I had this at local bar, a shot anyway. It was amazing it’s probably my favorite rye whisky at the moment.
Good review. If there were an award I say it deserves, it'd be "best *budget* rye in the world". Lot of flavor and spice, and a good ABV for it's price point. I know this is an extremely popular bottle for European bourbon lovers.
Yeah it did fairly well in our Budget Rye Bracket Battle . However it did get beat by Wild Turkey 101 Rye , Old Forester 100 proof Rye and Rittenhouse Rye . So those are all worth checking out if you have not yet . Thanks for the watch , cheers 🥃
I've got a KC Rye Single Barrel local store pick. It's so balanced, well aged, and sort of a bourye. For only $45?? Fantastic bottle at a great great price. Big winner to me.
I definitely agree , even the standard is more of a Bourye given that it's only 51% Rye but man is it good and only 30 bucks ? No brainer .
Have yet to see any store picks myself . Will have to look out for those .
Was not surprised you liked the Knob Creek Rye. I am sure it drinks way above the price point. I am still trying to find a WT101 Rye but this one is easier to find, might need to start here. Great Review.

I watched this video early this morning, but decided to wait until this evening to try some again before I commented.
I bought a bottle of this early last year when I was on a big rye kick and was pretty underwhelmed with it because it just didn't come across very rye forward to me, and at the time that was what I was looking for.
Taking another crack at it tonight after knowing what to expect, it actually is a really nice whiskey. It just comes across to me more like a high rye bourbon than a rye whiskey, but that's okay because I love high rye bourbons too. Your tasting notes seem right on the money,.. light mint and nice baking spice, but unfortunately little to no pepper at all.
That bottle has been sitting on my shelf over 90% full for almost two years, but I think I will be grabbing it a bit more often moving forward.
On my second pour now I am getting a little bit of black pepper on the finish. I'm really glad I came back to this one,.... thanks Sean.
@@StillLivinginthewoods - I am glad you are enjoying it . It definitely drinks like a Bourye as Sugar Kitty pointed out , but as you said , I am fine with that . Really enjoying the spiciness of this Rye .

Knob creek rye out of all the rise I have drank Is by far my all time favorite
Interesting .... Everyone is different . That said , have you had Wild Turkey 101 Rye , Old Forester Rye and Rittenhouse Rye ? Those would be my top 3 in the budget category.
Non budget I would say Barrell Seagrass , Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof Special Edition and New Riff 6 Year Malted Rye . Honorable mention to Stellum Barrel Proof Rye .

I have this rye and I'm pretty happy with it. The spice is right there and has a very classic rye finish. I think if it was aged a little longer I think it would be money but then again I think they were trying to keep it at that point, and for that it's excellent. I've had far more costly ryes and this has them beat...dont get me wrong this doesn't beat Highwest's Rendevous or John David Albert's Toas Lightning...I have to figure out how to get a fragrance sample of the Toas lighting.
Some other great Ryes I have found at some higher price points , which we will get to soon . New Riff 6 Year Malted Rye , Barrel Bourbon's Seagrass Rye and Sagamore Spirit's Double Oak Rye . Sagamore Spirit's Rye is MGP Distillate that has been double barreled .
Also Knob Creek Rye is great , especially for the price .
Candian Rye is the best lucky to live on the Minnesota/Candian border great selection of candian ryes
