: do you have a link?
8:40 George Daniels definitely doesn't get mentioned enough. I'm an Omega fanboy and I would definitely respect Omega more if they paid homage to his escapement but they never seem to mention him. Maybe they just don't like to admit that an Englishman contributed the biggest selling point to their watches, the coaxial escapement.
Great review! I own this watch in blue and the quartz "Goldeneye" 300m. I also own a new 41mm Rolex Submariner. I have to say, I disagree on a couple of things: I'm one of the people who does love the look of the bracelet! Also, the lume is better on the Submariner in my experience (although i have the newest kne so maybe ut was updated). I also think that the 300m is much more aesthetically pleasing than the Submariner - it has so much better finiahing and detail and has a symetrical dial with the date window at 6 o'clock (of course, its subjective). Also, i think alot of people would recognise the 300m, ive had people confuse my older 300m for a Rolex before 😂 IMO, if they made this watcch in 40/41mm, made it 1mm thinner and made the helium escape valve smaller like the first generation of the 300m it would be almost perfect. They could also smoothen the bracelet a bit more like the older models, the modern version's brcaelet is quite "sharp".
I own this exact watch as well for over six months now. This is by far my favorite watch, and I’m one of those people that actually really love this bracelet it’s chunky but sturdy. My watch gains about two seconds per day consistently, I don’t know if that should be considered acceptable for a master chronometer? Another awesome thing about this watch is that it looks just as good as the day I bought it, it’s really gorgeous. By the way, my wrist is 7 1/4, and it fits really well.
@@KLucero22 mine is 3.6 according to the website. I am impressed by the 0.4 sec in the review.. got lucky there for sure Also, how are you testing the accuracy ?
Always like seamster style and tech but how about it durability? My father 2001 gmt master II still running comfortably plus 5 second a day without any service. Can anyone explain it for me.
Trying on a sub and gmt master ii at an AD made me love my Seamaster a lot more. The Rolexes felt like toys on wrist - the SMP is such a better value for what you pay.
Love the way you expose the SM, the only drawback of this watch in my opinion is the stainless steel bracelet not tappered. Anyways this is a well presented story of the Omega SM, nicely done!
The 9937OB is the same case, dial, bracelet, glass etc as the one I already reviewed - just using a Sellita movement instead of Seiko. So I likely won’t do a new video but much of my old one will be applicable. Hope that helps! Invicta Pro Diver ua-cam.com/video/HXCOWOhuLf8/v-deo.html
As a Seamaster 300 collector (I have limited edition 50 years James Bond Anniversary, Black black, blue with blue rubber, japan2020 olympic edition, and james bond no time to die edition) I have to agree to most all review in this video...he just missing the amount of happines, confidence and pride by wearing this collection 👍👍👍
Love the video and have this watch (on the rubber strap). It’s the reason I’m selling all of my other watches - which never get any wrist time anymore, sadly.
Who does not agree with the looks of the bracelet..? This is a classic, an icon the most awarded design watch. The same question would be, if there are people who don't like how the Mona Lisa is smiling at you..! She smiles like she does, live with it, don't question it....!!
A view from the UK. I am conducting a survey here on youtube asking all watch channels what they mean by the word "Luxury" when used to describe a watch. Can i have your definition please?
Movement and components that are fully or partly hand decorated and beautiful at a micro level with low tolerances to spec. Built to last, serviceable by a watchmaker. High quality materials (ex top grain leather, marine grade stainless steel).
@@WondersofWatchdomGreat. So now tell me where your definition is applicable to Rolex and Omega etc., as ALL of them use the same CNC machines to make their parts. Much of the assembly is also done by machine. You know, like making cars. I gotta tell ya, you really are scraping the barrel thinking that a leather strap is "Luxury". And what the Sam Hill is "Marine grade stainless steel", i thought it was 316 grade, the same we use in various engineering applications. And why are you calling this a "Luxury item"?
