I know nothing about bikes even though I cycle to work everyday, but I love watching your videos with my boyfriend. It’s so satisfying and you can tell you love what you do. Big love from Norwich 🫶
Waxed chain convert here! After years of using oil I was tired of filthy chains after even one ride, so I got a new chain then cleaned and waxed it. After 300+ miles I’ll never go back!
Great video guys. I recently bought the "big softy" brush and a sheet of frame protector patches in blue. The patches were an exact match to my Gios carbon frame colour (all Gios bikes are a fetching shade of blue , as you may be aware ) so if there are any Gios owners out there then these frame protectors are the ones you need to buy. Keep the videos coming guys , I never miss one!
Hi Bob that’s great news to hear! It’s been a massive project for us. Hundreds and hundreds of hours went into it so it’s great to hear that you’re happy. We love using the frame protectors it’s super satisfying when you find a good application for one. Thanks very much from both of us 🧡
Recently replaced my chain and decided to try waxing, looking forward to what difference it makes. Love the videos! I have definitely learned a lot from you!
Thanks for the videos. Again very consistent and dependable workflow. Make it complete and mistake proof. Such a good practice to go thru the fasteners with a torq wrench at completion. You guys also makes FD/RD indexing looks so easy but in reality it isnt. Following the standard instruction helps and only experience will tell u where to really tune to make it spot on. 😂
I switched to Squirt chain lube a few days ago and I wish I'd done it sooner. I was caught in the rain for a few hours yesterday and it still looked like new. Everything is easier to clean, the only downside is that the drivetrain is just a bit more noisy.
Been a fan of the channel for a while and love the level of service you do. If i may offer the slightest bit of constructive criticism...the channel could use some more variety in the background music. 👍
Thanks for watching for so long! We really make next to nothing from the videos and buying a variety of music is on the list but for a while off the cards. Music licensing is very expensive!🧡
It wasn’t until I saw a bike that had the tape loose that I realized that your eyes get pulled straight to the flapping ends. Tighten up that tape friends, and pay attention to the loose ends. Ask a friend to look over your bike and point out things that may look out of place, it’s a good way to bring those tiny things to light.
It is the season for chain waxing in my beloved latin America as well 😎. A question: do your detailing brushes have stiff bristles? This, as well as an inspirational coffee mug, are what I would like to order from you store (currently at Brussels, Belgium). Also, do you carry Campagnolo cables? I've read those are different.
Hi Carlos. The Detailing brushes are a medium ish bristle. In no way to stiff to use on anything but if you want them stiffer we’ve learned ourselves to cut them down. Our cables look to be the same as campagnolo but we actually don’t have them to compare with so we would recommend measuring your own ends to see if they’re the same as ours. Thanks very much for the support🧡⚙️
I use a wax-based chain lube by a company called Squirt - works really well in the summer months. I am nervous about the mess of proper waxing, so I tell myself this is a good halfway house. But you've got me wondering about my assumption now....
Trust me, the mess is little to none with real wax, i personally use molten speed wax in a crockpot and it is absolutely amazing. The most messy part is the removal of factory grease from a brand new chain, after that its smooth sailing!😅
It’s something you can try at home just as an experiment really it’s not a big commitment to give a go and we’d definitely recommend trying it to see if it’s worth it for your riding🧡
Love your videos! They are very calming and I’ve gained a great deal of knowledge watching them. What’s your take on the whole rim brake vs. disc debate? I’m very much in the camp of the 7kg bike with mechanical groupset, visible cables, rim brakes and aluminium wheels but the bike industry is moving further and further away from this. I think we reached “peak bike” in 2019/2020 and can’t see how these heavy aero disc brake bikes costing £10k+ would in any way add to my cycling enjoyment. I descended over 100,000m in the Alps last year, and never once did I wish I had “better” brakes!
Hello there I love watching your videos. I’m from Dominican Republic I live in the USA however work got me in South Korea have you done a job on seal bearings?
We personally find the Superslic cables to be the answer. They just don’t need it. So using them is to say that we don’t use any cable lubes in the shop🧡⚙️
Why don't you measure chain length to .75% or .5%? That is what my chain tool says and I have read that is the proper amount for a 11 sp chain? Thanks...
This is the general rule of thumb for chain wear: 10-speed and below: 0.75% 11-speed and above: 0.5% SRAM Flattop chains: 0.8% (as advised by SRAM) Single-speed: 1.0% Or, check with the chain's manufacturer.
Waxed chain convert here too! New SRAM chain fresh from the box, degreased and plunged in a paraffin/PTFE mixture. After drying and cooling I cracked the chain as you do with the tube clamped in the vice. Mounted the result on my S-Works drivetrain and took it for a spin… it keeps jumping on and off cogs, both front and back because it just seems to stay on top of the teeth of the cogs… just can’t figure out what I’ve done wrong. I’ve removed all excess wax and made the chain flexible but it still doesn’t work. Any ideas/tips?
That sounds like your drivetrain has worn and the new chain is skipping over the worn gears, the solution there is to replace your chains more regularly to avoid wear although it is inevitable🧡
Looks like a Draper. If you want to get a 3/8-inch square drive torque wrench yourself, make sure it's reversible (tightens both right-hand and left-hand threads, manufacturers should mention if this is possible for theirs).
This was something I’ve had in my garage for many many years and have no idea where it came from I just brought it to the shop. We’re trying to save up some money to one day get our own made in the not so far future 🧡
I don't recall ever seeing V brakes on a road bike before. Cantilever, centerpull, side pull, double pivot! Leverage is leverage and the only difference is rigidity of the arms, or lack of. The market now dictates disk brakes, because rim brakes on carbon fiber rims make no practical sense. Perhapse disks are best, but the marketeers have had their fun and profit along the way. I had been waiting for somebody to bring back mechanical drum brakes to become the next thing! Too simple and reliable though. I've been disappointed with waxed chains. It needs to be redone far too often. Single speed chains are cheap enough and no team car will ever follow me! 10 ways to mount the 1/8" width chainring also makes things last a while! Smiles per hour is the most important thing.
Yes we have no end of problem with disc brakes, most of the systems are a fundamentally flawed design and they give no adjustment out and about. We’re completely in the disc brake master race!🧡
@Bikespeeds my quest is to find a lube that can cope with all conditions but doesn't grab the dirt. Very sandy my route so it kills drive trains. Currently having great success with Wolftooth WT1. Have some Dumonde Tech1 to try after that.
Great service, nice to see an owner who had his tyre logo aligned correctly 🙌😎🇫🇮
Haha yes it saves us a job!🧡⚙️

