The bigger problem is the way things change and how fast they change. 5 years from now the entire concept may be cut, whereas the diesel engine may have gotten more complicated but the basics really are the same.

I agree, but I don't think the infrastructure for every truck to be electric won't be there in our lifetime, plus you have to bear in mind with the amount of cars they want to be electric, again infrastructure is the issue, the way forward is always going to be electric/diesel hybrid, this is why I'm watching whats going on with Edison Trucks. That's going to be the real way to go for at least the next 50 years minimum.

I agree. Mass otr adoption I do not think I will live to see. Hydrogen mabye. I do think intercity and pickup/delivery we may.
      Battery technologies need to improve.

@MatzkeDiesel I agree, Battery Tech has to change, here in the UK we've had this push to Nrt Zero, and Buses have been electrified in London and just this year we've had three buses burn down with the batteries over heating and going thermo, but even here it's been proved that the current infrastructure can't keep up with the demand now, and nobody is allowing for the Infrastructure to be updated, with Hydrogen I think the idea of driving what is tantamount to a giant bomb around is worrying a lot of drivers, also we've had ferry companies and the channel tunnel saying that until better testing is done they won't allow hydrogen vehicles on them.
