Thrilled to see Dr. Horrible mentioned here! I've always thought it was so underrated, it's really funny and heartfelt and the music is fantastic. I watch it frequently, so insanely quotable. I think it's also worth mentioning that it's a product of the writer's strike of 2007, amazing to see what can happen when a group of artists come together to work on a passion project with no studio interference.
Dr Horrible is one of the best things to come out of the 2007/2008 WGA Writer's Strike. I remember there was talk of new projects coming together in the same vein (though not the same story). I don't doubt Whedon's return to fame with the Avengers hurt this.
i watched tim and eric's billion dollar movie for the first time in a hotel room late at night and honestly that's probably the best way i could have experienced that movie for the first time: too tired to begin to process all the ways the things happening on-screen don't make any sense
Oh it definitely seems like the kind of movie that would be perfect to watch after you get home from a party and you're still a bit drunk or high or tired or some combination of those three things. It would make even less sense under those conditions but also you'd be more inclined to stay in your seat and you'd laugh at anything. By the morning you'd almost think it was a fever dream.
Take Shelter is easily one of my favourite films of all-time. I was so pissed that Michael Shannon didn't even get nominated for his performance at the Oscars that year. The film is so natural and all of the characters are relatable in the sense where I feel like I've known or seen these types before. For every person I hear telling me how great Inception is, I immediately switch back to thinking how underappreciated and brilliant Take Shelter's dream sequences are. The film is a genuine masterpiece and thank you, Adam, for giving it a spotlight here to (hopefully) find the film some new fans.
This is why I love this guy. He can review anything from a marvel movie to Once upon a time in Anatolia, he has true passion for film, he is honest without being patronizing, he doesn't have the smirk of the "cinematography connisseur", he does what he does because he loves it. I love your channel Adam.
Hello! It's going well! Thank you for the corrections and another amazing video. You always make the best content and videos that I itch for between each upload. I wish every movie came with your review because then if it's shit at least we would have your opinion to give us a chuckle. Keep it up my man!
Can I ask, Adam, have you seen the 2009 film "Ink" by Jamin Winans? It was powerful movie for me and my family to watch that I've seen multiple times but it doesn't get much attention because it's so under the radar.
That is actually crazy that you put dr. Horribles sing along blog on this! I performed this musical like 6 months ago, and I hadn’t heard about it before that.... I was moist

Glad to see some Take Shelter appreciation. When I saw it, I was surprised it didn't make your original list since it seemed to me like something you'd enjoy.
I saw the trailer for Take Shelter a long time ago but I forgot the name of the movie and the trailer has been stuck in my mind for all of these years until now. So THANK YOU SO MUCH
Please watch detective heart of America: the final freedom. it is one of my favorite movies and is extremely funny It's by filmcow here on UA-cam but it also had a DVD release too
Man i love your videos and i really appreciate the timestamp where there was a jumpscare. Im awful with horror and it was nice of you to include that so i could skip ahead.
I don't agree with all the movies that you don't like, but most of the movies you do like I seem to hold in the same esteem. I look forward to this list. Cheers buddy.
Pretty much what I'd rate it. A premise with fantastic potential but hardly executed as well as it could have been. Also the characters came across as a bit dull
Fair enough, there were definitely aspects that I thought were good, particularly the growing sense of confusion and panic. I wasn't too big a fan of the ending though, and the characters didn't seem too convincing. Then again, it has been quite a while since I've seen it, so a second viewing may change my opinion
I’m kinda surprised that a few of these didn’t appear in the lists originally. Knowing your tastes in movies I would have expected Cabin in the Woods, and ESPECIALLY Rec. 2 to be there. Still I’m glad to see you give them the attention they definitely earned
Props for picking the best song from Dr. Horrible's to play in the background, understandably you couldn't showcase the clip due to little backstory, but I appreciate it.
Honestly, I hate Cabin in the Woods. Which is probably entirely to blame on one of my friends. He promoted it as the greatest horror movie of all time, almost so scary I was gonna poo my pants, and it ended up being, well, not that. Only afterwards did he tell me I wasn't supposed to take it seriously. And yes, he knew that while he promoted it to me in the first place. So obviously, I didn't enjoy it based on what I was told. I'd maybe be able to enjoy it going back, knowing it's supposed to be a comedy, but my disappointment in it still hasn't worn off enough for that.
Words alone can't express how much i'm thankful you introduced me to [REC] 1 and 2 me and my siblings were a having blast watching both movies, gonna check out the rest cheers :)
Im just gonna ask here, when you indicate which year the film belong to did you use international release date or actual release date? Some foreign film have a year delay before they got release in america
Kinda like The hurt locker, i think he admires the filmmaking of Social Network very, very much but he doesn't get too much emotion from them to put them in top list. I might be wrong and he'll do a correction.
Have seen Bruno when he recommended it on his thoughts on video and I am glad he's included it on his list. It's awesome and I am just surprised how he somehow managed to use the documentary flims to make a satisfying and hilarious three act structure movie!
This exactly something I want to see from YT after the year is over they talk about shows that they watched for the first time and were not released the same year instead of just what else did everyone watch
I adore that you actually watched Red Chapel. It's so fucking weird, and that's coming from someone who understands what's going on in the film/regarding the time it's set in. I've actually watched it multiple times, because thank you Danish Radio.
Would love to know what you think of other Harmony Korine movies like Gummo - I am no closer to understanding what the fuck is going on with that movie now, even after multiple viewings (although maybe that’s the point)
Off of recommendation from your Borat/Bruno video you did, I bought Bruno from my local pawn shop on blu-ray for, like, two dollars. They had maybe eight copies or more. Watched it, then watched all the bonus features as well, including the commentary that kept stopping the film. Really enjoyed it, would agree it's pretty much on par if not better than Borat, and I probably didn't hear the best things about it because how uncomfortable the humor is. Thanks for speaking highly of it.
Posted this on your discord already, but adam, should you ever get the opperturnity to see Tackling Life, do it. Its not the best looking documentation, but its has so much heart in it.
