These crossover videos between these friends always makes me appreciate the art of photography more. All these people are at the same place with the same conditions and they all shoot different pictures with their own stylistic flair. Makes me feel good when photographers aren't trying to capture the same shot as everyone else, but their own version of it instead.

The great thing with the 100-400 besides being a stellar sharp zoom, allows points of interest in the image to be larger in the frame thus allowing much more detail where we want and need it! Wide angles have their uses but for me in landscapes less than many might imagine! Great stuff as always Nigel, thanks for sharing it with us! 👏👍

I've been watching since your very first episode. May I say, while your photos were very good, you've stepped up your game in a big way over the last couple of years? I hope someday to improve my skills as you have clearly done. In fact, you've become one of my favourite landscape photographers over the last few years. I also love that you show your entire photo much faster than others do. I always want to see the entire composition immediately and not a corner of it. Lastly, I like the work you do to get to the point. I've grown a little tired of B-Roll on some channels. OK, I sound like a complainer. I'm not. Blessed UA-cam and people like you give people like me the opportunity to watch content we love. THANK YOU, Nigel. This was a very special episode IMO. Will watch the other blokes, too, as I do. :)

It's obviously not the same class as the 100-400mm, but the 50-250mm that you can get with the Z50 might still be my favorite lens on my shelf. It's got a similar field of view and all the things you mention apply, you just get to pick out so many scenes if you've got a good vantage. It also weighs less than the water that I usually take on a hike which i appreciate.

I started saving money after this lens hit the roadmap expecting the price to be prohibitive for me. I was correct in that regard so I’ve been waiting for something else that interests me. I finally gave up and ordered a used Tamron 100-400 F mount at less than a quarter the price. It should be delivered tomorrow. I don’t expect it to match the Nikon but it will give me the extra reach I’ve been wanting.

Nigel at his best and so inspiring for our next landscape photography outings:
Walk by night to reach a great location at the right time, agile compositions with long telezoom playing with mist & changing light, and large prints at home… Perfect.
Like the drone footages as well: to add some aerial panoramas?
Editing should have been enjoyable as well, with little cropping after such great compositions, but soft proofing for several papers: to consider some matte papers here?
    Greetings 🇨🇭eric

Your cloud inversion / foggy compositions in that valley on this outing were stunning. And when you get the right location to shoot from with long lenses you can get a plethora of compositions. You almost want to have a bunch of cameras capturing different compositions since the perfect light is so fleeting.

What a superb morning. I remember it well, as I was in Wharfedale experiencing similar conditions. You have captured some of your strongest images Nigel, well in my opinion anyway. I particularly like the painterly one. I'm also a Z user and for now have bought the 2x converter to use with my 70-200 2.8. I've not had chance to properly test the converter yet, but it's reassuring to hear the 100-400 is excellent. I may be tempted too at some point. I'm up in the Langdale area all this week. There's zero chance of any mist. The weather is too changeable, but that can be exciting too. Thanks for the enjoyable video

Indeed, long lenses are a gem. I just got myself one lately and I start experimenting. It's not as straightforward as I though, I always feel that I need more in my field of view, but the process to go more simple in a composition (as exemplified by your photo with the asymmetrical tree, or the one with the tree tops in fog) is very interesting.

I’m quite sure you could get viable 16x20 prints on those smaller crops. This is a good reason for the high megapixel sensors. It’s is so nice to see your enthusiasm I’m glad you decided to live your passion it is infectious.

Wonderful Images, what amazing conditions, I guess you, Mads & James thought all your Birthdays had come at once . Totally agree with you that there were potential compositions within compositions.

Hehe Gotta love the new zoom feature that UA-cam revealed. Nigel, I can pause the video and zoom in on the images in greater detail and pick out those compositions like on that 1 meter wide print. It’s awesome!

What new zoom feature? Is this for phones or desktop? Not seeing any option to do this 🤷‍♂

@@g00nther UA-cam app on phone and tablet. I have UA-cam Premium so maybe that’s why? The new pinch to zoom feature was launched about a week ago. Works really well on high definition videos. Love it!
