Thanks for the review!...I just ordered on of these lenses based on the comments from another photographer I know, and you just confirmed I made a good choice!
I've had the 60C for about two years now and I love it to transport my camera gear when I fly and for day hikes. I am considering the 36 for photo tours where I don't need much "add on" stuff like extra jacket or food. It was good to see the two next to each other. I like that the 36 now has a removable hip belt as well, as I don't need that on shorter hikes. Nice video, thanks for that 🙂 Also: why is it such a rare thing for a backpack to have TWO sidepockets? It really surprises me, I don't want to take a tripod OR a water bottle, is that so unusual? 😅
Why!!! Hahaha Two side pockets are a friggin need!
I bought it for my R7. I'll be trying hard to tackle the noise, but that's ok.
I was just down there tonight. I can't believe how close you get to them. I definitely kept my distance. Are they not that aggressive when feeding?
I bought it for my canon 4000d but it won’t fit in 😢
It is rf
Hi, great video. I was thinking it would be more worth it. I have a Canon R10 and I want a telephoto lens for animals. I automatically thought of the RF 100-400mm. Native and with high focusing speed in addition to the low price (in my case 600 euros). On the other hand, there is the option of the sigma 150-600 contemporary, with a higher price (800 euros) + adapter (70-100 euros). What do you think is more worth it, losing those important mm in bird photography or the focusing speed in addition to perhaps other problems you have for not being Native?
Hi Matthew, I am retired and shoot Landscapes as my hobby. I use this lens with my R5 and it’s fantastic. From my experience I found sharpness at 400mm to be good. I used it on Macro shots and it works great. I also have the RF15-35 2.8 and the 24-70 2.8 which are sharper, but at a cost. I have planned the trip of life to Iceland next year and taking this lens as my third lens and leaving my 70-200 2.8 at home. Thank you for your video.
Have the best time in Iceland!! I’ve been a bunch and it’s the best! Download the windy app to keep an eye on the weather cause it’s crazy
Having most of the groundwork done in the original photo makes editing easier. There are limits to what can be done in post-processing, and the filter will eliminate a lot of work that might not turn out how we want it to.
I learnt on film so it’s ingrained to get the shot right to start.. but you litterally can’t remove reflections in post
Hi, I buy recently an r10 for replace old 1200d, I have the sigma 18-300 with adapter and I like it because I can use in every situation. Do you think rf 100-400 could be better in every situation from 100mm to 300? I have find one used for 400 swiss franc.
I didnt need this lens but found it second hand never used. And I love it! Only depends if you use Sigma as all around lens the 18-100mm could be missing. If purely as a zoom- go for it.
Thanks, yes I use sigma in all range. Is very versatile. I Think canon could be better because is only a 4x. I don't like to change lens during a travel.
@@enrico0110 Downside of 100-400 would be the lower range of 100mm. Its still pretty “zoomy”.
So your "soft" mountain photo from that beach shot can be many different things for why it's soft. It doesn't mean it's the lens, although the 100-400 is known to be softer in the higher focal range, it could be the weather, the atmosphere, haze, etc. Your praises of the lens though are spot on.
What’s Up Matthew, Im Not Educated At All On Filters… However, All My Video Content I Record Outdoords… I’m Looking For A Good VIR- ND Filter And A Polarized Lens Filter … I’m Working With A Sony A6600 My Lenses Are: Sony E16=55mm 2.8 And Sony E15mm F1.4.. Thank You
Look up the new chroma glass from Polarpro! They’re killer!
Can I trust you what ever you have said about this lens is true or canon has paid you to speak about this lens…
Hahaha I wish canon would pay me. Nah just love the lens Ps I wouldn’t compromise my values for money xx
Hi! Nice review. First actually with experience outdoor! How to you attach something like a tent on the bottom ? Cheers
Just with some rope or clips to the bottom attachments
This was helpful, thanks!
It's very obvious to me that you're gay.
I saw this recently but thinking about its performance after 2X TC,kindly update
GORGEOUS shots, Matthew! Really stunning views and great information 👏
i’m assuming this wouldn’t be good for low light situations?
