    The v6 has a dipstick. It’s simple. Drain, measure the amount that came out , refill with that amount. I did the process again. 😊

    I just drained my transmission and it measured 6 liters. I filled it up using the fill check plug on the side of the transmission and I only used 4 quarts. I think the dealership overfilled my transmission when I took it with them.

    Just changed my fluid. Same exact car as yours. Only got just under 3.5 quarts. 3 quarts 300 ml to be exact. Makes me worried someone previously under filled it. I don’t wanna add more and over fill it if it’s got the amount it should have. I see most people get 4 quarts or more from this make and model drain and fill.

    • @HowtoandReviewsOfficial

      I would also put in the same amount that came out as to not overfill it. And I would also be curious if it is under filled from a previous owner.

    I've always been terrified of changing transmission fluid, so many people tell me not to change the transmission fluid because apparently new fluid can mess up the gears, I have a 2017 Chevy Impala with 145,000 MI, is it safe to change the transmission fluid with all new fluids at this point?

    • @HowtoandReviewsOfficial
      @HowtoandReviewsOfficial  11 місяців тому +2

      The fluid does not last forever. It is burned up and losing its properties. The owners manual says to change it. It should be changed.
      A drain and fill should be safe. You are just replacing bad fluid with good fluid.
      What do you want to avoid as a power flush. That can break loose debris and cause issues. I think that is probably what you are concerned with.
      That is my view on it. But by all means, do additional research until you feel comfortable.

    • @amrbasri68

      Ive done plenty of research on this particular topic, the conclusion ive come to from experienced mechanics is to change the transmission fluid on time and regularly, however if oyuve never chnaged the transmission fluid and ur way past the change date, then dont change the fluid. Changing will only cause more damage

      This vehicle doesn’t have a pan that can be removed from below to change the filter. To change the filter, the transmission must be removed from the vehicle and split. The only maintenance available (other than a flush) is the partial drain and refill shown in this video. It is partial because the transmission fluid in the torque converter does not drain.

    I'm honestly thinking about doing this myself but I've read that there is a specific way to do it, needing to get the transmission fluid to a certain temperature to check its proper level becuase the liquid rises when at a certain temperature and is a different level when cold. I dont know how true this is. I was wondering how your car has been holding up since doing this fluid change ?

    • @HowtoandReviewsOfficial
      @HowtoandReviewsOfficial  Рік тому +2

      Good point. Materials and fluids expand as the temperature increases. You could change the fluid when the car is “cold” so the fluid in the car and the fluid in the jug are the same temperature to eliminate this variable.
      I have not had any issues with this vehicle. It is running fine.

      You will be doing a drain and fill. If the transmission has a dipstick, fill it to the cold full mark on level ground. If there is not a dipstick (like the vehicle in this video), add the same amount of fluid that was removed.

      My dip stick says “hot check”. And when I check it while car is running, I can’t really tell where the line of fluid is at. When I drained it. About 6 quarts was drained out. I made the mistake by using a 5 quart container and it started to overflow. So I lost some oil. Couldn’t measure it out. I just put back in 6 quarts according to some transmissions shops and dealers around here in Scottsdale area. Thank you though👍

      @@HowtoandReviewsOfficial Well of course. But it is still crazy trying to get a correct answer to how many quarts on a simple change to put in. Amsoil says 6.4 without a flush, my Malibu used to be 5.3. I changed mine yesterday and it didn't even have 5 quarts in my 2014 Impala. I put 5.4 back in. The sight plug is impossible to reach. Hard to imagine no one seems to know the actual correct amount.