First, let’s acknowledge that your “survey” was clearly just trolling for a response to get angry about. I’m fine with machines making the parts, because it makes them to a impressive degree of accuracy. Hand finishing is different. If you see the finishing of the Luch Speed movement i just reviewed and the Omega movement, the difference is night and day. I also said top grain leather (or better), not just “leather.” Most watches tend to use inferior “genuine leather.” And I said quality components, which is marine grade steel as a start but often includes unique alloys and/or non-oxidizing metals. If you haven’t noticed the difference between the finishing and movement of a Seiko Turtle, for example, and an Omega Seamaster, then it’s time you take a look at both in person because the differences in quality and finishing are monumental. Both great watches, but only the Omega is a luxury watch. So how about you? What’s your definition of a luxury watch?
I understand, but a no date Sub for me is what got me into watches and I always wanted a no date Sub. Since things are changing for the better I will wait for the opportune moment to get my Sub. The SMP300 is simply not for my taste. I don't like the shiny looks and I abhor AR coating on top of the glass. I think it's unpractical and defeats the presuppose of a rugged watched the SMP 300 is supposed to be (I guess). I managed to get a mint green DJ41 under retail, I will get a Sub too and be over with it. I randomly stumbled upon this video and felt compelled to share my passion for the Sub, same way you express yours for the SMP. Ultimately which one is better is really a heavily subjective matter. I know how to wind it and I wanna buy it because I like it a lot. I don't care about peer rejection or approval.
If you don’t care about peer rejection or approval but buying the sub because you like it, you’re my kind of sub buyer. They’re rare but thankfully they’re still out there!
@@WondersofWatchdom I know plenty more guys, some of which my friends and he owns his favorite watch - GMT Master 2 and he loves everything tied to it. From the story to the technology beating inside it. Along his Speedmaster these are his keepers for life, same way the Sub will be a keeper for life.

In my experience, people are still impressed by luxury watches even though they may pretend not to be. But Rolex are a bit unique in that respect.
When I did the Invicta Pro Diver review (looks like a vintage Submariner) and the Pagani GMT review (looks like a Rolex GMT) I got tons of passive-aggressive comments like, “Someday maybe you’ll be able to buy a real Rolex Submariner” or “This watch is for people who can’t afford a Rolex.” Also comments like, “I bought this but someday I’ll own the real one.”
It’s a bizarre, distinctly Rolex thing where people have an intense desire to own a submariner someday, both hate and admire others for being able to own one now, and dislike people who they think are taking “shortcuts” to owning one. They assumed I was buying the watch to “pretend” it’s a Rolex rather than just being a nice-looking reliable watch at a great price.
Love the clean interrupted crystal allowing me to see the beautiful dial and markers without the "cyclops" of the Submariner..
Thanks for the video. It was really good. With all the due respect, I will point out one mistake. You call the watch Omega Seamaster 300. The watch is an Omega Seamaster 300M. The Seamaster 300 is a completely different watch.
From any angle this is a stunning timepiece
One of the best reviews of this watch! Well done sir!
Thanks for the Bond spoilers, haven't watched "No time to die" yet 😭. Great video though 🙂.
The movement is fantastic, better than a Rolex. Good review and a nice watch. Personally, I've never liked the style of that model, but I am odd, because I haven't liked the Submariner since they added the Mercedes hand either 😁
Just bought my first Omega 300 in Sedna gold , absolutely love it , to be honest got fed up with Rolex nonsense. Love this timepiece .
I'm glad I have Omega Seamaster, my first collection, bought 3weeks ago
Bought this beauty today. Awesome watch
Impressive 👍
When I put my perfectly preserved 1968 Seamaster on a timegrapher I understand why quartz got that scary.
Curious!
I say Omega but Bond says O’Meega.
You’re going to love the watch. Happy 40th!
@@WondersofWatchdom love it - thanks so much!!
I also hear people say, “O-May-ga”. I say”O-Meg-a”. Cheers!
