I appreciate the testing info! I appreciate you doing this and passing it on. Without this we just have to rely on the assumption that ALL companies are telling the truth and that the steel of our blades is exactly where it needs to be to perform as advertised.
I know its pricy to keep that test(one time I wanted to send my civivi odium and ganzo fh922 made in D2 as they are insane hard and I wanted to see why, and pricing took me by surprise) so I really appreciate that you do it, as it's super informative and just fun to watch.
These videos help alot of us from buying sh#t,I really appreciate that you do this but I can't financially help at the moment but when I'm back on my feet I sure will, your bad humour and the fact you actually appease alot of budget knives I really appreciate and enjoy 😊
Kind of interesting that a lot of K110 blades I see are on the softer side than other D2s. Maybe Bohler's suggested heat treat errs that way in their white papers which is followed more often than not. I have a Bugout in 20CV that has some edge issues from time to time. I don't run into the edge chipping out when sharpening, but I tend to lose the keen edge faster than I think should happen, leaving me with a "working edge" (feeling like a large carbide steel like D2). It also took me FOREVER to get the reprofile done to 15 degrees; with diamond stones feeling like they're skating over it rather than biting into it making me assume the HRC is on the high side, but perhaps not.
You do us a solid with those tests. What I've learned is that even high price brands have huge variations and sometimes bad heat treat, and that buying a knife is often a lottery.
if 20cv is m390 , ish.... that xtouc looks pretty good in comparison to your crooked river. cost wise any. can buy 2 xtoucs . i have a crooked river, and that xtouc, lol.

Hogue claims their RSKs are 61-62 RC these days. They did the same with their Magnacut. Their initial release was around 61, now they claim it's up like 63-64. I have a new 20CV Mini RSK I'd send in for testing, would be interested to know if Hogue's claims of improved harnesses are true.
Would be interesting to see what spydercos cpm-20cv hits at. I'd be shocked if spyderco had 20cv at 58rc in any of there newer releases. Definitely not surprising that any other company hits that low. Also knife works states that the 20cv from Houge is at 61-62 rc, definitely missed the mark on that one. But we all know that Houge isn't running the steel very hard, and that includes the magnacut they claimed to be at 63-64 rc.
I’d like to see what some of these clones are. I know they probably aren’t what they are marked as, but the couple that I have gotten were a lot harder to sharpen than 8cr. Some are probably D2, but I tried leaving salt on one of them for about 3 days, and no corrosion developed. So it would be interesting to actually know. Especially since they would be more likely to lie about it than most of the ones you are testing. Most of the sites tell you that they are marked one thing, but they are actually something else. I bought a bug out clone that is marked S30V and the site didn’t state otherwise, so I messaged the owner and asked him what the actual steel is, and his response was S30V. Is he lying to me? I assumed that he was, but the steel hasn’t corroded, and it wasn’t the easiest blade to sharpen.., Also, I’d like to know if Twosun has gotten any better with there M390...

Great video - buuuut. They don't temper pocket knives, only harden them (blade length related). Tempering creates spring steel. Great for swords and machetes, but not pocket knives
With all do respect All blades are tempered. To what point depends on the kind of blade /application. But you do indeed , temper a pocket knife. Ever had a custom made or made anything ? Idk production like that but I know blade making atleast to some degree not a master by no means , but someone lied to you. A blade can and will legit shatter if dropped before the tempering process. In its quenched / hardened state it is almost like glass hardness . Deff needs tempered no matter the application. Depending on type of steel and blade will determine what that tempering process looks like but yes your pocket knife has been tempered.

I have a ritter hogue, I don't know about the hardness, but both omega spring broke very easily less than 2 months of owning it, and now i know from you that it is soft, very disappointed
A damn shame that the 20CV Ritter Hogue was a measly 58 HRC. Hogue simply SUCKS on their heat treats. I'm still pissed at them for the crap Magnacut Deka I bought. Soft pot metal blade. Hogue wouldn't even replace the blade even though it won't take an edge. They couldn't even get it to take one. Sent the junk back to me. Far better knives out there than anything Hogue makes.

Wish there was a Reate produced knife in there. Thanks LTK
It’s coming in the next batch
@@tacticalcenter8658 Can you please email me and refer me to the data behind what you’re saying so that I can confirm it ? You seem to have knowledge that’s not available anywhere else that I can find.
@@tacticalcenter8658 I appreciate it. I’m definitely interested. I got blasted by Bestech several years ago because I reported their M390 HRC as subpar. So I’m getting heat from both sides. I’d be great to have more information on all these issues that you’re discussing.
@@tacticalcenter8658 Sounds great 👍
Anyone know what happened to OUTPOST 76 ?
I’ve got him doing some cutting performance tests on several knives.
Why are my comments deleted?
Could you check steel on these M390 knives from ali?

These are noname knives, but are sometimes known as Godfur Radiation. They look like from the same designer. The build quality is excellent. They have different opinions - some say it's a real M390 just low hardened, others say it's a D2 with a fake marking.
If you have some to test please send them to me. Thanks
@@tacticalcenter8658 Thx for info :) It is still quite a mystery why no company or designer admits to these knives.
@@LuvThemKnives We spoke via e-mail. Thank you! :)
@@tacticalcenter8658 Can you please email me and give me the information that confirms what you are saying ? I’d like to confirm this. I’ve requested this from you on several occasions and I haven’t received any response or information. Otherwise this is just hearsay. Luvthemknives@gmail.com
