  • Ok, Hear me out! when you're looking through a zoom lens at landscapes you can get really creative with what frame you wish to capture. the RF100-400mm lens from canon is so light and versatile that in this video i ended up shooting every-shot with it. I didn't start out with the intention to do so but in this video you'll see photographs from an epic sunset in the rockies and what this lens allowed me to zoom right in on.

Hi matthew, I’m looking to get my very first camera. Do you have any experience with the canon eos r10? I’m leaning towards the r10 with this lens, many say its a good budget set but tbh its quite pricy imo (I’m aware this is relatively cheap in the camera world). Anyways, if you can give me any tips or recommendations would be much appreciated. Great video!

Dude buy whatever you can afford with manual settings. Just taking photos is the best option when you’re starting out.. and to buy second hand. There’s a lot of rich people that buy nice cameras and never use them then sell em cheaper

Watching you jump out of the car to take a pic road side made me laugh. I couldn’t count how many times I’ve done that

Hi Matthew, have you any idea how this lens will perform with one of the Canon tele converters? Greetz from the Netherlands Ps. I love the scenery :)

I haven’t tried it with a converter but remember that it will x the aperture by the tele amount too so you’ll end up with a very slow lens

I see, well I miss the extra reach. So thinking buying the Sigma 150-600 or the extender. Will do some more research here. I do know it makes the lens slower.@@matthewlittlewood

@@19ab59Hi ab, I’m also from the netherlands and looking to get my very first camera. I have watched ao many videos and leaning towards the canon r10 with this lens. Have you decided on what to get yet? I’m also interested in what camera you are using. I’m assuming a full frame as you mention the reach? The r10 has a crop sensor so the reach will be multiplied by 1.6 which effectively makes it a 160-640mm lens. As for your question, even though I have 0 camera experience I think I build quite some knowledge over the pst week and can snwer your wuestion. The tele concerters have a huge impact on the aperture of the lens, combined with this lens at 1.4x you’re looking at F11 on the long end and F16 with a 2x. From what I have seen, this is really really bad. So wouldn’t recommend

Hi Corrie from the Netherlands😁 Well I have a R6 with the RF24-105L and the RF100-400 5.6-8. I'm aware of the fact that an extender will make to lens slower amongst other things. About the camera, it all depends on your shooting style and often comes down to budget. If budget is a thing I think and you are into birding a crop sensor could be interesting due to the magnification. Have you seen the comparison between the R10 and the R7 from Mark Wiemels on YT? To be honest it's almost impossible for someone else to make the decision for you@@Corrie50
