F250 Super duty steering upgrade. Complete!

- This truck had absolutely terrible steering when I was on Ultimate Adventure. That has all changed after Many hours and quite a few dollars. The steering is finally up to par for a legit trail rig, as well as a good street driver. Follow along as I battle it out with ol' Louis in the final rounds of steering modification!

😀😀😀100K WOOHOO!!! Dave's kicking ass! 😀😀
Thanks!! Couldn’t get there without all the support
Dave is doing awesome. Keep up the great content.
Yes he is. Loving the content
"this isn't good, but I'm not stopping" story of my life lol
I call it bad ideas, great follow through
Come for the wheelin', stay for the nerdy poetry.
Congrats on 100k! Next stop 1m!
Haha.. I can’t believe I left that in there
@@thedirtheadshed it makes you more human, so that the little people can relate.
You’re getting it dialed in every time you work on it/wheel it. Gotta love the process! The super duty is a great platform, STOKED ON 100K!! Congrats man keep up the hard work!
Thanks so much! I agree. It is a great starting point . But definitely not perfect yet
Such a cool truck. The fab work is cool. Looks like it's almost perfectly dialed. Next?? Drive the crap out of it, and enjoy it. Good job
Good ideas!
Here comes your 100k Play Button!!
Stoked. Just got the email to get it shipped
Yes! Louis ViTen pay off! I love this build so much!
We have a love/hate relationship
Boneyard, ftw!!
Stash a bike or 2 in there, and roadtrip it down here and enjoy our trails!
I would love to!! I’ll bring a bike with me to the gambler 500
That drive over the camera was great 👍
Haha: it’s the simple tricks that keep it fun
Rad build and super interesting to see a full size long bed work the trails!
It’s a lot of rig!
The start up sound of. 3 valve v10 is amazing!
Truck is turning out awesome. Can't wait to see what it can really do once you finish the rear suspension.
Same! Thanks
Following for assorted SuperDuty content, as a 2002 Excursion owner.
Those are great rigs
Congrats on the 100k Dave. I say it just about every time I watch one of Your videos. You have a great deal of knowledge and talent. You deserve a nother 100m & I'm sure You will get them too. I won't miss any of Your content that I can promise. Thank's for all the hard work, Two to four jobs at once. Filming, fabing, editing & hosting. 😳😁👌👏👏👏
I appreciate the support. It’s a hustle, but I kinda like it
Nice! Thanks for all the explanations on why you're fabricating stuff. I would have never realized the track bar bump stop would move without you welding in a stop on each side. I've been trying to learn all I can, having never really messed with 4x4s. Learning the why to do something is just as important as how. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
Glad you’re getting something from all of it. Have a good weekend
The buzzin almost dozen sounds good climbing around the rocks, that area does have some good off road and dirt bike trail riding areas.
It is a good sounding motor!
Definitely needs T-tops, a camper shell and full walk through. 😂
This truck is so damn cool! I love seeing a full-size long bed put in solid work.
Congratulations on 100k!
T tops?? Hadn’t even crossed my mind yet
Congratulations on the 100k! You make such awesome content. A bit of everything, and it's always rad.
just drive the stuff and enjoy .you probably know more about it than most people watching so do what you think best .
I want to do another round of mods. Then it’ll probably go up for sale
@@thedirtheadshed something like a rooftent is your best bet for making it more salable ,overlanding being so popular, or did you already do that .
Ditch the OEM mounts and do a 3 link. I know you’re probably sick of working on the front end but that’s the final piece. Love the build.
I know what I need to do.. but you’re right, I’m tired of working on it
Louie Rocks!! I am happy for you that he is finally getting sorted out! He is a cool, unique ride that is worth all that work you have put into it. SWEET!!
Cool truck Dave. I would like to see this truck and mom’s spaghetti out together to compare off road eventually. Nice work
That would be hard to drive both
Love the evolution of this truck build, just killer stuff! Congrats on 100k, keep on building all this rad stuff!
I'm not an Fword guy. But, i am impressed with Louis! Great work as always. Watched Roadkill Garage. Now the muscle truck really kicks ass😊😊
Oh i just noticed 100k!! Congrats 🎉
Thanks for the support all around!
