Great game and fantastic commentary by GM Naroditsky. 3:52 Why couldn't Magnus play 17.b6! instead of 17.c4 ? I think 17.b6! was already winning 17..ab6 18 Nb5 Qe5 and now 19 Nc4!! if Black takes 19..dxc4 then 20 Nd6+ Kf8 21 Nf7+ forks the king on d8 and the queen on e5. Eventually the world champion played b5-b6 two moves later but I think it was crushing earlier.
b6 was indeed crushing earlier. Magnus missed a couple of opportunities in favour of keeping his position solid. Parham also missed a couple of chances at an equal position, despite the poor development. Last chance was 17. Nxe5 instead of c3, apparently. White actually struggles to win the pawn back, and can both defend the knight and attack the pinning bishop with Ng6.
Yeah it's a very nice line,I think Magnus saw the move, he just think that the variation is a lot too calculate and he need to burn some time, because dc4 is not that forced, the queen can go back to b8,after Nbd6 check, Kd8 and so on, there's still too many pieces and Magnus always like to trade queens maybe because it's a blitz and you need to decide really quickly.

This was not a game, this was a crime. If this was boxing Parham would have been on his way to the hospital. I don't think Parham would have been able to spell his name immediately after this match. Guess he was dazed.
White is already a knight up, which is probably enough to win. But white is threatening to promote his pawn, and if that happens black will have to take and lose his rook as well. If black moves his rook to block the pawn promotion, he loses his bishop. In either case, white will be two pieces up, and black has no chance at all.
A moment to appreciate Danyas equally brilliant break down commentary.

Interesting small moment at 7:19, he pointed out that ridiculous pawn push after the game and Magnus just shrugs lol
Seriously.. to find that in blitz? That is insane.. I am still scratching my head not understanding b6 after watching it 3 times now.

Thank you for such a superb, aggressive effort from Magnus. Equally excellent and informative commentary.
