Now that the campaign to reconquer the C-segment - one of the main goals in the Renaulution strategic plan - is well under way with the Megane E-Tech electric, Arkana and Austral success stories, it’s time for Renault to make its next move on the D-segment. The first one was a reboot of the family-friendly All-new Espace; the second is a completely new and daring model: The All-new Rafale.
Now that Renault has revamped its arsenal of technology for hybrid powertrains, chassis, and electronic equipment, it could no longer deprive its customers of a vehicle born and bred for driving pleasure - or deprive the brand of a new flagship. The All-new Renault Rafale is both.
Rafale is a French word that evokes wind, and is also an aeronautical reference. Aviation has played an important part in Renault’s history: the Caudron-Renault Rafale, which flew at a record-breaking 445 km/h in 1934, is only one example.
The All-new Renault Rafale is the first production vehicle entirely designed according to the new visual language that Gilles Vidal has brought in as head of Design Renault. It is ushering in a new era in Renault’s design: it is visionary, daring, perfectly in tune with its time and tailor-made for a period when everything is moving ever faster and only avantgarde models will stay attractive throughout their life cycle.
The All-new Renault Rafale also features up-to-the-minute connectivity and a 200 hp E-Tech full hybrid powertrain that is as efficient as it is frugal and uses recycled materials.
It was born to take driving pleasure to ever new heights and will be enhanced with technological breakthroughs that will rank it high up in the high-performance automotive universe with a new E-Tech 4x4 300 hp powertrain.
Renault has crafted its DNA around optimal driving pleasure - but not the self-centred kind: pleasure that the driver enjoys alongside passengers in a “car for life and living.” Driving pleasure is a priority, but never at the expense of passengers, who have plenty of space and amenities to enjoy as well. I actually love the fact that the trunk has not got a flat floor, it makes it a lot easier to secure the shopping bags and actually stops stuff sliding back and banging against the hatch door. What a beautiful car. Cannot wait for it to arrive in Gibraltar next year, already saving up for it.

The futuristic design, especially the sunroof, is truly innovative. It's already been applied to other cars, but innovation is still innovation.
Very nice. Have to congratulate French manufacturers. Last years they are producing really nice looking and high quality cars. Completely different is happening with German manufacturers...

It's rly beautiful. I wish they'd put heated seats in the back for the top version. Also harman/kardon logos in the back would be a lovely detail.

They have significantly improved reliability for a long time now. I have a Renault from 2016 (Megane IV), and there hasn't been any mechanical or electrical issue. Regular maintenance has been done on time, with over 110,000 kilometers on it. I can confidently say that its mechanics and engineering are superior to some other premium German brands.
@@silviupopovicci reason i’m wondering, i had a 2020 clio and it wouldn’t start after 30k. And lots of problems with the infotainment system
I can say the opposite. I had Renault Kadjar and from the moment it turned 5 years old it started breaking down. Both LED headlights, clutch and multimedia broke so it is definitely not reliable.
As far as I know, the led headlights can turn yellow, that's true, the clutch is normal depending on use, it changes at some point, the multimedia system, I agree, it shouldn't have broken, but still in 5 years to another the German brand, you did a lot more things from your own experience. Aspects related to the engine where if there are problems, is it serious, oil consumption, EGR, small components of the suspension system, spark plugs, etc.@@DjordjeSusa555

I hope they bring it to the UK. We miss out on several models

I like the opaque sunroof - it would help with heat, but retain light in the cabin.
It's an opacifying glass roof called "Solarbay". It's made in collaboration with the French company Saint Gobain and it can become opaque but also lighten electrically with a simple button. The effect is incredible.

I remember seeing color pad fabric in the doors on the old volvo xc40, but for Renault is a first nicely done! Still The Cupra Tavascan as also a great exterior and a more unconventional interior comparing to this Rafale, still a excelente car, well done !

The seats can't be folded from the trunk? Espace and Austral can so that, old Espace, Kadjar abd Talisman could do that, last gen Laguna could do that. At thia price point an absolute no-go!
I have a kadjar right now,a used to drive a megane iv for 5 years, i folded the seats 3-5 times only within 70000km. also you can order almost everything with delivery options.Maybe the statistics shows that most of people doesnt need that function.With a trunk door opening that high,foldable seats could be very practical and easy to load with longer and heavier stuff.
@@bzasafi well, my wife owned a Kadjar, I owned a Talisman. Both had rear seats that were foldable from the trunk. My Model Y also has that functionality. I personally need it every week at least once due to my job.
As I said, the Austral can do it, the new Espace (that should have been called Grand Austral because that's what it is) can do it and the Rafale rides on the exact same platform. So what the actual fuck?
I saw the Rafale and thought "I'd consider buying that if someone would crash into my Tesla...maybe...eventually" but that missing feature alone would keep me from ordering it.

Renaults are sexy. But they since they moved Megage in the upper class there is not much left in the compact class except Clio. I really wished Renault would start making city cars and not only these tanks that cost a lot of money to maintain, absolutely see no sense of driving such cars in the cities.
Renault is dead. Their cool and innovative cars are gone and they only want these stupid SUVs now. Such a shame…

This is how the new Peugeot 3008 should have looked. I don't know what menagers from Peugeot are doing, and why they stopped working with Gilles Vidal because he was doing great things with Peugeot design. What Matthias HOSSANN is currently doing with Peugeot design - especially with the new 3008 is not the good direction. I really love Peugeot and I'm not happy with Hossan - his work is not good and time will show that. Congratulations to Renault for such a beautiful car, and for recognizing the man for the right position.

Renault Rafale is a beautiful car that looks great. However, it bears a striking resemblance to the Urus. Gust instead of Urus if the Urus remains inaccessible why not. It's clever, isn't it?

And somr basic remarks yo Renault no RWD cars, steerong wheel angle far from vertical position is wrong so driver has problem on curves.
Most models have to small engines.
Very telling that they all hide the excaust pipes these days, when not too long ago they couldnt be big and shiny enough, sometime there were even two of them... Why is Renault even bothering to issue new ICE models, I thought they were all about EVs?? I couldnt care less about this..

Rear looks heavy fats not in keeping with the light fluid design why fo you need a grille on an ev. it looks dated old fasnioned. Like Renault dont know how to design an ev for the future. It not pretty at all

Renault is part of the Renault-Nissan group, along with Mitsubishi, Dacia and a few others.
Peugeot is part of Stellantis, which owns Jeep, Citroen, Opel, Dodge, Chrysler and many more.
Unfortunately it will, like any other Renault, fall apart after 5 years. Nice design but quality is shit.
