One further question that I have is how to then automatically and continuously play a whole series (or album full) of musical files transferred to the USB.

probably the best way to do this is to use the rip function in Windows media player

I would say try this video first. if it doesn't work then try a ripper.

It really depends on how many movies you have and the size of them, you might be better of getting an external hard drive, 2tb should be ample.

Many thanks Chris for your clear explanation, much appreciated. I have a question. I have acquired an external mini DVD player because I have some mini DVDs that need copying to my computer. I was going to connect the mini DVD player to my laptop via a HDMI cable since I have a HDMI port on the laptop and the mini DVD player and then see if I can copy over to a USB memory stick. Would this be the correct way of doing it?
Unfortunately the HDMI on your laptop is an output and not an input so I’m afraid this will not work. You need to purchase a video capture device with a HDMI port.
Hello Chris, very informative and should have done what i wanted, however, music files transferred to flash stick ok, the data is is on the stick yet when played, nothing happens ie no sound,what have i done wrong? thank you.
If you were copying files from a standard Music CD then the files you see are just data files, you need to run the CD through some CD Ripping Software.

If you want to transfer protected DVD sto USB drives for playback without limits, you need a third-party DVD to USB converter to rip DVDs to digital formats. DumboFab DVD Ripper is one of the best DVD to USB converter.

What if you wanted multiple movies on your flash drive how would you know which movie to select? Are they separated by titles to prevent confusion? What if you wanted to watch a movies extra features an subtitles? Is it on the movie menu similar to the DVD or Bluray?
You can rename the Titles to match the movie name, with regards to subtitles most players have the ability to play subtitles.
I have some MP4 videos preserved on a DVD disk. I would like to copy them onto a USB Flash Drive. Will this work, in the manner you described in the tutorial, or do I need a 'Ripping' software to copy the MP4 videos first, please?

very clear explanations!! somehow the disc i want to copy to my usb , did not register , any suggestion , i can be played on my pc , but not on my usb , the file ends with..........track 01 .cda , is the disc protected ??
You need to convert the tracks on the disc to mp3 files to get them to play on the USB, the cda file is just a small file which contains technical information rather than music, you can use iTunes to do this , take a look at this video in the link for more details on how to do this ua-cam.com/video/0gaZLDjm7x0/v-deo.html
Ive burned down old videos from a Analog Handycam to a DVD/CD, And does this apply the same way.
The problem is that the CD doesnt really open the complete footage it opens its files and stuff. So how can I manage to transfer the entire Footage at once
Yes just add the files to the app and burn the footage.

If it’s a music CD you are copying you need a CD ripper.
How do you put it on your desktop,rather than your external storage

You only need these files if you are planning to create a video DVD.
I have some non protected movies, does this rip the entire movie or in parts?
You can select the parts if you wish, I believe!
do you know how to compress the files together? I'm trying to copy a few episodes from the dvd onto the usb but majority of the files comes up as a 'shortcut' and im not sure how to put those together to show the actual video, if that makes sense. is there a way to do that?

It really depends on how the game was compiled and what sort of protection it has against you copying it to another device, you could try copying all files from the CD to the USB drive and see if it works.

You need to check you car manual to see what format the usb device needs to be formatted to it will probably be fat32 or fat or exFat.

If you want the files to go from the CD drive to the USB drive in a certain order, do you have to transfer them across in the order you want them to play i.e. if I want ten cd albums to play from album one, two, three etc, do I transfer album one across first or album ten?? Thanks.
You need to to number the tracks 001, 002, 003 etc

When i copy cd software called Oxford Adv Dictionary into full USB and then, my laptop have no CD/DVD Rom, as only USB, and i try put in, but still say need "Insect CD/DVD" in ?? so i dont known how to ask... ! what your advice ? please
The programmer has specifically written into its program that this needs to be run from a CD unfortunately there is not way around this.

I use Brasero or K3b out of linux. or you can simply grab the files from your reader and copy them directly to your stick via nemo. Basically a no-brainer under linux. You may need admin rights though. I haven't booted any flavor of windows in over 20 years though. btw brasero/K3b doesn't cost you a nickel. but you DO need to know something about computers (as linux targets people that know something).

Hi Cris, thank you for your video. I have seen in YT that people hang segments of a movie that are funny. These segments are say 1 minute each. And they combine say 10 segments or 10 minutes and turn them into a video. Moreover, they add music! How do they do that? Would you please answer my question? Thank you!
They would use a video editing package I believe.

So I’m looking to transfer a SACD of “Avalon” to a USB thumb drive because my surround sound system in my Cadillac SRX only plays Dolby Digital and DTS formats. It doesn’t play Blu-Ray or SACD’s so I’m hoping to transfer it to the USB drive. 2 questions A. Will it work and B. Will it be in the SACD surround sound format?
I am not sue myself but if anyone else knows please feel free to post anything that may help!

What if you dont have a computer? I only have a phone and a tablet.
Then you probably wouldn’t have a DVD drive that you can connect to your phone or tablet, therefore it would not be possible.

I've got some pictures on 8cm disks from like 20 years ago ... Any ideas how I can access through pc
I think these disks should still work, the tray in most CD/DVD's in computers has a drop for 8cm discs if you have a laptop just put the disc in like any other.

I did exactly what it said. Did not work. When I hit sent to , the copy line cross the screen in 2 sec. Play the stick, nothing. When I put it in the lap top it shows track 1, track 2 , track 3..... No audio...........😪
If you are trying to copy a music Cd then you need CD ripping software.

Probably not as most games have protection on them to prevent copying.

Not too helpful. My tracks point to simply a link file, of 1kb (44 bytes).
I assume you are trying to rip a CD, if so you need CD ripping software to do this.

yes if there is no copy protection on the game and if the games programming allows you to do this, however the game may run slower due to the transfer rate.
