One thing that should be mentioned is this completely fills the keg. Many people don't like to do this so there is no chance of beer going up the gas line. Obviously a non return valve can alleviate this. Another thing I'd like to add is you can pretty much set up the same thing with two kegs or a fementer and keg with out this little unit. Just set one higher than the other, join beer post to beer post, gas to gas and it'll syphon itself. Yes it is a little slow but you can just walk away and let it do it itself. Plus is uses NO GAS. Yes this can be good for filling kegs quicker with an auto shut off but if you want it quick then you're there with the keg anyway.
Thanks for that extra tip Josh. Also another one of our customerrs suggested if you do not want to fill to the absolute top then you can tilt the keg a little toward the gas post and this will also mean the keg doesnt fill all the way to the brim. You just have to remember to lean the keg against a wall or something.
these can be purchased from www.kegland.com.au/duotight-flow-stopper.html Many of the kegland distributors also sell this product too. Distributors can be found on the website here: www.kegland.com.au/distributor/
A gas QD with a piece of hose in the sanitiser/water will work perfectly fine too. You can't walk away while the keg is filling, but pretty simple/cheap option.
@KegLand You briefly mention attaching a spunding valve after the flow stopper if using head pressure. This would be my use case, but It seems possible that some beer could get into the spunding valve (and any pressure gauge involved) using this setup. Could this cause problems for the valve/gauge? Perhaps the Blow Tie is simpler to rinse out?
That's really cool, I am actually thinking of using this as a sight glass, for when i rack from my keg fermenter to my serving keg. Thinking that i can use a duotight shut-off valve and close the valve when i start seeing trub in the sight glass. Let me know if anyone sees any issue with this!
Thanks Tim. Had of we had the time I would have banked up a bunch of legs with a manifold so you can see all the kegs fill with actual beer but we just didn't have the time.
Great idea and product. Just wondering though i thought when you filled a keg you needed to ensure that the beer level in the keg stayed below the small gas inlet pipe inside the keg. If its flowing out the top of the value would it not mean that it was above this and would that be a problem. Thanks for clarifying. Regards
I wondered this exact same thing... Didn't see anyone mentioning it so I just bought it to test it anyway, it was cheap. I have 2 different kegs, one corny and one of those "mini-kegs" with ball lock heads so I'm gonna test them both with water just to see how it all works out. I'll try to follow up this comment with my testing when I'm done. I'll probably forget though, sorry in advance 😅
I've been trying to do closed transfers from my all rounder to the keg. The keg is full of co2 and pressurized causing the flow stopper to pressurize, the ball rises and the keg doesn't full. ANyone else have this issue?

That scene at the end where it’s barely not done up and the sani goes everywhere seems pretty consistent with how transfers often go for me 😂

@@KegLand or just don’t worry about it. It’ll be fine.
Haha, "ah fk, wasnt done up" - that's me literally everytime I brew!
Would have to agree. At least it wasn't the fermenter tap this time.
Haha that’s right!
I AM SO VERY GLAD THAT I WENT WITH KEG'S!! Expensive but easier to clean and maintain rather than individual bottles. Where do I purchase one?

Being able to "walk away" (or more likely, forgetting) is exactly the whole point of this though 😁
What a great idea!
Love the blooper. 😝

Easiest solution is to have a decent amount of tubing between the Flow Stopper and the Spunding Valve!
Why do you need the spring?
Great product just used it

Have you tried using this with sankeys on a keg coupler?

Was that an adapter to go from ball lock to sankey? Where's that!?
great idea!
hahaha love the blooper
can it be used from Fermenting buckets to kegs without gas
No it would not be useful for that.
As a general guide, what head pressure do you recommend to set the blowtie to for keg transfers?
5 PSI works for me and about 12-15 in the fermenter.
Which SS disconnect do I order for a Corny?

Zero head space?
Same thing i was thinking... Hhhmmmmm and also so your gonna have you gas line in the keg with beer ? I don't know
I don’t get it either. Isn’t head space necessary for carbonation?
Would be better if you also made a 135 degree elbow for those running corny kegs .......
These are meant to be used on Corny kegs. We have a SS ball lock disconnect that comes out at a right angle.
thank you, the item did not come with instructions, I would have been lost