Nah not ideal but for the price it’s unmatched
Appreciate the video but there's quite a bit of popping in the audio.
Yeah I’m still learning with studio video. It’ll get better
nice review but the microphone knocking in the sound is horrible.
Good video 😊
I just purchased one of these lenses and wasn't sure. Thanks for the video. I'm keeping it for sure.
What is the difference from a Tiffen Circular Polarizer filter $19.00 and a Hoya filter at $82.00? (using it with Nikon Z8 S lens ) for landscapes. Dale in Miami
Easiest way to describe it is the difference is gas station sunnies and Oakley prisms. The cheap ones will to the job but putting cheap glass in front of the nice glass of your lenses will reduce the quality
@@matthewlittlewood I purchased the Hoya for $85.00
Hey man! Just planned my first trip to banff and I’m hoping to get some great Astro stuff at Moraine lake too! I was just wondering what lens/focal length you usually end up using for this location? Much love and keep up the wonderful work :)
Usually rolling with 16-35mm 2.8 for astro.
Also do do astro up there you’ll have to ride bikes up the road cause busses don’t stay that late
Keep it up bruv! I’ll probably go shoot a local with this technique within the week!
Go get it brother!!!
Not weather sealed.
Yeah true. My bad.. still a great lens though
I think the photos with the plasticky water looks significantly worse than the original ones. So I guess I don't need this filter.
Yeah you probably dont want to use this technique then
Another awesome vid mate nice shots 🤩
What camera did you use? Really enjoyed seeing and hearing the thought process your putting into shots.
I was shooting on the 6dmkii and filming on my iPhone
Why did you choose to place the horizon line in the middle of so many of your shots? I would also suggest you to wear a mic the next time you're recording the "talking head" :) Thanks for the informative video
Yeah I didn’t plan on shooting a video down there and just had my iPhone to record. And no particular reason for middle horizon. Just felt right to me
Not able to adjust with this lens kindly help
Your camera body may need a firmware update
One day ago I was in Vegas. I am guessing you are at Armagosa Dunes.
I think so.. I kinda just drove and figured it out as I went
Great one! Good ideas and shots 👍
Thanks a lot! Stoked you enjoyed Alex
I have this lens coupled with an R7 and take photos of mogul skiing for fun / for memories of my children and its just AMAZING! Ok it's not one of the top lenses out there but for the price point I just don't see anything in this price range coming close to what I get!
Still so thrilled with this lens. And for ski photos it’s unreal being so light
Sorry, if it's not Tack sharp, that IS a deal breaker!
Fair. That was only at 400mm and according to someone that knows better it was atmospheric blur so not even the lens
100-400 is a great lens ...period.
Facts!
Just got this lens yesterday. Im a noob so im glad I chose the right one
Haha you’re not gunna be a noob for long!!
nice tips, thanks
No problem! Stoked you enjoyed it
Love Ha Ling! Kudos to you for your dedication to the shots!
Thanks so much! It’s always worth it up there but those winds never let up hey!!
Damn man, that looked cold! It was 15°c here in Southern Ontario today
It was savage but that’s half the fun of being up that peak
Cool video, you achieved to capture my attention without a second of music and pretty minimal editing so props to you!
Wow, thanks! I totally forgot to put music on that edit lol
G’day Matt Awesome vid and it goes to show how much excitement photographers have when we get that shot that we have been looking to get Can’t wait for the Aurora lights storm vid 👍
Thanks Simon! And yeah sometime I just can’t help it hahaha
Awesome Job Matt 👍 Heaps of information for everyone especially the Exposure Triangle 🙏 trying to get that awesome shot
Thanks dude. The best way to learn is just to play about and take a bunch of shots
Awesome job Matt 👍 Keep it up Absolutely love you being the Aussie larrikin that you are ☝️
Pure gold as always brother!
Love It! Some many great hacks. Keep em coming.
Judging by the beer can- you in Edmonton? One of my favourite breweries right there!
Hahaha nah but I do drink that beer a lot. I’m Banff based 👌🏻
Tissues for sure. Also plasters and some bandages. Facial blotter for taking some portraits.
Never tried the blotter but I’ll give it a crack
What size are these?
