Freddie doesn’t have to show off - that’s just him using his precious God given talent.
My thoughts exactly
Simply a masterpiece.
Brian May is the lead guitarist while John Deacon is the Bass guitarist. In the movie Highlander, Brian begins the song and Freddie takes over and then Brian comes back in and Freddie finishes it. It's a very moving part of the movie where the Highlander, who is an Immortal, is with his mortal wife who is coming to the end of her life.
Queens catalog contains more than 200 songs. Rock and Roll, County, and even Opera.Give Barcelona a listen.
Brian wrote this song for the Queen Soundtrack for the movie Highlander. The only song Queen recorded after Freddie Mercury died as the band Queen without Freddie was a Tribute to Freddie called "No One but You (Only the Good Die Young)" which Brian wrote as a tribute to Freddie. That was the last song done as Queen. Brian and Roger had already gone on with solo careers and John retired from music after they did that song for Freddie a few years after Freddie had passed. Within a year after Freddie's death, the remaining three members of the band hosted a Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert where so many of the top names in Rock/Pop participated and each performed a Queen song most with the remaining members of Queen who were the house band for the event. Later, Brian and Roger came together with Paul Rogers (Free, Bad Company) and toured as Queen + Paul Rogers for a couple of years then took a break and later started touring as Queen + Adam Lambert and are still touring, collaborating with Adam, but nobody has ever recorded any music as "Queen" without Freddie Mercury.
They wound up doing the songs for Highlander, most of thst album was in it. The live version is fabulous! And Freddie can show off his vocal talents as much as he wants; we’re lucky to have these to witness it. And why shouldn’t he? My goodness.
He is a monster talent. I haven't seen many people that can sing with such power and then go soft in the same song! Please subscribe. Any requests?
@@oldvsyoungreactions Brilliant that you gave the band the big screen while giving yourself the smaller one. Most people who do YT reaction vids just want to make it all about themselves.
This is one of Queen's most popular songs on spotify, it is also a very popular song to sing in the more classical community. Queen were not really fans of broadway, Freddie Mercury was a big fan of opera. So, a different type of theatre. Freddie Mercury did a collaboration with an opera singer, that was some really powerful singing. I suggest you guys check out; "Barcelona - Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballe". Freddie wrote this song for the olympic games in 1992 which was held in Barcelona. This is an amazingly powerful song with great vocals.
This is not a standard rock song, it was written by Brian May (lead guitarist) specifically for the film "Highlander" - 1986 starring Christopher Lambert. They wrote 8 songs total for the movie giving it a heck of a soundtrack. Watch "Princes Of The Universe" video version - Freddie Mercury (lead signer) wrote that one for the same movie. It's got that rock punch you're used to hearing.
Thanks, O&Y... Brian wrote this for the movie "Highlander" and starts out fantastically with vocals and organ... but when Freddie comes in, his voice is astonishing.. then, check out May stepping in with the guitar... enjoy your reactions... (p.s. Brian May is guitar, not bass guitar.. and "Queen with Adam Lambert" have been touring very successfully for a while... took me a while to listen to Adam, b/c nobody will ever be Freddie.. but Adam has a great voice and stage presence.. I think Freddie would have approved)
If you had a voice like that you'd be showing it off too. 😂
This may not have been famous in the US, but it's well known around the rest of the world. Also, Brian didn't take over lead for the band. They released an album with Freddie after his death and one single as a tro. But didn't tour until they teamed up with Paul Rodgers in the naughties and later with Adam Lambert.
Thanks for the info. Much appreciated
Brian May wrote this song for the film Highlander in the back of a taxi. Check out the live version at Wembley 86
This was from "Highlander" movie soundtrack. Although this video was made later.
This is a song from movie Highlander 1986 Queen had the music in that movie. It's about An immortal Scottish swordsman must confront the last of his immortal opponents, a murderously brutal barbarian who lusts for the fabled "Prize" With Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery good movie. They even made an TV series about it ; ))
Thanks for the info. I remember the movie but didn't connect the song. Now I have to watch it again. Please subscribe if you haven't. Is there anything you would like us to react to?
@@oldvsyoungreactions You wlc i'm a Queen fan , so i thought u might like the info 😀 Btw i have subscribed , when you did ur first Angelina Jordan reaction guys, so keep up the good work 👍👍
@@oldvsyoungreactions When you watch Highlander, besides listening out for "Who Wants To Live Forever", listen for the rest of the songs Queen wrote for that movie: "Princes Of The Universe", "New York, New York" , "It's A Kind Of Magic", "A Dozen Red Roses for My Darling", "One Year Of Love", "Gimme The Prize" and "Hammer To Fall". (they were asked to do 1 song, instead they did 8).
You should check out this same song live in Budapest
The song was written by Brian May it was penned during a troubled period with his now ex wife and an ailing father if i remember correctly
No sorry that was "Too Much Love Will Kill You" which both Brian & Freddie sang so there are two versions. This song was written by Brian but it was for the film "Highlander" in which Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) was immortal and everyone who he fell in love with died whilst he never aged !! It was considered a massive hit in the 80's.
Great reaction, however the bassist is John Deacon and Brian May is the LEGEND on his homemade "red special" guitar. As always Freddie didn't disappoint, the other LEGEND was then back then and still is to this day.
Sorry about the Brian May. I know he is the guitars it's just my mouth that forgot! Please subscribe. Do you have any requests
Check this out live at Wembley it’s so amazing thanks for your reaction 😊
I will check it out
Yes theatrical. It’s supposed to be for the film
They released Made In Heaven a couple of years after Fred passed away with work which Fred had left behind and a single in around 1997. As for not making it that's why the two remaining members and Spike Edney sell out huge stadiums or Freddie Roger and Sir Brian released their own solo albums alongside Queen?? The States missed out on alot because some didn't like I Want To Break Free and the video was banned in the 80's and Fred refused to tour there again
Brian May is the guitarist not bass. John Deacon is on bass
