    Every single item for my homebrew setup came from Kegland. I don't even look at any other place.

    Mine turned up today but there is no battery included. Instruction give no clue as to what battery is needed nor does it say in the battery compartment. Any clues gratefully received please?

    It would be extremely helpful to have a video on first use and how to calibrate. Do I calibrate at all three levels at the same time? Or, do I only calibrate using the solution closest to what I expect my solution to be? Do I have to keep re-calibrating, and if so when? Also, I calibrated at 4.0 because I am making a sour, but it shows as 3.6 - so way off, and I used RO water and clean containers. What went wrong? How do I fix it? There doesn't seem to be an option to adjust the calibration, so what now? If I calibrate at mid-range and try to test something that is acidic, will my readings be off? Many questions. A beginner's guide to Ph meters would be awesome. Thanks!

    I love my kegland meter! My only suggestion is you should send a small amount of the storage solution with your meters. That would be super helpful.

      Yes at the moment we sell it separately but I would agree we should probably make it included in the kit. I will talk to the others about this.

      Yah. Otherwise, your device is unusable out of the package unless you don't care about storing the probe. Then you have to order the storage solution and wait longer to play with your brew toy.

    This is my first PH meter, I've only used test strips in the past. I plan on using this to check the PH of my mash. My mash will certainly be outside of the temperature range. So my question is do I need to scoop out some of the mash in a cup and let it cool to get it within the temperature range so that I can get an accurate reading? Thanks for the help. It looks like a very well made piece of equipment.

    If you're calibration solution is reading way off, is it the solution, or the probe? How do you know what is wrong?

    Also include a sample collection container that is just a touch larger than the cap so or whatever minimum volume is needed. Containers I have kicking around are either too wide so wasted sample, or too narrow so the pen won't fit in as it gets wider... But overall, looks like a great meter!

    twice after using ive put in kcl solution, and both times leaked out and created a crust , not sure its so "water tight" . unless im doing something wrong

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  4 роки тому

      Is your o-ring in good condition. Is it possible that the KCL solution was already wet on the surface of the fitting when closed and dried out on the surface? Did the actual KCL solution drop in liquid level?

      i put distilled water in a spray bottle and spray between calibration and/or measuring , and before putting away i give it a good spray with the distilled to clean it good and shake off the excess and right in storage solution, no problems

  • @theghostofsw6276

    Why the hell wouldn't you include a small vial of storage solution with this? I just bought one of these meters, and I just know that the small bit in the sponge will dry out in no time. I'm probably gonna buggar up my probe after the first couple of uses, if it's not buggared already. Oh, and just how much storage solution is supposed to be in the cap to begin with? You're alluding to the probe being fully immersed in liquid....the unit I bought came with just a damp sponge inside the cap. Is this cap supposed to be full enough to cover the probe? Is it supposed to be stored fully immersed in liquid?

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  2 місяці тому

      You just want to wet the sponge. The solution will last a long time so it makes more sense to be a seperate purchase (if you buy 2 meters for example). We also like to keep costs as low as possible :)

    I just bought one of your PH meters, I have 2 questions, do you have to use the buffering solution in distilled water or will tap water do and do you have to calibrate with all 3 packets or being a brewer do you just need to calibrate the PH 4.0 and not use the others?

    • @KegLand

    You suggest that the unit can test mash and boiling wort, but the instructions indicate a working temp of 0-50DegC..

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  6 років тому +2

      Hello pleasure master. With any ph meter you can measure PH outside of the recommended range but twho things will happen.
      1. Your readings may not quite be as accurate
      2. The probe on the PH meter will not last as long

    Couldn't you calibrate your pH meter at the temperature you expect to mash at and that would allow you not to use ATC?

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  Рік тому +1

      It's generally a better idea to avoid heating the probe to be honest. Putting any ph meter into hot wort will really put stress on the probe so if you want the probe to last a long time i would avoid doing this.

    purchased ph meter. package includes 4 "ag13 pill type" batteries. No battery in meter. Would be simple to include battery installation in your instructions. Instructions refer to a "battery". Actually there 4 batteries.