The new Muscle Truck episode was pretty awesome!
Good to see you working on a 4x4 with springs and shocks. Those look undersized, diameter wise. But at least they are coil-overs.
Thanks
Love this thing, especially for being a Mopar guy myself. Been following all the cool fab work and learning more. I admit I’m a little concerned about those fittings on the steering ram looking low and vulnerable, but I know you had other clearance issues with them going up. Awesome build Dave!!
Yeah. I’ll get back and make a proper skid plate to protect that
Love this truck. I think it needs a sweet custom flatbed or tray bed with better departure angle and lots of beefy storage compartments.
We are on the same page
Check out what they do at Basil’s garage. He’s done a few full size rigs with trays and they are sick.
If you do go this route, bob it too
I feel your pain both in the knuckles and the bleeding issue. Recently installed a PSC ram assist and once it was all buttoned up fought it for days trying to get it to bleed out. Process of elimination finally discovered the brand new pump I put on it was bad. I had replaced the working factory pump with way to many miles to not replace while I had everything apart. Massive waste of the PSC fluid also. Oh well I that's all part of it I guess.
It is a part of it. Yeah. I wasted like 4 quarts of sweptco as well
That's badass that he's at the ORV park near me, maybe I'll see him out there once I get my mud truck done lmao
Get to workin on it!
@thedirtheadshed I'm trying to lmao, just got a few things taking my money currently so I can't fix its little issues, it's a 77 ramcharger with a 360 and a 4 speed manual on 3/4 ton axles on 38s
Love the truck, Dave. Louis ViTen and Mom's Spaghetti are Sooper Groovy!
Great trucks!
Luis vi ten is an excellent rig, always happy to see it getting some use!
Take it out on a wheelin/camping adventure and enjoy your hard work
I need to. I may ditch the roof top tent. Don’t see myself using it often
@@thedirtheadshed it does look neat up there but you could ditch it and just run a swag and have extra storage up there
Love it. I have an excursion I want to put a ram assist on. To do some wheeling like this. Also want to four link the front also.
Psc has the steering parts. Superlift makes the suspension.
Honestly you own and are building my two dream trucks. One plus size an one mini 😎❤
You have good taste
Love Louis ViTen! Love mom's spaghetti, would even like to see more MazGrande! Just keep doing Dave!
I’m hustling!! Thanks
100k! Congratulations, thanks for sharing and everything that goes into it, especially pulling double duty with a full time job. The variety is rad and I love to see the channel grow for ya, best wishes and take care.
Haha! been chasing down funky steering issues on my Excursion with full Lee Steering ram assist system. Also took me FOREVER to bleed. Been through 3 Saginaw pumps in a year, all new large hi flow hoses, new box, pump, cooler, filter, ported hydroboost . Dumb thing still whines a bit, no air bubbles and steering is meh. Wish I had my OEM steering system back😂
So frustrating!
That Louis ViTen is getting to be one hell of a nimble 250!
I have a tool called an air lift thats intended for drawing a vacuum on a cooling system to remove trapped air but ive found that it works great for power steering or hydraulic throttle systems as well. Find one with a big rubber cone that you can seal off the filler cap opening on your reservoir and you’re done in a minute
That might be the ticket
I also have one thats simpler and comes with just the big rubber cone. Found a listing on amazon for a Uview 5505000. I can pull all of the air out of the p/s system and fill it up and run it in one shot. Some of the newer fords are tough to get the air out without it. That foam takes hours to break down after you shut it off and it’s whining again!
Can't wait for the rear springs and track bar notch
Same!
Keep building them ford's Dave !!!!
Will do! Thanks
Louis needs some Dave-built rear suspension!!
It has some wild rear suspension. I just need to fine tune it
I kinda wanna build the same truck lol
Definitely set up that rear suspension and take this thing to MOAB
It would be fun out there
Build a skid for the ram cylinder fittings.
Definitely
Check out Webb's Offroad for his assist clamps. They are knurled and double sheer. Never had one slide or fail.
I’ll check it out, thanks!
Congrats on 100k!!!
I've been wondering about those heim boots. Living in Ohio, my first thought has been to throw them on all exposed heims and pack them FULL grease(rust belt life is incredibly annoying lol).