Great service for this TT bike. The rider is ready for the next race. Wonderful job Lee.

Great job as usual - good watch 👍
Yes this bike had clear sweat zones! Thanks for watching🧡
Great video as always guys. Made it look real nice.

Another top service! Nice job.
Thank you very much!🧡⚙️
Usual quality as always guys ! Love a giant ! I ride a giant alx mtb ( bomb proof ) in my opinion ! Keep up the good work 👍
If we get one in we’ll do a video. Enjoy it🧡⚙️
I live in a relatively dry city. Ride wax exclusively because it's a lot less work than oils and the drivetrain stays clean the whole time!
If you’re somewhere dry there’s really no reason not too! It’s far superior 🧡⚙️

Enjoying the vids! Recently bought a chain waxing kit so will be going down the route very soon. Looking forward to trying it out.

Correct! Sounds like your bikes are kept very nice 🧡
Hmm🤔🤨 Last time we asked for more TT and Triathlons bikes. Ah well, this will suffice!💯💥
Im using the Squirt dry lube and it works pretty well, no more degreasing.
Awesome!
Must be TT season with these bikes coming in! For me it's MTB and summer CX season
Yes we actually had a local TT race last weekend that had a big build up in the shop🧡
Ill have to get myself an ultrasonic cleaner one day for sure.
Lovely work as always.
To us they’re an essential tool, thanks for watching🧡⚙️
That was awesome
Thanks very much for watching! We appreciate the support🧡
Love a waxed chain, i use squirt lube, lasts 200k's easy to wipe and reapply all weather is a dream for it :)

always wondering if its worth upgrading with a waxed chain.......
Try it because it’s relatively cheap to try and you can always go back🧡

@@Bikespeeds Pleased to hear that! Keep up the good work!
Ahhhhh perfect 👍

Love your videos. But what was the powder you coated the chain and cassette in?
Molybdenum powder🧡⚙️
Great video! Are 28mm tires ok for this bike or 25mm is maximum
Hello there I love watching your videos. I’m from Dominican Republic I live in the USA however work got me in South Korea have you done a job on seal bearings?

If you don't mind me asking what was that powder that you apply to the chain and sprockets?
I would love to know this as well please 👍 Great video and attention to detail.
Molybdenum powder🧡
Did you purposedly omit tho explain how the rear derailleur cable is routed through the chain stain?
What was the dust you brushed on the waxed chain and rear cassette
Molybdenum powder 🧡⚙️
❤
Love the videos. Can |I ask where did you get the flexi hose for the torque wrench from please
Hi Barry, unfortunately I have no idea. It’s from a set I bought maybe 30-40 years ago!🧡
@@Bikespeeds thanks for the reply
Silca........ Best way to wax a chain

Do you this bike compared to modern bikes? Worth buying 2nd hand if in good condition?
Definitely a great bike!🧡
Hello, love your videos. How come we don't have a new one this week ? Hope everything's ok.
We are back tonight! Simon was unwell last week but we’re back to it now🧡
@@Bikespeeds health is more important, take your time.
What is that brake?? Mini v brake??
MINI V Brakes
Would you recommend waxing an MTB trail bike chain?
Some people do it but having never ridden a mountain bike I couldn’t advice either way!🧡⚙️

New chain usually takes 50 to 100km to "bed" in.
That sounds like your drivetrain has worn and the new chain is skipping over the worn gears, the solution there is to replace your chains more regularly to avoid wear although it is inevitable🧡
I prefer Squirt wax based lube, less hassle
Who is the manufacturer of your large torque wrench?

Why don’t you remove the pedals? If the threads are not regressed at least once a year they are almost impossible to get off.
Waxing is the best thing to do to save money on parts
Absolutely!🧡
