    what not just use like a 3/4 sheet of plywood cut it like 20x20 and then do your 4 edges ?

    When you glue up all the slats, what are those big clamps you have them resting on? They seem perfect to glue up slats like this.

      Bar clamps from Harbor Freight! They're great for gluing up panels and they're only $12-$14 a piece

    Was just looking to do something like this myself for my ottoman. Great job. Did you make the box joint jig yourself?

      Thank you! We love it and it's still going strong! I did make the box joint jig but I copied the concept from Steve Ramsey, here's the video I followed; ua-cam.com/video/AiPzFNsuN2k/v-deo.html

    Looks nice.
    But Im confused about why you would design the lip on top with an undercut facing the inside?
    Just going to make it a lot harder to clean up a spill?

      Thanks! I'm not sure I thought that far into it to be honest. I just liked the look and so far spills haven't been an issue. That's a good point though, I could use some clear silicone or something to seal it up in the future

    What tool do you use to make tongue and groove cuts?

    • @SamMacyDesigns
      @SamMacyDesigns  2 роки тому

      Good question, I actually didn't use any tongue and groove for this project. I just cut the boards straight and glued and clamped them together. It's still a very strong joint

    Nice woodworking project! The video was hard to watch because the music is annoying. Repeating the same music as often as you did is not a good idea.

    Where did you get your box joint jig?

      I made this one a couple years ago. I think I just followed a random UA-cam tutorial and it seems to work pretty well!
