    Very nostalgic operator for me, I remember fond trips to London on SWT as a kid in the mid-late 2000s. Now finding myself commuting on SWR, so I’m thoroughly looking forward to next week’s instalment!

    I said it last time and I will say it again: Blue Train Red Door Supremacy!
    If for some reason the government decide to put the new South Western livery to a vote I'd be voting for that.

    A video on First ScotRail is needed. Also as a goodbye you should do a video on SWR and post it the day they loose their franchise in may

    Mind you I really liked South West Trains because I liked the colour and livery on their trains including the Class 455, Class 458, Class 158, Clsss 159, Class 450, Class 444 and previous trains including the Class 456 and Class 170.
    And not forgetting the Class 707 that previous had South West Trains logo before Stagecoach lost the franchise and Sourh West Trains was renamed and rebranded as South Western Railway in 2017.

    Smashing video! SWT were a brilliant operator in my eyes and bring back many fun memories. They maintained all their stock very well, especially despite Class 458 troubles, their livery variations were fantastic, and they did an unbelievable job with the refurbishments of the Class 455s. I can't really say anything bad about them.

      I must say SWT do seem like a huge upgrade ocmpared to what we have now - it's a shame they didn't win the 2017 franchise. However, one upside of SWR is we have the 455s still!

      @TrainLifeGB 4 дні тому

      if only 701s had decent seats, those seats are bad. And the window alignment is also poor, and yet SWR say that they have some positive reviews on them?!

    I started at CLJ in 2012 as a gateline assistant then went upstairs to the platforms as an RO2 then it was a nice station like a big family once SWR took over management and team leaders became bad my health took its toll and I left to be honest I’m glad I don’t work there anymore ,but as for working for SWT to me was good the plans for more 707s if they won instead of the fiasco of the 701 units ,new 707s could of Been in place by 2019 and looked great in the red metro livery.

    As someone who used to regularly travel on SWT back in the day I see them as one of the few successes of privatisation, and still think that handing the franchise over to First was a very poor decision.

    Very good series but, unless I've missed something, you haven't set out your criteria for judging success or failure. Commercial success or failure may be very different from the passenger experience.

    • @Vanmanyo
      @Vanmanyo  6 днів тому

      No you are correct I have never set out my criteria for what a 'failed' train company is. Mostly because I think it's very hard to come up with one! My opinions on what count as failed franchises are merely my opinions on whether the company was seen as good or not. The series as a whole is more for you, the viewer, to come up with a judgement and set out your own criteria for what counts as a failure! Some people would deem SWT a failure for not replacing their oldest stock whilst withdrawing the 458s; whilst others would hail the 455 refurbishment as a success (for example!). I hope you understand my logic here :)

      Yeah we need to get rid of SWR

    • @TrainLifeGB
      @TrainLifeGB День тому +2

      Oh if only SWR didn't exist, then the 455s and 456s would have so much longer left. Even the 707s would still be here, and the 458/5s wouldn't have to be converted.

    • @Andrewjg_89