Congrats on 100k Dave! its funny how the smallest cuts and bumps on your hands hurt so much more lol
Thanks so much. It goes away fast though..
@@thedirtheadshed that is true, usually after a few deep breaths, and in your case a nice song lol
Truck is awesome Dave, maybe it needs some underbody protection, thanks for sharing, I'm a huge fan 🙂
It definitely needs that!
Enjoyed seeing you on recent "Roadkill Garage" episodes
Thanks! I just got the discovery app. I need to watch it
Love the progress. I want planetary axles on my 450. On my second gear set up front.
Not really sure what you mean
@@thedirtheadshed I run 44s and have the stock super 60 up front. The gears are weak/to small. The d80 is not much of an upgrade. Same weight rating and only 20% stronger gear set. The planetary gear 9tons can handle the weight of the f450, and the torque of the the 6.7 diesel due to the planetary gears taking the stress off the diff gears. Also I can get a better gear ratio. I currently have 6.17:1 and would rather have closer to 5.65:1 which is available in the 9 ton. Also they come central inflation ready and with air lockers.
Your the best guy to SAS a Hardbody and film it
We will see. There is something else in line first
Rocks are righteous.
Yeah! Cool little playground
100k is awesome Buddy!!! Congrats 🎊 Keep the rad videos coming 👍🏻
Thanks so much
just watched the muscle truck roadkill ep. was great to see you on there again! hope to see you on there more often. or maybe even your own thing again 👀
Thanks! It was fun. Not sure they have a spot for me at Motortrend anymore. We will see
Continuous art piece for the win my dog. Tie rod bump stop for the w!
That is gonna leave me stranded if i don’t address it
I miss dirt everyday you guys and roadkill and top gear where my early teen years
I miss it too
Congrats on 100k!! You are earning it! Thanks for the diverse entertaining content!
Thanks for watching and interacting
Great job. So very nice to have a big project work the way you designed it. Keep those videos coming. Thanks
It was a relief!
@@thedirtheadshed Congrats on 100k subs. You deserve it. Your videos are full of design inspiration and great follow-through. Thanks again.
Nice to see it back in Action! Congrats on 100,000 subscribers!
Thanks so much. Yeah.. Louis needed out of the shop
That trip to the ORV must have been in the morning on a weekday - I've never seen a Washington ORV that empty!
Yeah. It was yesterday morning (Thursday)
Congratulations on 100k! Well deserved for awesome content!
Thanks so much
Great video once again and congrats on the 100k Dave! Keep killing it.
Thank you for being on UA-cam cause there's so much stupid crap know days I'm happy me and my boy can still learn even though he wants me to build a trailer for his quad that I can't do so gotta get to learning ty Dave for your knowledge
Right on. Sounds like you have a project lined up
Great rig for a Goliath class truck ... The front bumper and skid need attention of some sort. Let's wheeeeeeelll!!
They are on their way out
Congratulations on the 100k dave! You deserve much more. This channel is so good with no bs
Thanks!! Tell your friends!
@@thedirtheadshed I have been
Won't be long you will have Louie just the way you want him
It’s getting there! It might go up for sale at some point
up next.... short bed conversion 😊
I would to that route before bobbing the long bed
100K. Have a coffee man, cheers!!! Like button energized.
Stoked. Thanks for the support
Congratulations on 100k!!! You have so many cool rigs I don't know what my favorite is anymore. Louis ViTen is pretty awesome, love seeing the vids. Gotta admit I have a soft spot for that little 'Stang. 340 stroker swap. 😅
I appreciate it! I’m kinda scattered right now! But it’s good. No shortage of stuff to work on
Heck yeah!!! Been patiently waiting for the next ViTen video! Too rad!!!
Hope you liked it
@@thedirtheadshed Love it! Redo's are always a headache. Way to push through it!
I get hung up on the idea of a 4-link with the idea that it binds on purpose. Do you like the stability it gives you? Are you worried about joint life? I love the truck and the content has been great. You don't need a camera guy. The vlog style is perfect.
