Those two missing kwans...we gotta keep on eye on those guys (or ladies) secretly training and disappearing !! until next topic Tuesday sir we will keep our kicks high and secret kwan info on the down low... :) thanks again for postin
Great video. Good job summarizing the history concisely. Your background is really interesting. Cool that your teacher maintained his Tang Soo Do roots while still adopting and participating in World Taekwondo. I don’t know of anyone else that’s done this.
Thankyou for answering indepth, it was a long week waiting for topic Tuesday! and yes the book "A killers Art" was a great read and I own that one myself, it might of had my answer although on the shelf it doesn't help topic Tuesday :) and getting the info out...I will forsurely watch the video you recommended and put forward...those old photos from Korea are so interesting... Speaking of Korea and possibly culture do u find squeeking in a little life lesson sayings or discussions in the dojang from Buddhism to be effective or are students not interested, without speaking to much on religion/politics causeing issue ofcoarse. I guess just saying life lessons or teaching them monk style like in the movies once in a while... do you have any favorite books that really changed your thoughts on things or had a positive life impact from the Eastern culture of Confucianism, Daoism or Buddhism? This kind of curves from tae kwon do specifically although most schools have student creeds and as you know we should aim to develop mind and body with martial arts.
I train in a dojang of Jidokwan lineage. One difference I've noticed is the way we use the chambering arm in momtong makki. Rather than reaching forward with the forearm of the chambering arm, we start the chamber with the forearm across the chest.
Hello, for this comeing topic tuesday could you review the current point system the WT is now using for sparring and or pattern? what do you look for specifically while judgeing patterns or marking for testing? I'm aware 1st dan and up are well educated on what to look for by then, or should be, but I think it would be a nice topic for a change for beginners to have something to listen to and put in the back pocket even though doboks don't have pockets :)
What's the difference between ITF and WTF? Also my taekwondo school I went to, when bought by karate school, the only real diffence I could see was different kata, we called kata patterns. For me tkd and karate seemed the same, and my taekwondo master went and opened a karate school. Are they interchangeable?
@@tkdguide well they usually don't let 1st Dans teach because there are so many of them and 5th Dan isn't easily obtainable hence better quality of instruction
Before anyone gets upset, I see that my list of seven original kwans is incomplete and there were actually nine… which isn’t as cool as seven…