@@jonathanl2748 Thank you! I think I'm just going to go with o-MEG-a unless I'm in the UK 😜 - picked up the watch last week and it's AMAZING!!
@@WondersofWatchdom picked up the watch on NYE and wow is all I can say!! The Omega at Bellagio made the whole experience so much fun and I'm blow away by the watch!!
Omega paid to be apart of James Bond. Rolex never paid for the endorsement. Sean Connery once said you buy an Omega if you can’t afford a Rolex.
Smart purchase, as usual. Enjoy your watch!
Also, i think alot of people would recognise the 300m, ive had people confuse my older 300m for a Rolex before 😂
IMO, if they made this watcch in 40/41mm, made it 1mm thinner and made the helium escape valve smaller like the first generation of the 300m it would be almost perfect.
Master Chronometer accuracy tolerance is 0-5 seconds per day so it sounds like your watch is spot on
@@KLucero22 mine is 3.6 according to the website. I am impressed by the 0.4 sec in the review.. got lucky there for sure
Also, how are you testing the accuracy ?
this the best review of this watch I ever seen , I love your video and I own this watch it is amazing
Always like seamster style and tech but how about it durability? My father 2001 gmt master II still running comfortably plus 5 second a day without any service. Can anyone explain it for me.
It’s in the video.
Trying on a sub and gmt master ii at an AD made me love my Seamaster a lot more. The Rolexes felt like toys on wrist - the SMP is such a better value for what you pay.
Great video. Doubt I'd ever be able to afford such a watch, but it's still fascinating information.
Love the way you expose the SM, the only drawback of this watch in my opinion is the stainless steel bracelet not tappered. Anyways this is a well presented story of the Omega SM, nicely done!
As someone who is, or has been scuba certified I would dive with an Omega Seamaster 300 Series model without a second thought
I purchased the blue Diver 300 m two months ago and am happy with it, but the Lum on the hands could be improved.
can you make a video on the Invicta pro diver model 9937OB?
The 9937OB is the same case, dial, bracelet, glass etc as the one I already reviewed - just using a Sellita movement instead of Seiko. So I likely won’t do a new video but much of my old one will be applicable. Hope that helps!

@@WondersofWatchdomSorry Im kinda new to the channel but I did watch the video and it did help. Thank you.
No worries! Glad to hear you’re enjoying the channel.
Thanks but why would you randomly just spoil No Time to Die?
The movie came out two years ago. Lol
"Anyone who buys a Rolex to impress someone --- isn't very impressive." 😂 Ouch!
Kind of true, though.
This is a great review; thanks for making this video! Love my Omega Seamaster 300m!
Best bracelet ever made is the one on my Planet Ocean GMT 600M. That is superb in every way.
I love it I bought the same watch but on the silicon strap
What a refreshingly informative vid.
Agree with everything you said. I have a blue one. Best watch I own, hands down. I wear it 5/7 days. Goes with everything
Best watch I ever owned. Period.
Who does not agree with the looks of the bracelet..? This is a classic, an icon the most awarded design watch.
The same question would be, if there are people who don't like how the Mona Lisa is smiling at you..! She smiles like she does, live with it, don't question it....!!
Nothing beats Seiko lume. Tested both over the years. Plus, Seiko is popular without superstars and Hollywood movies.
Yay a new wonders of watchdom video 👍
I also said top grain leather (or better), not just “leather.” Most watches tend to use inferior “genuine leather.”
And I said quality components, which is marine grade steel as a start but often includes unique alloys and/or non-oxidizing metals.
Excellent review 👏
I love the bracelet! The reason why I did not buy a Rolex...apart from the quality, accuracy, look, brand, etc
Bracelet is Iconic
Uncle straps makes aftermarket bracelets for the Seamaster if you don't like the one it comes on.
Excellent review. Thank you.
Tried on this watch at the AD, bracelet was too heavy, went with the rubber strap instead.
Seiko Lume is the best better than any Rolex. Anyway great video
Alaways a good review good job and I hope you will enjoy =)))