I like that it was a simple bolt on. But i would never build one from scratch.. 3 link all the way
This time on the Dirthead Shead, the rock garden at 7 mile ORV. LOL
Shhh. Top secret
@@thedirtheadshed lol. The only people that place is secret to is those who have never lived in the area. Lol
This kind of reminds me of the episode of ded where you guys cut the top off that wrecked Ford and then drove it over the rocks. Except they were covered in snow 😂
That was so fun
I felt the knuckle pain in my soul.
So much hurt
Right on Dave! Keep it rocking and we'll check in. Go big red!
It’s nice to have it out of the shop
Tackle a big item. An congratulations on the success of your channel! Mini truck life! I got a 91 MJ.
Ooh nice! A proper Comanche
Dave, I’m so thrilled you got to 100,000 subs really hoping to see you wildly succeed on here.
Thanks! I hope so too, not sure I’ll be wildly successful without taking some bigger risks
Congratulations! Great job Dave. I wish you were a GM guy….
I like some of the Generals cars
Congrats on 100K subs! you really deserve it. great channel always something interesting to watch. glad you got Louie ViTen headed in the right direction . great shots on the rock garden
Thanks so much
Yer a badass builder Dave!!
Congrats on 100,000 bud!
Thanks so much! It’s been kind of a wild chapter
New year's day there is snow wheeling run at that same location Hopefully I will see you there
The hangover run. I always seem to miss it
Dave, been watching since the beginning and you are killing it!
To answer your question; "What do you think I should do next to it"?
Sell it and built a Toyota mini truck😅
I have something else up my sleeve
@thedirtheadshed I don't doubt that at all good buddy!
Watched Chris Durham weld one of those ram mounts on UA. In fact, I think it was on Coopers truck. Can’t recall for sure, but I think it was the white full size RAM.
Congrats on the 100k.
That’s likely
Thanks so much
Busted knuckles? Wear gloves… 😀
Onboard air? Or do you use a Power Tank?
Pretty cool, Dave. We need some side-by-side shots of Louis and the Hardbody.
I agree. I’m bouncing all over the place
well, Mr. David, I would have it just the way it is right now, but, then again, I am just an old fart... it will be interesting for me to see what else you come up with for "ol Louis Viten
Video coming soon
Dirthead shed! The wheel and tire combo pops. Great episode man.
Thanks so much. I really like the wheels
Finally hit 100k. Comgrats! 🔥
Got it!
The drive over chassis shot was cool! 😁
It's an awesome truck. I'm really looking forward to seeing how you improve and refine it. I think the V10 Super Duty is a massively underappreciated platform.
I agree. It’s a great rig to start with
Congrats on the 100000 subs. Now it's time for merch.
Soon. Soon
@@thedirtheadshed
BTW Louis ViTen is Rad rig.
Congrats on the 100K, VERY COOL!
100K Subs! Congrats! It must be nice if one is really knowledgeable how to set up a rock crawler capable truck. I've noticed that Mom's Spaghetti and Louis Viten never struggle rock crawling. You must have a killer low-low gear ratio cause the engine RPM doesn't have to be raised as much to crawl which means the engine barely using its rated HP and Torque . Both truck crawl so smoothly👍. Awesome Fab. Looking forward for the next TDS vlog.
Thanks! Yeah, gearing is the key to smooth rock crawling. Both rigs have dual transfer case setups from offroad Design
Awesome truck, get thebrear dialed so you can do some higher speed stuff with a truck you absolutely shouldn't be doing it with.
That’s the plan
Dave you have all the knuckle bustin fun!
No pain no gain! Right!
That’s no fun. Never has been
100k subs, congrats. Louis Viten is a great build. Would be great to see a head to head between Louis Viten and Mom's Spaghetti.
Thanks! They are both pretty rad
Definitely need to get the dirtbike out there! A Drz400 build/maintenance series would be cool too
I may have to do that. It needs the head tube bearings gone through bad
Love it, great truck…
It’s a good one
Just noticed the 100K too. Way to go Dave!!
Thanks!!
RADICAL, one hand!!! Any plans to work with Fred again?
I would like to. But not sure what he wants to do
I see mustang bumpers …👀.. can’t wait for more mustang deuce
Those are top secret
you should check out ,the lug nut guys ,they stock every option lug hut you could want
Thanks for the heads up
